00:01yeah hey joe well in the context of this case alan jones is facing trial after pleading not
00:07guilty to 22 charges in title those include 20 counts of indecent assault and two counts of
00:13sexual touching relating to six male complainants between 2003 and 2020 today we heard more evidence
00:21from the first complainant to be a witness called in this trial that codenamed complainant j because
00:28you cannot identify them in any way now the prosecution wrapped up their questions with
00:35complainant j where they asked him about some more specific allegations he had made about
00:39some trips that he had made with mr jones alone to his fitzroy falls property in the southern
00:46highlands he says that on multiple occasions that he was touched in the genitals and kissed without
00:53his consent with mr jones at that property he also alleges that he went to go have a shower and
01:00mr jones told him when he came back to be only wearing a robe and nothing else he says there
01:06was an interaction that took place in his bedroom there that fitzroy falls property where he says
01:11he then again touched his genitals without his consent and he says he felt trapped in that
01:18situation and that he couldn't uh speak out and he froze uh and then he just wanted to leave uh
01:24and
01:24go home uh when he was confronted by mr jones in in that situation we also heard some other graphic
01:30details as well but there was a chance as well for uh mr jones and his defense team to try
01:35and poke
01:35some holes in this complainant's evidence they're trying to paint him as an unreliable uh witness and
01:40trying to question his uh credibility and how they've been doing that so far is referencing some
01:45sydney morning herald herald articles that were written back in december 2023 uh and they pointed
01:51out some similarities between some allegations made in those articles and the allegations being made by
01:56complainant jay uh but complainant jay says he never read those articles before he reported his
02:02allegations to police and he did that in uh november 2024 a couple days after mr jones had been arrested
02:09and he said he did that after he saw news of mr jones being arrested he contacted the police station
02:14that he was taken to and he and he made his reports and gave a statement to uh police there
02:19we also
02:19heard from the defense as well that uh mr jones had provided this person a uh a character reference
02:25when he was uh being sentenced for uh some driving offenses uh the the complainant jay is still uh is
02:32still under cross-examination uh today and mr jones like i said has denied any wrongdoing
02:38and where to now in this case well the complainant will continue to be examined by uh mr jones's uh
02:46lawyers they they've kind of previewed that they'll move forward with uh the character reference that i
02:51spoke about before and they'll continue to question his credibility and put forward exactly what they
02:57are trying to say uh how the judge in this case because this is a judge alone trial should take
03:02the
03:02evidence and whether or not uh that he should dismiss the evidence that's been given by uh complainant jay
03:08uh so far and a bit of context as well about complainant jay we heard in the first day that
03:12he
03:12was a young athlete and that's how he came to know mr jones uh and then that mr jones over
03:18time over
03:18several years began to pay him around 450 to 600 dollars a week had purchased him a car and um
03:25told him
03:25he was giving him the money so he didn't need to uh go and get a job and and couldn't
03:30focus on his
03:31his training as well as a bit about about the relationship that he brought up in that uh in
03:35that first day in the first hearing as well uh but we'll hear more evidence uh from this witness
03:39there's plenty more witnesses to be called more than 70 in total those six complainants are
03:43are among them and this uh trial is expected to last a few months joe
