00:06Kimi Onoda just visited Japan's largest prison where one in four inmates are foreigners and called for strict measures against
00:13crime.
00:14So we've been trying to find some legitimate original sources for this, but all we keep getting is more clickbait
00:21and attention-seeking and nonsense.
00:24Exactly the same wording or slightly different wording with a slightly different picture, but same story.
00:29Just posted by loads of different clickbaiters and attention-seekers.
00:33So we don't know for sure if she did actually visit the prison or not.
00:37However, the most important part of this story that has been purposefully neglected is that this is Fuchu Prison.
00:47And Fuchu Prison actually has an international division that specializes in foreigners.
00:53So it's set up for foreigners.
00:55They have all sorts of language and cultural stuff to allow them to deal with the foreigners better.
01:00So as a result of that, lots of foreigners get sent to Fuchu Prison, which means that's why one in
01:07four prisoners at this prison would be foreigners.
01:12So neglecting to include that information that Fuchu Prison specializes in foreigners and as an international division gives the wrong
01:20impression, doesn't it?
01:21On purpose.
01:22I mean, that's how these attention-seekers and clickbaiters get their attention, is by taking something that's based on fact
01:29and then presenting it in a way that makes it more spectacular or dramatic or attention-seeking than it would
01:36be otherwise if you included all the facts.
01:38So the most important fact that they left out was this prison specializes in international prisoners.
01:45The other piece of information that might have been useful, if they're really interested in presenting information rather than just
01:51getting clicks, is that the total prison population of Japan, only 7.6 are foreigners.
02:00Which obviously, if 1% are foreigners, that's too many, isn't it?
02:03But let's at least get the numbers right.
02:05Alright, so 7.6% of prisoners in Japan are foreigners.
