00:00We also heard from Hal Steinbrenner today who defended Cashman, defended Boone and actually pointed the finger at the players
00:09and the lack of them hitting the ball.
00:12I thought that was actually refreshing. Reminded me of the old man, you know, telling the Dave Wingfields of the
00:19world, you suck and you can't do it anymore.
00:22I thought it was actually pretty, pretty good instead of the same old rhetoric. I didn't expect him to throw
00:27the players under the bus.
00:28Yes, George Steinbrenner, after, you know, having Reggie, Mr. October, he called Winfield, I think Mr. May.
00:34I think that's what he did and pissed Winfield off, too. Yeah, I remember. I remember those days.
00:39So, you know, look, I mean, this this should not be expected and or unexpected, excuse me.
00:46And listen, for the Yankees, the Yankees have been say what you want about them under the new Steinbrenners and
00:54under Cashman.
00:55And they've been the model of consistency, which is winning a lot, not winning in the postseason, winning a lot
01:01of the regular season and then running it back pretty much the same way every year.
01:05And I know that that frustrates people. And I understand that. And they'll try to reconfigure the roster.
01:10But a very big message was sent, Joe. I mean, I mean, look, say you can you can you can
01:15disagree and that's fine.
01:17But there's no vote of confidence for Aaron Boone. I don't care what anybody says.
01:22They could easily give Aaron Boone two, three more years on that contract and then not have to discuss it
01:27all next year.
01:28They did not. So he's going into the as a manager in the big leagues, the final year of his
01:33contract with the New York Yankees.
01:34That's rare in baseball to see that happen. Usually you give the manager another year just so you don't have
01:39to go through that.
01:40So if the Yankees have a tough season or a season that doesn't I don't know what you think, Joe,
01:46but I think if the Yankees don't get to the World Series for winning, it is who the heck knows.
01:51You saw what happened last year. But if the Yankees don't get to the World Series next year,
01:55I think they'll probably end up making a change of manager.
01:59I just don't know that they can buy. I mean, the other problem is, do we have any idea as
02:06far as free agents next year?
02:10I mean, we really have no idea who might or might not be available at what price, at what cost.
02:16Right. Moving forward until we get something, something established.
02:24Looks like we lost Joe there. We'll see if we can get him.
02:30Direction that that may even be heading in.
02:32Well, well, we're less than, you know, two weeks away from free agency opening up.
02:38So that that's a real thing, Joe. There's going to be free agency in Major League Baseball in a couple
02:42of weeks.
02:42And a lot of players are going to get signed in a couple of weeks.
02:45Yes. Not knowing what the future is going to be, because teams can't wait.
02:49They can't wait to have a new potentially CBA in February or March.
02:54You may have the most active November that you've ever had.
02:57I don't know that for a fact, but it does seem like that's the preparation for it.
03:01So if the Yankees are going to do damage in free agency, it's probably going to have to be right
03:05away.
03:05But I see their roster configuration.
03:07And again, I don't have the identification of the players or anything yet.
03:10I see it coming from trades.
03:11It's that's the way that I see the Yankees.
03:13Not that they can't sign guys, but this free agent market is is not great.
03:18Like, I don't I don't see a ton of game changing type players out there that the Yankees can sign.
03:25I mean, I think Rosarino is probably Randy Rosarino is probably like the one guy that everybody wants.
03:31And and and he'll do a tour and end up signing for a lot more money than anybody thinks.
03:36But he's about as rock solid as a player as it gets.
03:39I think he was second or third in war in the American League.
03:42So I would expect him to cash in.
03:44And it feels like that's a good fit, actually, for the Yankees, too.
03:47But I don't know that he's going to end up going there.
03:50And it could he could end up somewhere else.
03:52We'll see.
03:55Does jazz return there?
03:57No, no, no, no, no, no.
03:59You know that.
04:00Come on.
04:00It's a joke.
04:01That was that was.
04:04But there are some guys that the pitching staff returns.
04:08Right.
04:09They're going to roll back the same guys there.
04:11So as they should.
04:13And as they should.
04:14And farm systems.
04:16The Yankees just don't have one anymore.
04:18Right.
04:18Didn't they just mortgage it all for for guys like Cole and others and freed?
04:25I mean, they always seemingly have overhyped guys there.
04:28Like Spencer Jones was the next.
04:30I don't know.
04:31I don't know who.
04:32And Dominguez was the next.
04:33I don't know who.
04:34But but they always do a good job with international and signing guys.
04:39And look, in the end, I know he had some trouble defending and all that.
04:44But let's let's give a pause to George Lombard Jr.
04:47I would assume he's going to be a pretty good player.
04:49I agree.
04:50And next year, a year older and going through it a second time, I would guess that that's
04:54a nice piece for the future for them.
04:56But no, Jazz is is is not Grisham is not, you know, Stanton.
05:02There's really nothing to say at this point, except for you get what you get out of him.
05:05And yeah, they're going to have to get some more bat to ball guys and more guys put the
05:10ball in play.
05:11That's obvious.
