07:41through him christ jesus who strengthens us as overcomers by the blood of the lamb and the word of our

07:47testimony yes as god's workmanship created unto good works which he prepared beforehand that we should

07:54walk in them yes thank you lord we belong to you we belong to christ jesus we belong to christ

08:14as i said it is simple but there is a lot of great uh areas that we cover so i

08:22i'm gonna give you a context first and then we're gonna get right into it amen amen

08:30thank you jesus hallelujah all right so so as i said so today's study

08:37is one that touches every single person because remember we are living in a fallen world at some

08:43point in life all of us have gone through anxiety it doesn't discriminate and that's the reality it affects

08:49the young and the old the wealthy and the poor the strong and the weak believers and unbelievers alike

08:58in today's world many people are carrying invisible burdens some are overwhelmed by financial pressures

09:05others by family struggles uncertain futures declining health broken relationships workplace demands

09:14untrusty authorities or the constant stream of troubling news surrounding us every day

09:22many people appear calm on the outside while silently battling fear worry and inner turmoil on the inside

09:31truth is anxiety has become one of the defining struggles of our generation but here's the encouraging

09:38news god never intended his children to live in prison by fear or controlled by anxiety throughout

09:47scripture we repeatedly see god's heart revealed through the words do not fear or fear not not because

09:56life will always be easy not because problems won't come but because he has promised to be with us through

10:03every circumstance our key passage today comes from philippians 4 verses 6 to 7 where apostle paul writes and

10:13then this time i'm going to be reading from the amplified classic version do not fret or have any anxiety

10:21about anything

10:22but in every circumstance and in everything by prayer and petition definite requests with thanksgiving

10:30continue to make your wants known to god and god's peace shall be yours that tranquil state of a soul

10:39assured

10:40of its salvation through christ and so fearing nothing from god and being content with its earthly lot of

10:48whatever sort that is that peace which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your

10:57hearts and minds in christ jesus notice that paul doesn't simply tell us what not to do he tells us

11:06what to do instead don't carry your burdens alone bring them to god don't allow worry to dominate your

11:13thoughts allow prayer thanksgiving and trust to shape your heart this isn't a call to pretend life's

11:20challenges don't exist nor is it an invitation to deny difficult emotions rather it's an invitation to

11:27transfer the weight of our burdens from our shoulders onto the faithful shoulders of our heavenly father of

11:35jesus christ who loves us cares for us and is more than able to sustain us so throughout this study

11:42we'll

11:42discover that biblical freedom from anxiety isn't found in positive thinking self-confidence or trying

11:49hard or maintaining

11:52no it is found in a growing relationship with jesus christ

11:57as we learn to trust him more deeply surrender our cares to him renew our minds with his word and

12:03cultivate an eternal perspective we'll discover that god's peace isn't dependent on our circumstances

12:10it's rooted in his unchanging character so today we'll explore eight important truths together number

12:19one the silence thief called anxiety understanding the enemy before defeating it number two when anxiety

13:33let's start our prayer today is that no one leaves this study carrying the same burdens they brought with

13:40them that's right so may every anxious heart find rest every troubled mind discover peace every fearful

13:48soul be strengthened and every person encounter the comforting presence of jesus christ so let's open our

13:56hearts receive god's word with faith and allow holy spirit to transform us from the inside out let's do this

14:02all right right number one the silent thief called anxiety understanding the enemy before defeating it

14:11all right so anxiety is persistent worry inner distress apprehension dread tension restlessness

14:31let me say that again because it's important in order for us to tackle it we need to know what

14:36it is amen so

14:47over-imagined future events and or situations tyron edwards put it this way anxiety is the poison of human life

14:55the parent of many sins

14:58and of more miseries in a world where everything is doubtful and where we may be disappointed and be blessed

15:06why this restless stir and commotion of mind can it alter the cause or unravel the mystery of human events

15:15obviously no the baker's baker's evangelical dictionary of biblical theology and that's a mouthful reveals

15:24anxiety most frequently manifesting itself in ungodly concern most commonly about provision performance or

15:32reputation and appears to be rooted in incomplete knowledge lack of control over circumstances or failure to take

15:41an eternal perspective an eternal perspective on things and you can check

15:44biblical supporting evidence in these uh scriptures matthew 6 25 to 34

15:53matthew 10 verse 19 mark 13 11 luke 12 verses 11 to 12 luke 12 verses 22 to 34 amongst

16:06many others

16:07so in fact anxiety is a clear insinuation that god is either unable or disinclined

16:19which means he doesn't want to in another words he's either unable or disinclined to see to our welfare and

16:28that is obviously not true so consequently the word of god portrays anxiety as being

16:33absolutely inconsistent with trust and faith in god okay let me give you a life analogy here a practical

16:41example how does that apply to our lives and we are talking on the first topic the first section is

16:47the

16:47silent thief cold anxiety understanding the enemy before defeating it so the slow leak in a car tire

16:56imagine driving a car with a tiny nail in one of the tires at first everything seems fine the leak

17:03is so

17:03slow that you hardly notice but kilometer after kilometer the pressure drops steering becomes harder fuel

17:12efficiency decreases and eventually the tire becomes unsafe anxiety often works the same way it rarely

17:19arrives all at once it quietly drains you of your joy peace confidence and spiritual strength until

17:27you're trying to navigate life with an empty heart the sooner the leak is found the sooner the journey

17:35becomes safe again likewise identifying anxiety is the first step toward experiencing god's restoring peace

17:43what silently drains you must be identified before it can be healed amen amen all right number two

17:52number two when anxiety starts speaking recognizing the warning signs and this is very important so listen up

18:00according to alison potter an experienced licensed clinical social worker and our own extensive personal

18:08experiences you know during counseling and all some of the most common and signs of anxiety includes

18:15irritability means you're irritable about things extreme worry easily fatigue racing heart rate difficulty sleeping

18:25disrupted breathing muscle tension or pain difficulty concentrating regular feelings of panic

18:35gastrointestinal problem constant feeling of self-doubt frequent headaches or stomach aches all right let me give

18:45you a life analogy about that when and we are talking about when anxiety starts speaking so these are the

18:51signs we

18:52just spoke that um are signs of anxiety recognizing the warning signs right the dashboard uh warning lights right of

19:01a car or

19:02um any type of vehicle every vehicle has of their own warning lights when one appears wise drivers

19:10doesn't cover it with tape or pretend everything is fine maybe in balorad i was thinking the same thing

19:18oh wow it's an inside joke but if you come to balorad there's so much there's masking tape everywhere

19:24all right let's keep going

19:33investigate the cause before a small issue becomes a costly breakdown our emotions thoughts and bodies

19:42have warning lights too persistent worry sleeplessness irritability panic and constant tension

19:52aren't simply inconveniences to ignore they are signals that sometimes something's

19:58deeper needs attention god doesn't reveal these warning signs to condemn us but to invite us closer to him

20:07before greater damage occurs warning signs are invitation to seek help not reason to hide amen

20:17amen so seek help if you're going through these things that's right don't hide before he gets laid help

20:24number three the hidden cost of anxiety what anxiety steals from your life very important okay george

20:32muller described it this way the beginning of anxiety is the end of faith wow and the beginning of true

21:37a happy heart is a good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing but a broken spirit dries up the

22:25fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled wow okay so let me give you a life analogy here and

22:41you never signed up for now imagine discovering that money has been leaving your bank account every

22:48month for years because of a subscription you never realized was active little by little it quietly drains

22:56your resources without your permission anxiety behaves similarly it quietly steals today's peace while

23:04promising to protect tomorrow instead of giving sounds like our government

23:34jesus reminds us that warring cannot add a single hour to our lives but it can certainly diminish the quality

23:54so anxiety always takes more than he promises to give amen amen all right let's get on to number four

24:01jesus the only lasting answer god's pathway to complete freedom so oswald chambers made this powerful true

24:12statement listen to that our yesterday's present irreparable things to us it is true that we have lost

24:22opportunities which will never return we many of us know about that but god can transform this destructive

24:29anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future let the past sleep but let it sleep on the bosom of

24:41christ

26:38stop laughing casting the whole of your care all your anxieties all your worries all your concern once

26:48and for all on him for he cares we're talking about casting all your problems on jesus christ

26:54for he cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully let me give you the life analogy for

27:02this one so we are talking about jesus the only lasting answer god's pathway to complete freedom

27:10the anchor in the storm when storms strike at sea sailors don't remove the anchor they rely on it

27:18the waves continue the wind still blows but the anchor keeps the vessel from drifting towards destruction

27:28jesus doesn't always remove every storm immediately but he anchors our hearts so that circumstances

27:35no longer determine our peace our security isn't found in calm seas but in the one who hold us steady

27:45through them that's right peace comes from who holds you not from what surrounds you i'll say it again peace

27:55comes from who holds you jesus christ not from what surrounds you not from the circumstances amen amen

28:04number five the first step toward freedom confession opens the door to peace all right so freedom from

28:13anxiety begins with recognizing and confessing that it is useless to be anxious we must acknowledge that and we

28:21must confess it until we believe it in other words it's absolutely not god's will for god's will for us

28:28and repentance for not trusting god is a good start amen john piper put it this way the command is

28:36cast your anxiety on god the promise is god cares for you and that's found in 1 peter 5 verse

28:447 the command is

28:54and which of you by being overly anxious and troubled with cares can add a cubit to his stature or

29:00a moment

29:20very important that bit nor gather into barns and yet your heavenly father keeps feeding them

30:33strong enough and willingly place the weight on the hands of jesus or on his shoulders freedom begins

30:41the moment you stop carrying what christ has already invited you to surrender to him amen all right

30:49number six replacing panic with prayer turning every burden into worship now freedom from anxiety continues

30:57with simply substituting prayer for anxiety whenever you see the symptom of anxiety kicking in

31:05this can be done in two forms according to the severity of the anxiety once prayer unto god and a

31:13whom another believer or leader is willing to be part of with you right some um chapter 34 verse 4

31:24i sought inquired of the lord and required him of necessity and on the authority of his word and he

32:44fearful souls prayer reconnects our hearts to god's presence and his promises the circumstances may not change

32:53immediately but our perspective and confidence begins to change because we are no longer relying on our own

33:01strengths prayer isn't informing god of something he doesn't know it's reconnecting our hearts with the one who knows

33:10exactly what we need prayer reconnect reconnects us with the god whose presence changes how we face every

33:19circumstances amen amen number seven living from heaven's perspective renewing your mind for lasting peace

33:30all right so freedom from anxiety is completed in the process of cultivating an eternal viewpoint

33:38cultivating means planting a seed which means it's gonna take some time remember it's not gonna be over

33:43it's not gonna bam you get them you get it done you have to cultivate that's right you have to

33:49break old

33:49habits create new ones in other words cultivating an eternal to eternal viewpoint characterized by the renewal

33:56of your mind through regular study meditation and application of god's word

34:04our minds are renewed our minds are renewed and we cultivate so seeds that grow an eternal viewpoint god's

34:11very own perspective so isaiah 26 verse 3 isaiah 26 verse 3 reading from the amplified classic you will guard

34:20him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind both its inclination and its character is stayed

34:28on you because he commits himself to you leans on you and hopes confidently in you matthew 6 32 to

34:3534 in the new

34:37king james version for after all these things the gentiles seek for your heavenly father knows you need all

34:44these things but seek first the kingdom of god and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to

34:52you therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things sufficient

35:47praiseworthy meditate on these things let me give you a life analogy we're talking about living from

35:52heaven's perspective renewing your mind for lasting peace the eagle above the storm when storms approach

36:02most birds seek shelter but eagles often rise above the storm rather than fighting every gust of wind

36:12they use the rising currents to soar higher from above the storm that looked overwhelming from the ground

36:21it appears very different renewing our minds through god's word gives us heaven's perspective we begin to see

36:30our circumstances through the eyes of faith rather than through the lens of fear the storm may still exist

36:37but it no longer defines our outlook because our eyes are fixed on christ jesus god's perspective

36:45lifts us above the fears that once controlled us amen and let me give you a bonus here because this

36:52is also

36:53important this part this is just an extra bonus your freedom this is very important one too your freedom

37:01becomes someone else's hope so set free to help set others free amen two corinthians 1 verses 3 to 4

37:37analogy here we're talking about your freedom becomes someone else's hope lighting another candle think

37:43about it one lit candle can ignite hundreds of other candles without losing its own flame right so in the

37:50same way the comfort peace and healing god gives us are never meant to stop with us he comforts us

37:57so

37:57that we can become a source of comfort and encouragement to others who are walking through similar trials

38:04your testimony doesn't diminish as you share it it multiplies hope god's comfort is designed to

38:12overflow into the lives of others amen amen all right let's cover

38:17our summary of the whole study right anxiety is one of the greatest battles facing people today

38:27quietly stealing peace joy confidence and hope left unchecked it can consume our thoughts shape our

38:35decision and rob us of the abundant life god desires for his children yet the bible remind us that anxiety

38:43was never meant to be our master amen throughout this study we've discovered that god does not simply

38:51tell us tell us to stop worrying he lovingly shows us how he invites us to bring every burden to

38:59him in

39:00prayer to trust in his unfailing faithfulness to renew our minds with his word and to live with an eternal

39:07perspective rather than being controlled by temporary circumstances now true freedom from anxiety is not

39:13found in denying life's challenges or pretending that they don't exist it is found in knowing that jesus

39:20christ were walks with us through every trial carries every burden we surrender to him and fills our hearts

39:28with a peace that surpasses all humans understanding amen when we confess our worries instead of hiding them

39:36replace panic with prayer fix our minds on god's promises and seek his kingdom above everything else anxiety

39:44begins to lose its grip fear gives way to faith worry is replaced by worship and uncertainty is overcome by

39:54confidence in god's perfect love and sovereign care the christian life is not the absence of storms

40:01but the presence of the savior in the midst of them our confidence rests not in our ability to control

40:07tomorrow but in the unchanging character of the god who already holds tomorrow in his hand so today jesus

40:16extends the same invitation he has always offered come to me and i will give you

40:23rest matthew 11 28 whatever burden you may be carrying today you do not have to carry it alone cast

40:30every

40:30care upon him trust him wholeheartedly and allow his supernatural peace to guard your heart and your mind

40:39anxiety may be real but it is not your identity fear may knock at your door but it doesn't have

40:45to rule your

40:46heart through jesus christ every burden has a place to go every anxiety anxious souls can be surrendered

40:53and every troubled heart can discover supernatural peace god's answer to anxiety isn't found in

41:00striving harder it's found in trusting deeper so as we confess our burdens saturate our lives with prayer

41:10renew our minds through his word and keep our eyes fixed on eternity we discover that the peace of god

41:17isn't the absence of trouble it's the presence of christ guarding our hearts and minds

41:25so don't leave today carrying what jesus has invited you to surrender walk in faith live in peace and let

41:33your life become living proof that when christ is lord fear no longer has the final word amen amen

41:42so lord we pray for every single person that's been struggling with anxiety right now in the mighty name

41:47of jesus we have studied your word

41:52and we have tasted and seen that it is good yes it is good so lord we we no longer

42:00want to live and i'm

42:02speaking on behalf of brothers and sisters who've been struggling with anxiety in any way we no longer

42:07want to live in anxiety lord we repent for for trusting in our anxious feelings and the deceitfulness

42:18of the feelings and the things of this world and the circumstances but we thank you lord that you are

42:25a

42:26good god a good father and every single word that we have studied today we thank you that it is

42:31our portion

42:32because it comes from you that we are victorious in christ jesus and anxiety is not our portion

42:40but the joy of the lord the peace of god that surpasses all understanding it's the wisdom of god which

42:46we

42:46are constantly and every moment growing in your wisdom lord in the mighty name of jesus we pray amen and

42:55amen glory to god hallelujah i want to make a very important invitation if this is your first

43:02time if you're watching and you have not made jesus your lord and savior well this is the most

43:06important decision you could ever make in your life one john 5 4 to 5 tells us for whatever is

43:13born of god overcomes the world and this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith now

43:19the reality is everybody puts their faith in something you must you probably put your faith in in

43:23gurus in in in superstars in your idols in money and whatever even in yourself in what you

43:29you think is right but everybody puts their faith in something but the reality is you cannot overcome

43:34the troubles of this world you cannot overcome the troubles of life without the truth that's right

43:39so the word of god goes on to say who is he who overcomes the world then but he who

43:45believes that

43:46jesus is the son of god and only jesus is the way the truth and the life only jesus can

43:51bring salvation and

43:52only jesus is the solution to your problems only jesus makes you victorious over over life

44:00john 3 16 to 17 a bible vessel we've heard many times before for god so loved the world talking

44:08about

44:08our father god that he gave his only begotten son talking about jesus christ that whoever believes in him

44:16should not perish but have everlasting that means eternal life for god did not send his part so

44:23important verse 17 for god did not send his son into the world to condemn the world it's not what

44:30the world says about christianity no but that the world through him might be saved might that might part

44:36there if you check it out if you're really starting to that word you'll see that might part there

44:41is linked to our free will because as you will see in a couple of moments if you make jesus

44:50your

44:50lord and savior if you believe just like john 3 16 to 17 says that jesus came down here and

44:57whoever

44:57believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life you will be saved the bible tells us that but

45:03that might part is if you decide to exercise your free will and still deny god if you deny god

45:09then hey

45:09you've chosen your path so what must we do okay let me tell you first one john one verse nine

45:17john one verse nine says if we confess our sins and sin sins sin in the most simplistic definition is

45:26when we try to live our lives without god we were not created to live without god we were created

45:32in god's

45:32image by the way we're the only creation out of the whole universe creating god's image that's how much

45:36he values us that he's created us in his own image so we are not human beings we are spirit

45:41beings with

45:42a body and a soul that's a theological topic for another for another moment but nevertheless when

45:50you try to live your life without god without jesus you are in sin you're living outside of god's

45:57protection you're living outside of god's of your relationship and god's design that's right

46:02and the word of god goes on to say in 1 john 1 9 he is faithful and just to

46:07forgive us our sins

46:08and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness amen so what does that mean what do i have to do right

46:14now george okay romans 10 9 to 10 tells us as you can see on the screen that if you

46:20confess with your

46:20mouth the lord jesus and believe in your heart god has raised him from the dead you will be saved

46:25there it

46:25is for with a heart man believeth unto righteousness and with a mouth confession is made unto salvation

46:32there is no generic prayer there is no repeat after me you can if you want but the reality is

46:38it has to

46:39come as you can see right there it comes from your heart it's a genuine a well-intentioned a real

46:45desire

46:45to make jesus your lord and savior you're tired of your life the way you're living and you know you

46:51can't

46:51keep going on like this and you cry out to god simply a simple prayer like i've had enough i

46:58need

46:59you jesus from this day forward i make you my lord and savior i can't live like this any longer

47:04and i thank you that you died on that cross for me i thank you that you rose again

47:09now use my life for your glory it's as simple as that and you will be restored redeemed delivered

47:17saved in another words unto the kingdom of god but it doesn't stop there as you can see titus 3

47:23verse 5 ephesians 2 verse 8 act 1 verse 8 amongst others talks about something else a gift that god

47:29wants to give us apart from salvation he wants to bless you with what we call in the christian circles

47:35baptism of holy spirit and fire and you'll see why so you give your life to jesus you make jesus

47:41your lord

47:41and savior you get saved by grace through faith the gift of god washing away our sins and giving us

47:50the new joy of the indwelling holy spirit that's what we're talking about here you want that new joy

47:57you want because what's what's happening in in this in this uh situation is when you give your life to

48:02jesus you're replacing what was on the inside your your worldly desires uh the influences that you were

48:11living by that gets replaced has to be replaced with something else because if that's not replaced

48:18with something else whatever you were living for before will come back so you need to replace that

48:26emptiness that space inside of you with the spirit of god that's what that new joy of indwelling holy

48:34spirit is talking about and you will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you and you'll be my

48:38witnesses telling people about me everywhere and that's what we're going to do right now some of

48:43you may have just received the baptism of holy spirit just by declaring jesus it it can happen yes

48:49it can happen but sometimes as we see in the bible there is they give their life to jesus but

48:56there's

48:56another moment where they go and get baptized and they get baptized in water but they end up getting

49:01baptized in water and a holy spirit there's many different ways so if you didn't if you know you will

49:07know anyway if you go baptize in the holy spirit right now you will know because there's evidence

49:12of that so we're going to pray for those who have not been baptized in the holy spirit and fire

49:17okay

49:18lord we thank you for this privilege we thank you for our brothers and sisters who have given their

49:22lives who have made you their lord and savior thank you that heaven is rejoicing over their souls

49:27over their eternal salvation we rejoice over them and we thank you for the privilege of being able to

49:32be used by you to reveal the truth and to help our brothers and sisters be returned back to the

49:38kingdom family but now we cry out to you lord for a fresh infilling for a baptism of holy spirit

49:45and fire

49:46lord we want to be set a light for you that the world will watch us burn for you burn

49:51in terms of

49:52spiritual burning we're talking about revival that cannot be quenched so we can truly reflect your glory as your

49:59children as your kings and priests as your christ ambassadors as your living epistles as the soldiers

50:06of the kingdom of god as the heavenly missionaries that you ordained us to be yes lord we say send

50:13fire

50:14lord send fire fire in jesus name amen and amen glory to god hallelujah hallelujah all right so

54:16you grow produce everlasting fruit love joy peace patience kindness goodness faithfulness gentleness and

54:24self-control we decree and declare philippians 3 14 to 16 that we will run straight for the divine

54:30invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory prize through the anointing of jesus
