00:00In her Facebook post titled The Data is Clear, Prime Minister Kamala Pesant Visasa is defending her government's crime strategies,
00:08maintaining that crime is downed.
00:10She says, quote, from January 2026 to July 20th, 2026, there were 118 fewer murders compared to the same period
00:20in 2024, during the PNM's last full year in government.
00:24That represents a decrease from 331 murders in 2024 to 213 over the same period in 2026.
00:36She also says the analysis shows that under the UNC, there have been approximately 400 fewer murders during 2025 and
00:462026 combined,
00:48and that's compared to what was projected to occur based on the murder rates of over 600 under the PNM
00:55in 2023 and 2024.
01:00Pesant Visasa argues, quote, had the PNM remained in government, there would have been about 400 more murder victims in
01:07our country based on the murder rates recorded under its negligence, end quote.
01:12She further says there have been decreases in murders in every police division in the country between 2024 and 2026,
01:22with the greatest decreases occurring in the Port of Spain, Western and Northern divisions, which cover PNM stronghold constituencies.
01:31The Prime Minister says, quote, despite the deliberate misinformation from PNM MPs,
01:37the data show that their own stronghold constituencies are becoming safer because of the work of the UNC government and
01:45the TTPS under the SOE, end quote.
01:48She concluded by saying the statistical data show that both the government and the TTPS are making positive progress under
01:56the SOE for the benefit of citizens.
