00:03great night for hate watching last night hey real quick should I read anything into the update
00:07that Iserman was going to be doing the day-to-day in the interim and now isn't I don't think
00:13that's
00:13a shock it's I think more of the shock is you know they're relying on a search firm it's not
00:21that uncommon right no it's not it's it's it's very common in in college athletics I think more
00:26so than in professional sports Illich did it to get Scott Harris I was just going to say I think
00:31they did it with the Tigers deal too no I don't really bat an eye at that I mean the
00:35timing again
00:36is maybe the biggest stressor but I don't know I raised an eyebrow at the Iserman thing I mean it's
00:42it's not a surprise they don't want him making decisions that's why he's no longer the general
00:46manager right but it sounds like any interim duties he has take it off his plate yeah and I think
00:53from
00:53Iserman's perspective too like okay if you don't want me making these decisions then then I it's
00:58either all or nothing yeah say I can go put my toes in the sand if if that's the preference
01:02I'm a senior
01:03advisor my phone's on let me know if you need anything yeah yeah you want to bounce any ideas
01:07off of me I'm here for you if not the phone's not ringing right I don't know last night Tarek
01:13Scoobel's first game as a as a Los Angeles Dodger and it paired beautifully because it led into the
01:18late night Tiger game yeah I mean they they first pitch was 805 you know Tarek Scoobel on the mound
01:23uh and I know early on it was it was kind of one of those things were like uh you
01:29know the rich just
01:30got richer and they did but um you know six up six down three strikeouts and then you have the
01:36home run
01:37uh and then you know he comes out after six which we have seen so many times 85 pitches only
01:4485 pitches
01:45huh you don't say um and they lose and they haven't won since they traded for him and we haven't
01:51lost since we traded Scoobel were you were you hate watching absolutely I was can we put this to bed
01:55too by the way I mean I'll put the call out we're not doing Detroit Dodgers right like you know
02:00there's
02:01Detroit Rams and people rooted for Stafford we're not doing the Detroit Dodgers right no I don't think
02:07there's anybody that is is actively rooting for the Dodgers or for Tarek Scoobel no I don't I don't want
02:13I'm not going to wish any ill will um I'm not rooting for Scoobel individually no I'm not rooting
02:21for him but I'm also not sitting there rooting against them I may root against the Dodgers just
02:25because I want the Dodgers to lose and I'm enjoying a five game losing streak I hope it gets to
02:29six and
02:30seven I was happy when they gave up that second run last night yeah to take the lead yeah you
02:36know
02:36previously they got a ground ball and they went home to keep it tied and but then like kind of
02:40a weird
02:40ball in the infield scores the second round I was happy yeah happy to see him give up the run
02:44no
02:44one's rooting for the Dodgers and I'd say this about Scoobel and it's a difference between him
02:48and Stafford or him and JV when Stafford and JV left it's because the team was going south and into
02:55a
02:55rebuild right yes those guys didn't do this farewell tour that never really felt genuine
03:07they didn't hide injuries they didn't have one foot out the door while asking their team to buy
03:12an ad it's just a different circumstance like the Tigers made the playoffs the last couple years
03:17it wouldn't have been outrageous for him to truly want to be here but he wanted to hit free agency
03:22it's different than than what happened with JV and Stafford so the Detroit Rams thing part of it was
03:28a line suck that year right that was Campbell's first season they won three games right three 13 and
03:32won so that that was a huge factor and some of those people getting those shirts and do it because
03:38the Lions were irrelevant so let me ask you this question and I you were watching the game right
03:46Kyle Tucker gets up and they are booing him because he was with the Cubs last year and I know
03:52he signed
03:53a big contract and you know things didn't work I didn't have the season and and so now all of
03:56a sudden
03:57he's back in Chicago he's a villain what happens when Scoobel because they're going to
04:02come to Detroit at the end of August and it does look like it it lines up that he is
04:08going to be
04:08pitching I believe it's on that Saturday uh I thought I saw someone say the 28th I don't know
04:14what day that is I mean that's a Friday I don't know it's it's the opening game Friday I think
04:19it's
04:19going to line up for him to pitch that weekend though yeah I mean look we're so far out there's
04:23rain outs there's all kinds of things that can happen right but if he does I know where your
04:28questions sure are Detroit fans going to treat him the same way that Chicago fans treated Kyle
04:33Tucker Paul's nodding his head I don't know they should they should boo him that's different than
04:40opposing player that's different than will though I think you have every right to boo him will people
04:46actually do it though are so I'm just curious okay what is the reason for the boot just because
04:54he's an opposing player or because there's part of the evil empire well but but it's also hey he
04:59you know he wanted it rightfully so he wanted to get the free agency but the tour day Detroit the
05:06the everything that happened here and his comments and even his comments yesterday or two days ago
05:11when he's asked about being with the Dodgers and he talks about well they do a great job of adding
05:15players yeah because they could pay more than everybody else I got no sympathy for complainers was
05:20was part of his quote yeah is there going to be a reaction a negative reaction it's just I
05:28because the last time he left the mound it was a standing ovation I was just going to say that
05:31and
05:31is it is it going to flip that quickly for those fans I don't know I don't think he's going
05:37to get
05:37booed right or wrong I don't think but I can't speak for an entire city we can take a few
05:42calls and
05:43are you going to buy a ticket and and boo him 248-539-9797 it'll be a hot ticket oh
05:49I would
05:50anticipate it'll be a hot ticket especially especially if they're in in a position they're
05:54in a wild card position that's going to say that game and a half back renewed energy we'll get to
05:58that at 935 but right now a little hate watch talk scuba last night Dodger game did you watch
06:02did you root against him and is there anybody who's team Detroit Dodgers are people going to
06:07root for scuba in the Dodgers or is this different because I think it's different I think it's way
06:11different um especially since it's mid-season like the whole Stafford thing that happened after the
06:16season and there was a lot of people that you know understood why he wanted out scuba is similar
06:24to Scherzer Detroit had no love for max after he left scuba will get the fetter off treatment for a
06:31decade but then we'll warm up to him after he retires tom and flat rock Detroit Dodgers hell no
06:38he hasn't earned that right Stafford earned it he had love from the fans he went out and played
06:43with a badly separated shoulder in meaningless games scuba can't throw more than six innings
06:48in season defining games no chance in hell we were from ever again Kyle and Ann Arbor I'll give
06:54you this that again in the last two years postseason included scuba made 50 starts only four of them
06:59did he throw a hundred or more pitches so when we get people he gave him everything he had well
07:04up to
07:04about pitch 95 right um was there any part of you yesterday as as the pitch count started to go
07:10up
07:10thinking okay he's where he ultimately wanted to be was he gonna go 95 or 100 pitches for them where
07:19he wouldn't for us ink's not dry on a new deal John so 85 is all I got giving them
07:25same treatment 85 is
07:26all I got I don't know isn't that part of it isn't that don't you wonder that that's part of
07:31it
07:31sure until a guy has the security security then all of a sudden hey he's gonna go 105 110 115
07:37pitches
07:38I don't know maybe maybe he's just a limited athlete not root for scuba but I will root I will
07:44root for Casey Mize um not the podgers as a whole but when Mize pitches I will watch and root
07:50for him
07:50I think there's a very different sentiment for Casey Mize than there is for Tarek scuba and Tarek
07:55scuba was a two-time side one exactly you're throwing a flag on that I mean I Casey Mize I
08:02would
08:02probably you know would be all positive and you'd but not the ovation that I think scuba should get I
08:08don't hold the stuff against scuba like some people do I don't hold Seattle against them that
08:14was mutual and it'd be nice if you could uh score runs in the next eight innings I agree you
08:21know
08:22yeah he did but you hold it against him that he hid the injury and it caused him to miss
08:27respect for
08:27scuba look first off I'm a little jaded because I went to the game in Cleveland when he beat him
08:32in the carpenter home run and he did that to their crowd I love that and I miss that to
08:37sports when he
08:38got the strikeout to in that inning he put his two arms up and said bring it that's like a
08:43wrestling
08:43move in the professional sports world I loved it I saw it happen with my own eyes I didn't see
08:48the
08:48replay and I'm like you know what F yeah you know let's go right now I was so fired up
08:55and to win the
08:56two Cy Youngs and I actually have a respect for what his ultimate agenda here is he's a high-ranking
09:03union official and he is trying to set the next line as a major league baseball player and pitcher
09:11the next bar I'm not always for unions I'm 50-50 on him but his representation and what they're trying
09:19to do here I always believe the number one goal from school when Boris is we're setting the bar
09:25right but I don't think he cares about setting the bar for other players to then be able to go
09:29over
09:30I think he just cares about how much can he make himself I don't agree with that which it's not
09:35wrong he's on the executive committee of the union he goes he that eight-man committee goes right to
09:40the director of the union they're trying to set set a new bar in terms of pay structure going into
09:47the
09:47lockout I respect that if you're a union guy like you got to realize that's one of the things I'll
09:53call out
09:53about this city and nobody ever talks about that okay this is a union city right and I don't know
10:00how if you're a union guy you're a union guy you should have mutual respect just because it's
10:04ridiculous absurd money at the baseball level the the the principles of the debate are the same no
10:11matter how much you make but I think you're missing a key element so yeah fan for life moment when
10:16you
10:16were at the playoff game in Cleveland and the Cy Youngs and the dominance and he certainly had moments
10:20that made you feel good he also had moments like hiding an injury which caused him to miss a pivotal
10:25stretch this season right which could create issues for the union and it felt like every time he opened
10:31his mouth he became less likable like these are factors yeah I agree he's not flawed okay but if I'm
10:38going to choose to cheer or boo him I'm going to cheer him for the good he's the number one
10:43reason why this
10:44team created memories the last couple years not anybody else right he was their best player each
10:51of the last two seasons yes I but I do think that there is an underlying disdain for how he
11:01went about
11:01his business it's a sour feeling yeah and I wonder if that translates to booze at the end of the
11:07month
11:07look at Scherzer it's a Boris client when Scherzer uh in the 2013 ALCS he he kind of brought himself
11:15out of that game guess who fought last year to stay in the game why because he made his bank
11:22I mean I think Scuba would do the same thing down the road until he does
11:29Texas I watch the Dodgers every chance I get now I want him to do well I also want the
11:34Tigers to beat
11:35the Dodgers in the World Series to quote the Joker you get what you effing deserve Joe and Fenton
11:43last night was glorious I hate watched I hate gambled I took the under on his strikeouts in the Cubs
11:47money line made a few bucks off my hate there you go uh congrats guys we've found a way to
11:56make
11:56Scuba a story for another day walleye walleye walleye he pitched on national tv there was an interest in
12:03him we are I think what's important though is today is a big day in turning the corner
12:09we can separate Scuba fatigue from maybe some fatigue that was setting in with the Tigers I
12:14actually find the Tigers to be refreshing now there's a huge relief that he doesn't have to
12:21be a part of a black cloud of a conversation of anything that's going on with this team now
12:27or in the future I would say this we got the twitch fees Scuba Scuba suffering from
12:31Boris Taint I agree with that I think this is what I think he's taking some bullets for the things
12:38that Boris has done yeah I mean that's part of why you pay an agent is to take that word
12:43either as
12:43image or the way you just took it I right uh 935 we are going to get into this renewed
12:50energy around
12:51our baseball team we won't mention what's his name the left-hander who used to pitch here we'll talk
12:54about Troy Melton the new ace 97 pitches in a shutout we'll get to that at 935 John you had
13:00an
13:00interesting note from the college football uh a poll that came out yesterday yeah and we'll get a
13:05chance to talk about that next 97-1
