00:00Boy, I'll tell you what, one of my favorite segments every time we get an opportunity to talk Yankee baseball
00:04is to bash the Yankees.
00:06And I got to tell you, man, I just don't get it, what's going on in New York right now.
00:10Look, oh, I do get it.
00:13It's Hal Steinbrenner.
00:15What's the one common denominator since the boss hasn't been around?
00:21It's been Hal Steinbrenner.
00:23Hal and then Hank.
00:24These guys are not in it to win.
00:29They're in it to kind of win.
00:32I want you to hear one of the absolute stupidest things on the planet here in a second here by
00:37Hal Steinbrenner.
00:38But before we do that, let me just say this to you.
00:41So he's going to extend Brian Cashman, and they're going to have Aaron Boone come back for his final series.
00:50They have not offered him an extension past 2027.
00:54So basically, he's in his final season of managing the New York Yankees.
00:59He's won one pennant in nine years.
01:02One pennant.
01:04And I'm talking Aaron Boone.
01:06Brian Cashman has been the general manager of the Yankees for 28 years.
01:11And in the last 15 years, it's been some of the worst baseball.
01:15I'm not talking about winning 90 games and winning a hat.
01:19Winning a hat and winning the American League East, that's not what the Yankees were under George Steinbrenner.
01:26The Yankees wanted the parades.
01:28They wanted the Canyon of Heroes, not the hats.
01:32The Yankees are playing for hats now.
01:34Here's Hal Steinbrenner talking about Aaron Boone and the great job he did this year managing.
01:41I thought Boone, talking about this season, I thought Boone managed a good season, especially with the pitching staff.
01:50You know, we had a lot of additions and subtractions in the rotation throughout the course of the season.
01:55Our bullpen was absolutely exhausted by the end of the season.
01:59You know, he got through all that, and he got us to the playoffs.
02:02And the bottom line is the players didn't live up to their end.
02:06Congratulations for not robbing a bank.
02:08So I thought he had a good season.
02:09I mean, you know, Brian, I'm sure, has his thoughts, too.
02:12But that's my take on it.
02:15Congratulations on not robbing a bank.
02:19Seriously, congratulations on not robbing a bank.
02:22Hey, guess what?
02:23He got us to the postseason.
02:24You know, we won games.
02:25We did everything we possibly could to win as many games as we did.
02:29Don't break your arm off, pat yourself on the back here, for doing something that you're expected to do.
02:36You're the manager of the New York Yankees.
02:39Give me a break.
02:40And now, also, hey, Judge was kind of critical of the front office, right?
02:46Hal, right there.
02:48Okay, remember, Hal was blaming basically the players and saying that Boone did a great job, right?
02:54Okay.
02:55So remember Aaron Judge made some comments about we need to get some changes in here.
02:59We need to do some things.
03:00So, Hal was asked the question.
03:03He heard those comments from Aaron Judge.
03:05Here's what he said.
03:06Yeah, I did not listen to the entire interview.
03:09I was told about two or three other quotes.
03:11Yes.
03:12B.S.
03:12Was I upset about it?
03:14No.
03:14If I was a player, I would have expectations that my ownership group would do everything in their power every
03:20offseason to field a team that could win a championship.
03:23There's nothing wrong with expectations.
03:25We did that this year.
03:26We had the highest payroll in the history of the organization.
03:29You know, we got to a point later in the offseason where we still felt we weren't good enough.
03:34So we went out and signed Bellinger to a huge contract.
03:38Glad we did.
03:38He's a good player.
03:39So I definitely think we went all in this season.
03:42I definitely think we had a team that was every bit capable of winning a championship.
03:47No, it did not work out.
03:48It did not work out.
03:49And by the way, I have expectations of my players.
03:52You know, I expect them to obey the rules, to work hard, listen to their coaches and the trainers and
03:57the strength guys.
03:58You know, expectations are a good thing.
04:00I mean, any relationship in life is a two-way street.
04:03And part of that is having expectations of each other.
04:06So, no, I didn't buy it at all.
04:09Look at Brian Cash that's sitting there calling, what am I doing here?
04:12Aaron and I had a great conversation yesterday over a number of subjects, as we always do.
04:15We've got some decisions that need to be made right after the World Series is over, essentially.
04:19And that's something we have more time on.
04:21And he's going to be a part of all that.
04:24So, yeah, that's the deal.
04:29That's the deal.
04:31Well, hey.
04:34You see Brian Cashman.
04:36Put that picture up of these two guys.
04:38Look at Cashman sitting over there like dumb and dumber, these two dudes sitting there.
04:44Look at Brian Cashman, who's done nothing in the last 20 years as a New York Yankee general manager.
04:51I ask you guys this question.
04:53If George Steinbrenner was alive, would Brian Cashman have a job?
04:57Would Aaron Boone have survived nine years of okay baseball?
05:03Dude, the Yankee standard has fallen.
05:06Used to be that they hung World Series pennants.
05:09Now, we're hoping to win American League East.
05:11And by the way, you lost the American League East to guess what?
05:17A hundred million dollar payroll in the Tampa Bay Rays.
05:23These guys make chicken, you know what, in the chicken soup.
05:27And these guys make it happen.
05:30Eric Neander is a better general manager.
05:32And Kevin Cash is a better manager.
05:35And that's why those dudes are in the World Series.
05:37And the Yankees are at home.
05:39Counting house money.
05:41Or, yeah, making sure the money there.
05:42And the Yankees are at home.
