00:00Persato President Muhyiddin Yassin could end up staying on as Perikatan Nasional Chairman
00:05despite stepping down on January 1st, as PAS is struggling to reach an agreement on a successor
00:12from the Islamic Party, says a report.
00:15Quoting a source from PAS, Ultusan Malaysia reported that the Islamic Party had been in
00:20a deadlock on its candidate for the PN Chairmanship despite intending to take over the post.
00:25Its delay in putting forth a candidate had given PAS a negative perception, as though
00:31the party lacks leaders capable of leading PN, said the source.
00:36PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang, however, denied that Muhyiddin would be staying on as PN Chairman,
00:42insisting that PAS already has a successor in mind and will be taking over the post, according
00:48to Cosmo.
00:49However, he said he had yet to be invited to a PN Supreme Council meeting to confirm
00:55Muhyiddin's resignation and appoint his successor, attributing this to administrative issues.
01:01He added that the new PN Chairman might be revealed in one or two weeks.
