00:00The Arizona Diamondbacks, all week long on my Game Time Decision Show,
00:05I think we talked about it a little bit last Sunday.
00:08This was my lookout team as a sleeper because I don't love them, Tom,
00:14but what I do know is that a couple of things.
00:19Number one, as we talked about during the week,
00:21they are going to play the Rockies and the Giants a lot down the stretch here.
00:28That's number one.
00:29Number two, they tend to get aggressive at these trade deadlines
00:34and sort of sneakily add some players to try to get themselves in.
00:39I saw a report that said that Corbin Burns probably will not pitch in August,
00:44but maybe late addition in September, if that.
00:48So I think Arizona probably has to be in the market for some pitching.
00:51Zach Gallen's on the injured list.
00:53But unfortunately, with the way that my Marlins have fallen back here,
00:58Arizona and Pittsburgh, to me, seem to be – they should have the most invested to move forward,
01:04I think, coming up next week.
01:06I would not be surprised to see the Diamondbacks make a major move.
01:10I mean, look through the years at what they've done.
01:12They've done Starling Marte and J.D. Martinez.
01:16And, you know, they always seem, Tom, to want to try to go for it.
01:22A couple of years ago, it got them to the World Series.
01:24They beat the Dodgers and then played against Texas.
01:26So don't be surprised with Arizona doing something off the cuff.
01:30Right, and, you know, to me it's always been, you know, I would say almost calculated risks for the Diamondbacks.
01:36They're actually, you know, smart moves.
01:37They're not some crazy swings on some random players.
01:40It's a player that fits into what they need for their lineup, for their defense, for the pitching, whatever it
01:45is.
01:45For me, I believe pitching is their biggest need at this point.
01:48And it's always been a bit of a struggle for them this season.
01:52You know, Eduardo Rodriguez has been solid.
01:54Brandon Fott, Ryan Nelson, we're not sure what we're going to get from them.
01:58Zach Gowns on the IL, as you mentioned, where they have a bunch of moving parts.
02:02And I just don't know how many front-line postseason starters they truly do have.
02:08I will say they are in a good spot to make the postseason given the dynamic of the NL wildcard.
02:14They picked up some good wins against the Athletics.
02:16They got a win over St. Louis, which was a make-up game from earlier in the year.
02:20And that's a team that they're directly competing for.
02:22They go and then take a game against the Nationals, another team that they're essentially competing with.
02:26And they have to close out the series on Sunday versus the Nationals.
02:29So they're hot right now.
02:31They're making moves.
02:31They're over .500.
02:33All signs are pointing out for the Diamondbacks right now.
