00:05and then to get on the field today, it felt good.
00:08You know, always an exciting time.
00:09Love watching the team kind of take shape through these next four or five weeks,
00:13watching the guys compete as we go into the season.
00:15So with that, I'll take any questions.
00:17How much are you enjoying?
00:19Aaron's talking about wanting to take over the defense,
00:21you know, more hands-on this year,
00:23and he seems pretty stoked about doing that.
00:25We spoke to him a little bit about it.
00:27How much will you enjoy watching that unfold?
00:29Have you noticed some things, you know, already?
00:31Oh, yeah, I've noticed it.
00:32And you're right.
00:33It's been fun to watch.
00:35It's been, you know, just even through the offseason.
00:38You know, I felt like we had good OTAs to continue to build on that,
00:41but to see him engage with the players in the meetings, on the field,
00:45I think you see it today.
00:46You see that energy and enthusiasm with the defensive play calling,
00:49him having his hands on it and be kind of in the nitty-gritty of it all.
00:53What would define a successful season for the Jets?
00:56Yeah.
00:56You know, I think we're always, we want to win, right?
00:59And I want to see these guys compete and get better every single day.
01:03That's starting today throughout training camp and throughout the season.
01:07But, yeah.
01:08Gary, we were talking to Garrett Wilson a little while ago,
01:10and he kind of brought up a good point about some of the new talent
01:13that you guys brought on both sides of the ball,
01:15coming from other organizations that have had, you know, winning success,
01:19like we just spoke about and how refreshing that is to bring that perspective in
01:24to the guys that have been here that have only known losing.
01:27How important is that to you believe
01:29and how much of a factor is that when you're bringing the guys in?
01:32Yeah, I think, I believe it can help.
01:34I believe it can help when you bring these guys in and been part of that.
01:37And it's, I'm excited to watch it.
01:39You know, I'm excited to watch some of these young guys that just got here,
01:42how they kind of take shape and take mold throughout training camp
01:45and watch them grow and watch some of our veteran players that have been here
01:48and some of the new veteran players that we brought in,
01:50kind of their role evolve and how they lead some of these young guys.
01:53So that's all part of the thing that I really enjoy during training camp,
01:58watching those things evolve and how it comes together.
02:00Are you feeling a different level of intensity or excitement this training camp
02:05compared to last year?
02:06I mean, it's day one.
02:07I think every year training camp day one is exciting, right?
02:11And I thought we had a lot of good things throughout OTA
02:14with some of the new pieces we had,
02:16and I just look forward to continuing to develop on that.
02:19You talked about scouting, you know, year one, year two jumps for players.
02:23What kind of a jump do you want to see from Aaron and Glenn year one to year two?
02:28Look, year one to year two, just kind of speaking on year one to year two,
02:34having been here for a full year with AG, with some of these players,
02:38with my staff, people in the building, there's just a lot more,
02:41there's a better comfort level going into a year two.
02:44My relationship with AG has only gotten stronger and better.
02:47We have dialogue every day.
02:49We're just much more in sync.
02:51Time on task with anybody does that for you, right?
02:53So I think we all have high expectations for ourselves.
02:57That's players, that's coaches, myself included.
03:00Can we talk about what it meant to get Hall and Tipton done early?
03:06And also, are there any other guys you'd like to get done before the start of the season?
03:09Yeah, getting Brees and Tipton done was important to us,
03:11and I'm glad we were able to do that.
03:13It was a really good process, both parties, you know,
03:17and I like where we landed with those guys.
03:18And having those guys, keeping them around, I know they're going to help this team.
03:22What about any current players you'd like to extend?
03:24I think we're in a good spot right now, but I'll always keep contract stuff kind of in-house.
03:29I asked AJ about this a little earlier, about the corporation analytics,
03:33and just, like, you kind of talked a little bit about that with your staff
03:36and the veteran market draft process and just how much you guys both invested in analytics
03:41and how much you kind of use it on a day-to-day basis.
03:43Absolutely.
03:44The analytics and the AI, right?
03:46I mean, that's been an organizational buy-in from ownership to Jaime on the business side.
03:52Obviously, Coach and I talking about it, and we've invested.
03:54I know there was an article in the summer about EWOW bringing him, and he's been tremendous.
03:58And, you know, specifically in my world and in the scouting and the personnel,
04:03there's so much data now, right?
04:05There's so much data, whether it's college, whether it's pro.
04:08But how we're deciphering the data, how we're breaking it down, how we're digesting it,
04:14how it's getting presented to me is huge, right?
04:16And I feel like we have some of the best with EWOW and Sean Clement and our analytics staff
04:19that's breaking down all the data, feeding it to me, feeding it to the coaching staff.
04:24Here's what's important.
04:25Here's what we're doing.
04:26But also challenging us on some things and us challenging them.
04:29And it's a different lens, but it's been very helpful.
04:33It's important.
04:34On the AI front, I think, to this point, what it's helped with the most is the automation of things,
04:39right?
04:40We're saving a lot of man hours being able to automate information and systems and spit it out quickly.
04:46So it's been huge.
04:48And I look forward to the continued growth as the organization with the AI and the analytics.
04:51Have you used much of the AI yourself? Have you been doing good?
04:55Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
04:56Like, we've integrated into our systems.
04:58Again, for a lot of data breakdowns, we can just do things a lot quicker,
05:03and it's allowed for more efficiency, the automation.
05:06And I toy around with, you know, the chat GPTs and the different things.
05:09We have in-house ones that we can do for different questions.
05:12But really, it's all the in-house information and the data points.
05:18That's been cool.
05:18Yeah, Geno was kind of in the headlines last month for some stuff at least down in Florida.
05:24Were you disappointed that your quarterback was in that situation?
05:27I'm excited about what's moving forward.
05:30I'm glad that's behind us.
05:31It is behind us.
05:32And I'm excited for the continued growth through the off-season and training camp.
05:36How have Adonine Mitchell kind of lived up to your expectations,
05:39and what do you hope to see if he works in tandem with Gary Wilson?
05:42I'm excited to see Adonine's continued growth.
05:45He had a good off-season, good OTAs,
05:47and expect to see that continued growth through the training camp.
05:50And I'm excited to watch him and the entire wide-out group kind of come together
05:53and see how that looks.
05:54What are your expectations with Devondre Sweat,
05:58and where is his conditioning at, his weight,
06:00and how do you view that issue?
06:02Because it's obviously something he's dealt with in the past.
06:05Yeah.
06:05All of those things, I mean, the conditioning, the weight,
06:08it was all in a very good place.
06:09Unfortunately, he had a little hamstring injury while he was training,
06:11so he'll start on NFI.
06:13But we'll work him back, and he's going to help this team.
06:16Do you like the blend of the roster right now?
06:18Obviously, you have a very young roster,
06:21but it's already a number of veterans in the free and super long.
06:24I do.
06:24I like where the roster's at, and I think you hit it.
06:26We've got a good blend of young guys,
06:28and what we believe is the right mix of vet and the right veterans
06:33to help kind of mold some of these young guys and change the culture.
06:37And I'm excited to see how the roster kind of takes shape in training camp.
06:41This is an integral part of building that roster.
06:43How do you feel about the backup quarterbacks,
06:46specifically Cade and how he's looked as a rookie coming in?
06:49Yeah, I'm excited to see Cade, like I said,
06:52throughout training camp compete and the whole room, you know,
06:55Bailey and Brady and Geno and watch those guys work and compete
06:59and see the growth throughout training camp.
07:01Last summer, you were pretty active, obviously.
07:03Phillips, Briggs.
07:04You got involved, and you talked a little bit last summer,
07:06but that process, so you guys can be active.
07:08Do you foresee yourself being active in that kind of veteran market
07:11between cuts and kind of some of those younger guys that might get
07:14kind of squeeze that roster?
07:15Is that process that you guys, what does that look like?
07:17Yeah, it starts right now.
07:18And we'll always keep a close eye on the market and the landscape,
07:23whether it's street or on other teams.
07:26Every position, I mean, we're meeting daily
07:30and having discussions about other rosters and what's on the street
07:33and what can fit on the team.
07:34But it's a fun time of year,
07:36and especially as you get those preseason games under the belt
07:39and you kind of start forecasting what teams might do certain moves
07:42and having those conversations with teams as we get into those preseason
07:46game two and three,
07:46and if there's any opportunities that, you know,
07:49you might have a match with the team to make some moves.
07:51So it's an exciting team.
07:52It's an exciting time of year and it's fun.
07:54There's a lot of speculation about whether the Jets are going to bring in
07:57a veteran backup quarterback at some point.
08:00Is that feasible?
08:02And how hard would it be to get a guy up to speed in training camp?
08:05Yeah, I won't get into the hypotheticals.
08:08I'm just excited to see Kate get his reps during training camp
08:11and watch the whole group, you know, Bailey and Brady and Geno get their reps
08:15and, you know, develop and continue to improve while they're here.
08:19And we'll keep an eye on the landscape, as we just mentioned,
08:23the entire every position across the league, on the street.
08:26That's no different for every position.

08:32Not much.
