00:02So it feels like it's anybody's golf tournament as we head into that back nine.
00:07And I want to get us to the 13th tee because I think this was probably the most crucial tee
00:13shot.
00:13And I saw a couple guys try to take this on.
00:15If 13's a reimagined par four, they've changed the hole since 2017.
00:20And what it gave the opportunity for players to do was to hit driver in a place where there wasn't
00:26a whole lot of room.
00:27The rough kind of change.

00:39You're playing a new driver, a new Strixon driver, the ZXI RKT.

00:49And I want you to talk about that driver, why you like it so much.
00:52But why did you like it so much on the 13th hole specifically?
00:56Because that is a risky tee shot to hit driver on that hole.
01:01Yeah.
01:01So in terms of the driver, I've been using a prototype model.
01:06I don't know if I'm allowed to say this, but at this point it doesn't really matter, does it?
01:09So I've been using a prototype model, very similar for a while.
01:13And I've loved it.
01:16And I actually did a bunch of driver testing before the Scottish Open.
01:22I wasn't that happy with how I drove to the US Open in Travellers.
01:27I kind of changed shaft a little bit at home just to test it out.
01:33And I was really happy, going back to an old shaft I used to use, and I was really happy
01:37with that.
01:37I did some more driver testing on Monday at the Scottish and was like, it worked out really well that
01:45the old shaft was the right one.
01:47I had a couple of the prototype heads, and I had the new RKT head, and it just worked out
01:54better in that RKT head.
01:56So I had three or four heads that I was messing around with.
01:59I had a couple of shafts I was messing around with.
02:01And that combo of the RKT head, it was like one of the Ventus TR black shafts.
02:08And that just worked better.
02:12And I drove it the best I'd driven it in a long time in Scotland.
02:17So I had a little bit of confidence in it anyway last week.
02:22And then I drove it okay the first round, but I was probably a bit more conservative than the game
02:29plan was the rest of the week.
02:30I did hit driver on 13 the first day, but we played it when it was like into the wind,
02:34and I didn't get driver to the bunker.
02:36Like I had a really good drive, and I had seven iron, and I hit it to about six foot,
02:41missed it.
02:41But the rest of the week, I felt really good with driver.
02:46I also, like I saw a lot of guys take the golf course on.
02:49Obviously, the rough was down in places.
02:51And I kind of took the theory that if you hit it in the rough and it's far up, like
02:57you can still get it up and near the green a lot of times.
03:01Or worst case, you can still generally get a wedge shot in for your third.
03:05But if you're laying it back and you don't get it right, you're no good.
03:12And if you're laying it back, and even if you get it in a fairway, like you've got 200 yards
03:16into a lot of those holes if you're trying to lay it back.
03:19It was hard.
03:20So my theory the whole week was to be aggressive.
03:23And that was also after watching guys Thursday afternoon hit driver off a bunch more holes than I was going
03:31to.
03:32And so I kind of took that theory Friday because I needed to play well to make the cut.
03:36It worked.
03:37And then Saturday, same thing.
03:39And then Sunday, like I'd hit two bad drives down 13 on Friday and Saturday trying to hit driver and
03:47not pulled it off.
03:48And then, yeah, get up on 13 on Sunday.
03:52And like, I don't know, I've made a pretty, like, very poor par on 12.
03:58Like, almost, I miss hit 9-9 awful.
04:01I had a really good number in there.
04:03Like, I hit it right out of the bottom, like low, gets knocked down, goes in the front bunker.
04:07I'm like, just please don't be up against the lip.
04:09It was, and I got it up and down.
04:10I'm like, I just got, I got to do something.
04:12Like, I'm...
04:13No or never.
04:14Yeah, the whole day, I was like, I want to, I don't know if I'll be in the situation again.
04:19I want to at least give it a go.
04:21I'd rather go down swinging than whatever.
04:23And that decision on 13 to hit driver was just, was kind of that.
04:29Need something to kickstart it.
04:30I'm not going to make birdie hitting two iron, six iron in there.
04:34And, like, I hammered that drive.
04:36Like, it was perfect.
04:38And it, yeah, it's kind of suited my eye.
04:40Like, I hit it, I tend to like to hit a fade.
04:43Um, my miss is a little bit right anyway, as a miss.
04:48So, like, you could get lucky if you missed it right.
04:50It wasn't guaranteed, but you could still get a lie and get it up near the green if you did
04:54miss it right.
04:55But hit it solid.
04:57And I just aimed at that, like, the right edge of that left bunker.
05:01And just go and just hit it at that and let it fade on the wind.
05:03And I absolutely hammered it.
05:05And I don't know how far that drive went, but I had a lot of wind in there, so.
