00:00A lot of the west is very uncomfortable and downright unhealthy with widespread smoke, but also a lot of heat.
00:07The heat wave persists through the rest of the week and right into the weekend across the Great Basin.
00:11The interior west is stifling and there's a lot of smoke out there.
00:15The fire danger does continue.
00:16While there's not a whole lot of wind, it is breezy in the northwest, very dry though.
00:22And again, the fires will continue to burn and produce widespread smoke and haze with unhealthy air,
00:28especially in the northern part of the area facing the heat dome.
00:32Regarding highs, we're looking at record-breaking heat in some areas.
00:35We'll probably break a record on Thursday in Ely, Nevada.
00:38And we'll probably be close to records in areas like Bishop, California, Vancouver, Washington, and Seattle.
00:43Friday, we got more record highs.
00:45Vegas may tie a record at 111.
00:47Grand Junction should break a record and Salt Lake City should smash the record high for the date at 105
00:53degrees.
00:54This weekend, the heat holds that there will be a gradual shift eastward into the plains into mid-August.
