The Prime Minister says that "while all trends show that crime continues to decline," her administration "must keep the pressure on criminal elements."

This as the Prime Minister spoke about the importance of new mobile police posts across the country.

00:00Prime Minister Kamla Pasad-Basasa said in a social media post that, quote,
00:04While all trends show that crime continues to decline, we must keep the pressure on criminal elements and strengthen the
00:10presence of law enforcement in our communities, end quote.
00:14The Prime Minister made the declaration on Saturday as she also said that construction of mobile police posts at Toruba
00:22and Grand Bazaar are underway.
00:23Prime Minister Pasad-Basasa said that with these new mobile police posts, citizens can look forward to an increased level
00:31of safety across Trinidad and Tobago.
00:33Earlier on Saturday, TV6 News spoke with Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander via telephone.
00:40Mobile police post sites at this time. Three. One at the Hadrums, one on the highway to Grand Bazaar, under
00:50the Grand Bazaar flyover, and the other one up at Toruba.
00:52Forever. Just at the top. It is going quite well. We have already put on the foundation, and now we
01:02are looking to go to other sites.
01:04But what we are trying to do, we are trying to open these three sites, possibly next week.
01:10The Homelander Security Minister spoke about consultations with the state-owned National Gas Company regarding the government's announcement of a
01:18planned 30 Joint Police Defense Force posts across the nation.
01:22I want to also commend the persons at the NGC for the dialogue that we had for such a long
01:32time involving all of this, when everybody thought we were just doing things crazy helter-skelter.
01:37We engaged them very early. I want to thank the Commission of Police. I want to thank the Chief of
01:45Defence Staff.
01:46On Saturday, Opposition Senator Foster Cummings said, quote,
01:50No one is objecting to the establishment of a police post at Edihad Grounds. The issue is the manner in
01:56which the government has gone about it, end quote.
01:59The Homelander Security Minister had a direct message for the opposition.
02:04We are not taking no pushback from anybody. We are just attempting pushback.
02:08And now we are talking about a lot of different things involving procurement and all of that.
02:13We have no problem with that.
02:16But what I would like though,
02:19Before I answer the procurement as it relates to this,
02:25let us exchange, let us exchange between the PNM and this government.
02:31I hand over the procurement for this,
02:36and you hand over the procurement for the Bajiji House.
02:39The Prime Minister, in her statement on Saturday,
02:43once again thanked the brave men and women of the law enforcement agencies,
02:47and also thanked all those who continue to support and assist in the fight against crime.
