00:00Hey guys really quick video for our modern Japanese architecture playlist as you guys are aware
00:06Planning for earthquakes is a really big thing when building a new building in Japan
00:11So have a look what they've done here. They started with a backhoe and they dug trenches in
00:17the ground where walls were going to go and then they left the high spots where there weren't going to
00:23be walls where the floors were going to go and
00:25And then they filled it up with all this reinforcements serious reinforcing as you can see and what they're basically
00:31doing is making one
00:32Giant mat where you can see the reinforcing standing up
00:36That'll be a little concrete wall about half a meter high
00:39That will be the start of each wall in the in the building
00:43But basically what they're doing is they're not digging down deep foundations anywhere
00:46The foundations are just what you can see and it just makes one big concrete mat that the building will
00:53be built on
00:53Which means in an earthquake the whole building will just move in one piece
00:58Anyway, there's that more videos coming soon
