00:02Hi Ballinteriors! My name is Shayla, I'm the founder of Ballinteriors and finally you get
00:07to take a peek into my paradise. Come on in. We built this house in 2020, so during the pandemic,
00:26and there was actually nothing here. It wasn't a rice field, it was like an abandoned lot.
00:32The location was just super beautiful, it overlooks rice fields and we were looking for
00:37about a year to get this location and when we finally found it we thought this is it. So I
00:43had
00:43the help of architect called Sylvia Furman and then she helped me bring this vision into life. We
00:49spent money than we actually really wanted to but instead we decided to make it as a home and also
00:55as an office. The kitchen, it was very wide, the ceiling, and I wanted to bring some warmth into it
01:07so we decided to put these wooden beams at the top and they're actually, they are veneer beams so they
01:13are cheaper than they look but they look so beautiful and it really added so much warmth to
01:20the space. As before, it looked very wide and very sterile.
01:27So this is the dining room, it's kind of dining and kitchen together. I always wanted to have a
01:32beautiful open kitchen that you could be cooking and entertaining at the same time and so a lot of
01:38the objects that you see here, they're all from Indonesian or Bali-based artisan. For example, the
01:43table is from Lucas from Indigo who made me this table in exchange for photos. Then I got this
01:49this chest from Jess Living, who is also another amazing factory in Bali.
01:59When I was building this house, I started collecting furniture. So before the house was finished,
02:04this is one of those items that I got at a Kim Soo sale and it was awesome and I
02:08was like,
02:09I hope, I'm just going to cross my fingers that it's going to fit in my house. And it actually
02:13did perfectly. So I got these sofas then to mirror each other, so to create a really nice cozy space.
02:21So this living room is composed of many different factors but one that is really special to me is
02:26this lamp from Onsen Kuang. I love how it ties up with all the space and everyone that comes here,
02:32everybody looks at it like, where did you get that? I love that lamp. And I just adore him and
02:37I love
02:37everything he designs. So I'm so grateful to have one of his pieces in my house.
02:47This is one of the guest bedrooms and we got most of the furniture or almost all of the furniture
02:54from a company based in Indonesia called Anada. And they are great manufacturers and they're actually
03:00amazing because they were able to do all these cool things that I had ideas for. Like,
03:04I wanted to have these very sleek legs and a marble table top and I love this chair. And then
03:13we have
03:13actually two portraits there and they're my photography. So I'm a photographer. So I tried to put
03:19them in some of the rooms to showcase my photography. So this bathroom is a bit of a funny story.
03:26It was,
03:27we never intended to have a bathtub here, but when they brought it in, they realized they couldn't
03:32bring it upstairs. They're like, either we're going to take them back or you can keep it. So we're like,
03:37okay, let's just keep it. And we're like, well, we're going to put it. And we had this space. So
03:41this
03:41was actually going to be a big garden. And then we're like, okay, we actually do have the space for
03:45it. So we ended up being here. I kind of did a bit of a renovation in this room because
03:50it was kind of like a
03:50little bit antiquey, a little bit different. And I got Paloma hardware to bring this shower, which I
03:57love this kind of finish. And I love, it looks a little bit antique and it actually goes perfect
04:04in this bathroom.
04:09So, as I said before, one of the things that I didn't want to compromise when I built this house
04:14was the courtyard. It's great because it allows airflow in the living and dining. So it's always a
04:20breeze. It never feels hot. And we actually don't even have air-conditioned. We only have fans and we
04:25rarely use them. So the office is very utilitarian, like in the rest of the house, you see lots of
04:31antiques and lots of like, you know, very special items. But the truth is that in an office, we use
04:37this space actually a lot and we, it's a really comfortable space. It has aircon, it has a fan.
04:42And again, you can see two of my photographs on the wall. So all the mattresses that we got in
04:48the
04:48house are from Hebeya, which is a brand that I absolutely adore. And they do all these organic
04:55mattresses and they're based in Bali.
05:02Let me take you upstairs.
05:08So this is my daughter's room. And also, instead of getting wallpaper, I decided to hire
05:14an artist to paint the wall and I love it. It looks so cool. She actually got to choose her
05:19designs
05:20and we loved it ever since. Her room is a little bit different and she has a little sofa because
05:27she's a bit more grown up now. So she loves to hang out here with her friends and chill and
05:33like
05:33chit chat. And then she gets to look through this beautiful view.
05:41And this is the last bedroom, which is the master bedroom.
05:51So this is the master bedroom and it's definitely the biggest one of all of the bedrooms that we have.
05:57And I love it. It makes me so happy when I, when I sleep here and opening my eyes and
06:02seeing
06:03the rice fields and they're always changing. So you always get a different view and a different
06:08perspective on the Bali life. This room is a bit of a, it's a lot of different brands here. We
06:14have,
06:15this one is from Bale, the American brand that also manufactures in Bali. And we have this from
06:21another, the rug from a friend of mine that also didn't fit in her space anymore. And she was selling,
06:27so we got it as well.
06:28And then we have this beautiful bedside table lights. They're from my dear friend,
06:32Lumiere Chase. And we have them all around the house because I just love everything she does.
06:42So this is the master bathroom. I love this bathroom so much. It has a beautiful bathtub and
06:48you know, this bathtub has memories of my kids growing up here and giving them bath. I love the space
06:54of it.
06:55And we kept it very minimal. We chose this style as well to go with it. And we've put micro
07:00cement on the walls. And then we did these beautiful tiles also from Sato Stiles to just have like a
07:06strip that ties it all together.
07:13So this is the outdoor area and we have spent so much time here. One of my favorite people in
07:18the
07:19island is Diane and she helped me with all the landscape that we see in this house. And seriously,
07:24the house wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for her. So I thank you, Diane. You're amazing for
07:29making this house look as beautiful as it is. And this is the kind of like area where we can
07:35sit and
07:36chat. And this area, I actually love sitting here either really early morning or sunset time to sit
07:42and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. So this space, I always wanted to have some
07:48green
07:48green. And it actually feels small, but it's not that small, this green space. And my kids have played
07:53here before. They all like play with water. They play soccer. And it's such a great space. And I love
07:59having a little bit of grass so you can sit and walk and feel the grass under your face.
