00:02Good evening, you're watching India First. I'm Gaurav Saman. It's been a day of fast-paced developments.
00:09Prime Minister Narendra Modi's midnight message to the students.
00:14He reached out to the students where he spoke of a total overhaul,
00:19where he spoke of harsh punishments for the guilty in paper leak,
00:24where he spoke of fast-track quotes, news just coming in.
00:27Sources are now telling India today there will be a massive overhaul of the National Testing Agency or the NTA.
00:36Soon we shall hear official confirmation of a massive overhaul within the Education Ministry and the National Testing Agency.
00:47Now, the NTA was mandated to conduct major entrance examinations across the country in a transparent manner,
00:55in a reliable manner and to ensure that there are no paper leaks.
00:59However, it's been a colossal letdown.
01:03Now, sources are telling India today multiple officers are likely to be either shunted out or booted out.
01:1147 officials associated with the Education Ministry and the NTA,
01:16they are likely to be removed with strict discipline reaction, likely against some of them.
01:22Now, sources are telling India today that the Centre is planning a complete overhaul,
01:27a total restructure of the National Testing Agency in the next 30 days.
01:34And this, of course, is on the basis of the recommendation of that expert committee
01:39that was constituted to reform the examination system.
01:42Now, the government's proposed changes include revamping the organisational structure existing, ending the current form.
01:52Now, the current form of NTA has huge gaps.
01:56It has just about 25 permanent staff.
01:59It relies very extensively on outsourcing model.
02:03And this outsourcing model, which means you bring in a lot of third parties,
02:07you bring in vendors, and this is where credibility and accountability both are at stake.
02:15So, the aim is now to bring in a dedicated group to ensure that there is a leak-proof examination
02:22mechanism.
02:23There are strict systems of checks and balances.
02:26The NTA currently conducts 15 of 20 national level entrance examinations,
02:31including NEET-UG, for example, J.E. Mains, the CUET for university entrance.
02:38It's the common entrance test for universities.
02:41The overhaul will be one of the most significant reforms,
02:45if undertaken in the right earnest, to reform India's examination system.
02:502017, when this was done, when NTA was brought in,
02:55and a system of reforms were undertaken, there was a lot of hope.
02:59The National Testing Agency was actually established with the aim of being this premier,
03:06specialist, autonomous, self-sustaining organization to conduct entrance examination
03:11for admissions, for fellowship, for higher educational institutions.
03:17Their aim is to assess competence of candidates for admissions.
03:20But then, unfortunately, one of the biggest challenges for the NTA from the inception
03:27was this huge mismatch between what was their task, their mandate, and their capabilities.
03:35So, matching candidates with research-based international standards, efficiency,
03:41transparency, error-free delivery, all of that has been found wanting.
03:47The Apex Court has pointed this out.
03:50Expert committees have pointed this out.
03:52The NTA is entrusted to address all such issues using the best in every field,
03:57from test preparations, to test delivery, to test markings.
04:02The objective when the NTA was set up,
04:04was to conduct efficient, transparent, and international standard tests
04:08in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission.
04:12Now, to undertake research on educational, professional testing systems,
04:16to identify gaps in the knowledge system,
04:19and then take steps to bridge this gap.
04:22Unfortunately, that didn't happen on ground.
04:26The aims were lofty,
04:28but either too few people were given too many responsibilities,
04:32which, when you look at the paper leaks,
04:36repeated paper leaks,
04:38failure to plug those gaps,
04:40stop-gap arrangements that were taken,
04:42it just goes on to show that at least some people
04:44were not doing their job effectively.
04:47There's heavy reliance on outsourcing.
04:49There's lean staffing.
04:51There are too many third-party vendors,
04:53which brings in accountability gaps.
04:56Now, look at the numbers.
04:58You have more than 20 lakh candidates
05:01taking just the neat UG examination.
05:0320, 24 lakhs in 2026,
05:0820, 24 and 22 lakhs in 2026.
05:11It's now been confirmed
05:13that the NTA news is coming in.
05:15And big story coming in,
05:17it's now been confirmed
05:18the National Testing Agency has terminated
05:2147 officials from service.
05:24Legal and criminal action will be undertaken
05:27against some of these officials.
05:31There are more reforms to follow,
05:33and this is a part of a complete overhaul
05:36of the NTA,
05:38which has been in the eye of a storm.
05:4147 officials have either been terminated
05:46or shunted,
05:47and disciplinary and legal action
05:49will be taken against them.
05:51I quickly want to bring in India today's
05:53Piyush Mishra,
05:53who's breaking the story.
05:55First and exclusive on India today.
05:58Piyush, bring us details of action taken so far.
06:04Well, it's a complete overhaul,
06:06biggest ever overhaul in NTA,
06:08and this has been done to fix the responsibility,
06:11to fix the accountability,
06:12which Education Ministry is now going to do.
06:16Remember that not only 47 officials
06:18are facing the IR.
06:21At the same time,
06:22what we are learning is that
06:23the government is going to take
06:25more and more decisions in coming days.
06:27Today, there was a meeting,
06:29cabinet meeting,
06:30which happened in the leadership
06:32of PM Narendra Modi,
06:33and after that meeting,
06:34what sources are indicating
06:36that the government decided
06:38to fix the education system.
06:40Government has been communicating this to CJP,
06:43and it was communicated to Sonam Wangchuk also,
06:46that yes, we are going to bring reforms,
06:47and it seems like government has started doing so.
06:51Sources are indicating that
06:52not only these 47 officials
06:55will be terminated,
06:57but at the same time,
06:58the government is also going to fix
07:01a lot of problems that are there in NTA.
07:03After the cabinet ended,
07:05we also got to know from our government sources
07:07that a list was prepared by government,
07:09and in coming few days,
07:12maximum in one month,
07:13NTA will be completely revamped,
07:15it will be completely overhauled,
07:17and you will see a fresh,
07:19new version of NTA,
07:21and this has been done
07:22to ensure that the system gets fixed,
07:24and there is a complete faith
07:27of students in government's agency.
07:30When you need a huge examination,
07:32you know,
07:33leaked papers were leaked,
07:34at the time itself,
07:36the government decided to do re-examination
07:37and just and just to,
07:39you know,
07:40tell people,
07:41tell students that,
07:42yes,
07:42please have faith,
07:44we want to fix responsibility,
07:45we are doing the examination,
07:46so that system can be strengthened,
07:49and when the examinations happened,
07:51it happened on the recommendations
07:52of Radha Krishna Committee.
07:53When it happened,
07:54Dramit Pratant himself
07:55had taken the responsibility,
07:57and now officials are facing the fire,
08:00they are now being sacked,
08:02legal actions will be taken,
08:04sources are indicating
08:05that in coming days,
08:06more and more actions are planned,
08:09so they will be complete.
08:10Overall,
08:10you will see a fresh,
08:11a new version of NTA.
08:13This was also demand
08:14of CJP workers,
08:16this was demand of Sonam Wong-chuk,
08:17he not only wanted education reforms,
08:20he was also requesting
08:20for discussions to happen
08:22on this entire matter,
08:23when in parliament and government
08:24should answer on this,
08:26so now,
08:26government has done it,
08:28it is going to answer,
08:29it will again request
08:30opposition to come on the floor.
08:31Stay with me for a moment,

08:38is taking this student first approach,
08:42let me get you details
08:43of what transpired,
08:44in the cabinet meeting today.
08:45Remember,
08:46late last night,
08:47it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's
08:49midnight message,
08:50to the students,
08:51where he promised,
08:52charged action,
08:53stringent action,
08:54and he gave details about,
08:55how examinations were conducted,
08:57after the paper leak,
08:59the new students,
09:00who've taken the neat exams,
09:01they're celebrating,
09:02they're doing well,
09:04but then there is an overhaul,
09:06the Prime Minister promised,
09:07strict action against those,
09:08who are found guilty,
09:09for paper leak,
09:10fast track quotes,
09:11now,
09:12taking this beyond,
09:13because the Prime Minister said,
09:14a new law will be brought in,
09:15it will be discussed in the cabinet,
09:17and then,
09:17the new bill,
09:18would be tabled,
09:19in parliament,
09:20coming week,
09:22sources have told India,
09:23today,
09:23Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
09:25has now directed,
09:26ministers in the union cabinet,
09:28to reach out to youngsters,
09:31to reach out to Gen Z,
09:32actively engage with them,
09:35in their language,
09:36on their platform,
09:37so don't just be,
09:38confined to,
09:39X and give details,
09:41also be on platforms,
09:43like Instagram,
09:44reach out to the youth,
09:46engage with them,
09:47every day,
09:49now Prime Minister,
09:50Narendra Modi,
09:51is learned to have,
09:52directed the ministers,
09:53to maintain active presence,
09:55on multiple social media platforms,
09:57simply posting,
09:58about government initiatives,
09:59is not enough,
10:00engage with students,
10:01encourage ministers,
10:03to create reels,
10:04and other interactive content,
10:05so that,
10:06ground realities,
10:07about efforts,
10:08that are being undertaken,
10:09can be communicated,
10:10directly,
10:11to these youngsters,
10:13and stay connected,
10:14to Gen Z,
10:16that's increasingly,
10:17consuming information,
10:18on digital platforms,
10:20speak to them,
10:20in the language,
10:21they understand,
10:23I once again,
10:24want to bring in,
10:25Piyush Fomo,
10:26on this Piyush,
10:27so that midnight message,
10:29of the Prime Minister,
10:30and he had his,
10:31his own mobile phone,
10:33in selfie mode,
10:34that midnight message,
10:35that went out,
10:36he was trying to reach out,
10:37to the youngsters,
10:38directly,
10:40what's his missive,
10:42to his cabinet colleagues,
10:43and how do they,
10:44intend going about this,
10:45well there's no doubt,
10:47Gaurav that,
10:48the midnight message,
10:49was for youngsters,
10:50because even,
10:52the Prime Minister,
10:52knows that,
10:54Gen Z is now,
10:55on Instagram,
10:56and they are focusing,
10:57more on short reels,
10:59short videos,
11:00and that's why,
11:00P Marendra Modi,
11:01when he made that video,
11:02it was also,
11:04less than two minutes,
11:05because he knew,
11:05that small video,
11:06can reach out to youth,
11:07in large numbers,
11:08and now,
11:09what sources are indicating,
11:10that during the cabinet meeting,
11:11first Prime Minister,
11:12inquired from,
11:13all the ministers,
11:15about their,
11:16Instagram presence,
11:17and after that,
11:18he requested everyone,
11:19to be more active,
11:20and more interactive,
11:21on Instagram,
11:23why,
11:23because Instagram,
11:25has now become a platform,
11:26which is not only,
11:27consuming,
11:27the,
11:28you know,
11:29wrong facts,
11:29but it can also,
11:31be used for betterment,
11:32it can also be used for,
11:33you know,
11:34sending out the,
11:35correct information,
11:36and the decisions,
11:38and the kind of actions,
11:39which the government,
11:40is taking,
11:41is taking,
11:41so,
11:42what sources are indicating,
11:43that ministers,
11:44have been advised,
11:44to make reels,
11:45to be more interactive,
11:47and tell people,
11:48about the kind of work,
11:49which chair ministries,
11:50has so far done,
11:52we would be very happy,
11:53to see,
11:53what action,
11:54has been taken,
11:54against those,
11:55who are involved,
11:56in this paper leaks,
11:57and also those,
11:58the 47 that you mentioned,
12:01for their,
12:03inaction,
12:03how could paper leaks,
12:05happen,
12:05and repeatedly,
12:06stay with me,
12:07Piyush,

12:15on India today,
12:16Dharmendra Pradhan,
12:17will not resign,
12:18as education minister,
12:19that's the indication,
12:20that the BJP,
12:21is sending out,
12:22sources,
12:22are telling India today,
12:23that the party,
12:24stands firmly,
12:25behind the minister,
12:26and believes,
12:27that a resignation,
12:28would actually be,
12:29an easy option,
12:30they want him to be,
12:32at the helm of affairs,
12:33and address the challenges,
12:35that this examination system,
12:36is facing,
12:37the government's position,
12:39according to sources,
12:39in the government,
12:40is that,
12:41they've received the mandate,
12:43of the people,
12:44to deliver reforms,
12:46and not walk away,
12:47from responsibility,
12:49so the centre is promising,
12:50sweeping reforms,
12:51the cabinet,

20:00The Congress continues to insist that there can be no
20:04meaningful engagement without Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
20:25The question now is whether the opposition is ready to negotiate or whether the deadlock
20:34inside the parliament will continue.
20:36Bureau Report, India Today.
20:42And there's another controversy over Congress MP Imran Masood asking questions about Sonam
20:51Vangchuk suddenly calling off his fast when CJP is still protesting.
20:56Or words to that effect and also the fact that Dharmendra Pradhan has still not resigned.
21:04He has raised certain questions.
21:06We will speak to him.
21:08He joins me on India Today.
21:10Imaran Masood Ji, welcome to India Today.
21:14You have said that Sonam Vangchuk is a personal deal with the government.
21:21Do you think this is the case of Sonam Vangchuk?
21:28No, no, I haven't said it to me personally.
21:31You have done it.
21:33You have done it.
21:34The whole country was request from you.
21:36Don't you do it.
21:38I nuovi Congress, I aye did nothing.
21:44You have done it.
21:46You have done it.
21:48You go ahead, Antsend.icherati市
21:54satsunz Isma Vangchuk. Are you going
21:59to do it? You have done
22:00it. They will find
22:03the代わり. I SRSima
22:03achan's relationship or the division. There are people who
22:05tell you about it. I have no purpose.
22:06We are seasoned them.
22:06I'm going to say that the whole country is going to listen to me.
22:11Okay.
22:12So, the question of the question,
22:15do you think that the government has been talking about?
22:19It's not a part-of-worked.
22:21They're not going to get the support of the government.
22:23But the government has been talking about the government.
22:28Do you think that the government has been talking about the government?
22:31and the people who have been in the same way?
22:36I have no respect for this.
22:37There is no respect for our sake.
22:42We pray for good care.
22:46We have done good things.
22:48But we don't have to pay attention to our government.
22:50We don't have to pay attention to our government.
23:03Congress Party, why do you do not have a question about Congress?
23:11What do you think about Congress?
23:12Like you said, in your opinion,
23:15or in your house,
23:18or in your house,
23:19or in your house,
23:19or in your house,
23:23Congress is different.

24:11But is the Congress doing this work?
24:14Or does the Education Minister of Education,

26:05how should one view this and also how should one view messages from the Delhi University and other universities
26:12where students are being asked to stay away from Jantar Mantar and I want to read out to you
26:19what the Delhi University has said before I bring in our guests that Delhi University has asked students
26:25to stay away from unlawful assemblies this has come in the line of fire there are many who are
26:32criticizing this move saying why is the Delhi University instead of encouraging students to
26:40air their views to rise against grievances to you know give went to their grievances why is it
26:47stifling them so the protests are raging the Delhi University has advised students and the faculty
26:52to stay away from protests at Jantar Mantar I want to read out that statement of the Delhi University which
26:57says
26:58dear students and faculty your safety matters to us please note that any unlawful assemblies or
27:05demonstrations at Jantar Mantar New Delhi which are strictly regulated as per directors of the
27:09Honourable Supreme Court of India may invite legal action such activities can also pose serious risk to
27:17students personal safety and significantly impact their academic progress and professional opportunities
27:24accordingly all students are urged to stay away from Jantar Mantar and prioritize their safety and
27:31compliance with the law furthermore you are advised to exercise caution as a significant amount of fake and
27:39misleading content is being created and circulated to fuel the situation I want to bring into this
27:46conversation Yasho Vardhan Azad former special director intelligence bureau Syed Zafar Islam Dr. Islam is
27:53national spokesperson of the BJP former Rajya Savai MP and Dr. Anshul Abhijit national spokesperson of the
27:59Congress party Syed Zafar Islam why would the Delhi University issue such a directive telling students to stay away from
28:08Jantar Mantar I think it is important for you to understand and I'm sure that everybody understands that it is
28:15not advisable when the Supreme Court order is there when the government of the day has already issued a statement
28:23saying that unlawful meeting of this nature is should be should be avoided and there is a risk of safety
28:33and security of all the
28:35all the youngsters and students or youngsters who are coming to Jantar Mantar it is advisable because
28:42the student community wants engagement with the government government wants engagement with the
28:47student community so we there is a there is a meeting of minds in terms of that we need to
28:52discuss issues which are
28:53important to students and okay and there is a meeting of mind a course correction can be taken
29:00but so why why keep them away uh Anshul Abhijit Dr. Abhijit you've been a student leader you've been a
29:07student
29:07activist uh your reading of the government asked the Delhi University asking students to stay away from
29:13Jantar Mantar Gaur can I just complete this and complete outrage yeah Zafar sahab can complete if he wants to
29:21I have no problem just 10 seconds I mean political parties are in the opposite opposition they would
29:28want use to use them for their protests for use them as as to pursue their own agenda political agenda
29:38but we have to ensure their safety and security we have to understand that we want to resolve all the
29:46issues which they are raising but political parties have no no in such intention they just want to
29:51use them for their political benefit that's why fair enough you've made your point Dr. Abhijit wants to
29:57respond go ahead sir no no look at the irony here the the students are being threatened by pellets I
30:04mean you should have shown the bodies of those sprayed segments that land on people's bodies I mean
30:08you should India today has shown it since yesterday in fact they broke the story that confirmed the fact
30:14that pellet guns were used and he's talking about violence of the students this is a janandolan and as
30:20far as Delhi University goes I mean I was in college there at that particular time we also had over
30:26an
30:26incident chakka jam and other things we used to go on the streets when any of these kind of protests
30:30used to
30:31take place must remember that universities are highly politicized unit and positively so when you have ABVP
30:38when Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan as a member of ABVP protested uh you know in Odisha uh 20 years back
30:46or 40 years back and look at the irony now then he was a part of a protest movement right
30:51then you have
30:52the NSUI you have college elections at least in my college there was an election colleges are highly
30:57politicized as they necessarily should be there's nothing there's no demonization of politics here
31:02okay you are a part of a protest uh Gaurav you know every time you turn 18 you are become
31:08formally
31:09politicized when you decide whom to vote for where to align let me bring in Yashavardhan Azad to respond
31:14to this uh you know you're looking at the situation from both sides the security angle and the citizen
31:19angle at 18 you can vote at 18 why can't you go to Jantar Mantar to protest how would you
31:25read the
31:26DU warning or the DU advisory see if you look at it absolutely in isolation there is nothing wrong
31:33with the order that you know you should keep safety in mind if it's a banned area you should not
31:38go there
31:39but then if you look at the fact that the youth wings of the various parties have been allowed to
31:46in in various university that means they have a political choice and then the other question comes
31:52that isn't a student allowed to think for himself what is happening at Jantar Mantar isn't he allowed
31:58to think whether what the government whether he reaches out or not to those students is the right
32:03thing or not in that respect how can you issue an order like this it is up to that student
32:08who's
32:09allowed to vote allowed to participate in political activities to participate in Jantar Mantar Jantar Mantar
32:15the response of the Syed Zafar Islam you know let students decide what's right for them after all
32:21they are the ones who are adversely impacted by these horrible policies of NTA that have led to
32:27repeated paper leaks sir no we are not restricting them to express themselves they can express when
32:34they representative their representatives are meeting the government officials or government ministers
32:39but what is important that we have seen what happened on 20th of July when the goons the guys of
32:46a
32:47student actually that did so many things which resulted in violence okay and we definitely want to avoid
32:54that what has happened on 20th of July the innocent students many a times are the victim and the political
33:02goons from the some political parties we exactly know who are they they they were the one responsible for
33:07all this violence and innocent students have been the victim so let me bring in to respond to that
33:13because that's a pertinent point you raise for political party it is their political agenda that's
33:19at stake for students it's their future at stake and for students is it is it worth the risk uh
33:28going to
33:28going to these places uh the prime minister said strongest possible action is being taken uh is being
33:34contemplated new laws are being brought in efforts are being made to find common ground but political
33:40parties want to keep the pot boiling is the bjp's allegation dr virgin you know a point of what the
33:46prime minister said the prime minister has been silent rather than talking to the youth he's been silent on
33:52the issue ever since the neat exam broke and for the past four days just before he came to the
33:56parliament
33:56and said there should be consensus and in the at the stroke of the midnight hour then he comes up
34:01with
34:01this message we don't know this is not demonstrable action some bureaucrats have been shifted here and
34:06there we don't know what's going to happen we don't know the contours of the new uh new bill that
34:11is coming these are empty hollow words at the moment and what happened after the prime minister's
34:16address look at the amount of trust deficit gaurav um after that the stir has only intensified
34:23throughout calcutta so uh you know so so much so for the assurances of the prime minister and what
34:29he's going to do that is not going to happen and as far as the congress party is concerned the
34:36congress
34:36party has started a movement much before it is always there there are many movements that are
34:41going on there are many organic movements that are going on there is no there's nothing like creating a
34:47vice or a mistrust between them the point of these movements is to rectify a broken education system
34:54i'll just give you one last example and why this government is particularly comfortable uh culpable
35:00rather you know in the budget budgetary allocations the amount allocated to education has precipitously
35:08plummeted to 2.5 percent earlier during upa 2014 it was 4.5 percent so this is the amount of
35:17wages they're given to education no wonder it's broken private institutions are coming up uh government
35:22schools are lying in jar jar you know the walls peeling off there's no attendance no teachers no
35:27salaries that's dr zafar islam quickly respond before i bring in yashu ardhan azad on the road
35:33ahead quickly respond to the point that is being made that all of this perhaps is too little and too
35:38late as the congress puts it not at all see they want to pursue a movement yes you are welcome
35:43to do
35:43that nobody is restricting you you are allowed to do under the constitution you can pursue that but
35:49don't use the shoulder of the ordinary students innocent students that is what we are trying to
35:56tell you that you use you pursue your movement if they if there are people are receptive then well and
36:02good for you but people are not receptive to your ideas of india that is why you are the you
36:07are using a
36:08young and a student's shoulder to pursue pursue your own agenda that will not but that we will not let
36:14it happen it's a it's a stand which will backfire on you having said that if they want to they
36:19want
36:20to understand what is going to happen in this bill i we the suggestion we have made time and again
36:25that please discuss please have a debate on the floor of the parliament that is the place where we need
36:30to discuss understand and if you have any suggestion to be to make please make those suggestions to make
36:36in the future now as a citizen of this country as somebody who's seeing students on the streets
36:45as somebody who's seen repeated paper leaks and it's not just one neat ug paper leak in 2024 a series
36:52that have of paper leaks that have taken place across states across years your reading of the prime
36:59minister's midnight message of the steps that the cabinet has discussed and a new bill that's being
37:05tabled in parliament on monday too little and too late you know i'm surprised uh uh that there are
37:13literally low hanging fruits for the government to just pluck at sacking an incompetent minister is is
37:21is you know it's very simple even through a cabinet reshuffle you can hide it giving 22 crores to those
37:28people who died is something which is humanity it is legitimate and number three you know taking
37:36away all those cases from those students who were beaten up i'm talking about the innocent ones easily
37:42can be done unfortunately you know what has happened is that the whole debate from the education reforms
37:49and the mafia has shifted to police brutality it is ideal for the government it is ideal for the opposition
37:56to keep criticizing the real issue is the education reform what are we going to do about it transfer
38:03of bureaucrats does not make a difference in fact the education sector needs to go back to the
38:11academicians the need head should be picked up by an open selection process an academician who should be
38:18given on contract these are the issues which the prime minister should talk about and no harm in coming
38:25on monkey bath and talking to the students yes we were wrong and we will settle it for you people
38:31will okay dr zafar you want to quickly respond to this point too little and too late is is both
38:38the point
38:38of view of the congress party and our expert i mean they they are entitled to have their views and
38:44opinion
38:44but let me tell you that we are from day one we are very keen to engage these students and
38:52we are
38:52engaging the students we are trying to understand what are their concerns and we will adequately address it having said
38:58that what
38:58yeshudra jis said yeshudra jis said that of course we need to improve the system we need to ensure that
39:05there is
39:05a foolproof system and there is there is absolutely no paper leak but yes between 2017 and 26 no every
39:14representative of political parties in the parliament it is their responsibility also to debate contribute and
39:24make it a robust system we are open to discuss we are open to have a suggestion from every corner
39:30including the representative of the uh of the political parties
39:37the question
39:40the futures of these uh
39:45why is the nation is more important they are making the nation as a priority not the not the
39:51improvement in the education system as a priority i mean that is what our contention fair enough
39:56dr avijit you must respond to this because repeatedly there were paper leaks in bihar in utarakhand
40:03in rajasthan in other parts of our country and there's a long list of paper leaks over decades it hasn't
40:09happened uh just in 2024 or 2026 why is it that resignation of dharmendra pradhan uh becomes the core issue
40:17and not reforms in the system that every lawmaker must put in his head together in parliament
40:25excellent point uh gaurav but just tell me at this point in time you turn back the pages of history
40:32please do this is not an academic argument this is not a college essay at the moment mr dharmendra pradhan
40:38has overseen a multiple number of uh paper leaks you know he's been at the helm of affairs there's
40:44refused to be any changes he's the man who's culpable he's implicated in the current scenario
40:50you want to turn back the pages i admit their paper leaks have gone on for a long time what
40:54do you
40:54want to do right now about that how do you want to go back into the past right now what
40:59we have to
40:59confront and we have to comfort and pacify the students that we are doing the right thing we have
41:05to do act now there is zero credibility there is a massive trust deficit between the students and
41:10i talk about the students i'm not talking about the congress party because dr sayyad zafar islam give
41:15me a moment mr yashur dan azad wants to come in sir paper leaks are a bane of our system
41:21and while
41:23everyone's very outraged about the current paper leak in neat ug you've had rajasthan administrative
41:28service i mean ras exams being leaked uh all india pre-medical test aims exams being leaked whether it's a
41:35congress government in rajasthan then or a bjp government now you may you know say okay dharmendra
41:42pradhan should resign but look at the mafia that operates so our police fails our education system
41:48fails how do you ensure an a leak proof system i totally agree got up with dr alam's point
41:55that this leak has to be discussed and the reforms have to be put in place in rajasthan they put
42:02an act
42:03also it didn't make any kind of a difference and that's exactly what i'm saying is that reforming
42:08the education sector is going to be a huge issue for which the prime minister needs the support of
42:15all chief ministers and even opposition leaders the education mafia in the states whether is the
42:22transfer industry whether it is the whether is the transfer of the teachers whether it is the cabal of
42:28the coaching institutes and whether it's actually the politicians who are running the various
42:33institutions for this you have to have a combined attack on the entire mafia and for that we need to
42:41but one more point in the end the cjp protest will go on gaurav because this has outflanked all the
42:50opposition parties their protests because this is a youth movement and it's better that the that the
42:56government attacks the issue straight away discusses in the parliament and brings about no but when
43:03you look at the current political environment and since you're a former police officer you've handled
43:08intelligence agencies police and as a citizen of this country the current political approach is it
43:14a solutions oriented approach or is it political point scoring every mp should come forward and find
43:21a solution to this you don't see that happening gaurav but the point is you know the opposition
43:27has a right to protest you can't say yes but the opposition and the government have a bigger right
43:32towards the people there have been paper leaks in bengal for example and you know there's so it's
43:38happened in opposition rule states it's happened in the ruling party rule states my only point is
43:43why not come together and find a solution instead of political point scoring so that and ultimately you
43:49for all you know they'll they'll decide everything it's the students who may have a have a bleak future
43:54if there's not a concrete solution mr is then why not pick up these low-hanging fruits the government
44:01should reach out to the opposition throw out this incompetent minister give 20 crores to the people
44:06and announce the closure of the cases immediately your discussions will start and the opposition should
44:11also reach out there anshul avijit and sayyad zafar islam the last 30 seconds that i have on this
44:16part of the show i want to understand can there be a constructive india first approach
44:22anshul go first sir no the reason why we want the resignation of the incumbent education minister
44:30as a prerequisite is because it sends a message that you're serious about reform otherwise everything
44:36is a cover-up it's an eye wash like the cbi report nothing matters and the stir is only going
44:41to continue until you have that it's not a congress demand everyone is demanding it now there's an
44:46absolute chorus so who are you going to listen to you know that is what you have to see there
44:51is a
44:51huge problem of credibility and until the this uh the education minister goes no he may be competent
44:57in other ways in fixing booth lists and organizing managing elections i have no problem but put him
45:02there i i'm not saying that but as a minister of education he's proved his incompetence he must go
45:09okay sayyad zafar islam why is the bjp not taking the opposition cjp and all the protesters their demand
45:18you know if the minister needs to be sacked you know a cabinet reshuffle as yashavardhan azad suggested
45:23do that move forward for a solution uh regard you had anshul and you had many of the opposition
45:31leaders including rahul randhi they're only suggesting the youth of this country the students
45:37go protest not look for solutions i mean this is crazy you if you are thinking about their future
45:45then you must suggest that we are discussing on the floor of the parliament if you want any specific
45:50concern you have please share with us we will ensure that it is it gets addressed during the
45:55debate and a law will be made to ensure that your you are your interest is completely safeguarded but
46:01no such discussion is coming from there no suggestion is coming from enough they only want
46:08to dwell in the fire and they want this protesters to continue their protest and that is why
46:12the american they are saying this will continue this will continue okay we want to i want to make a
46:17point
46:17tomorrow you will see this this star this the protest will end for sure we are very confident
46:24based on the conversation the way we are engaging with the cdp and the representatives and the youth
46:29wing of this we'll be tracking that story very closely sir and these people these people will
46:36these people will be completely exposed because we'll be tracking that story very very closely we just
46:41want we just want every political leader to not put politics first but put india first a solutions
46:49oriented approach to ensure that we have an exam paper leak proof system a transparent system that can be trusted
47:01breaking news coming in the chief justice of india has reacted on the kokrut janata party protest and
47:08controversy around it the chief justice of india has told india today he was misquoted by a section of the
47:16media he insists the supreme court is open to all remember he was quoted saying he does not have time
47:23to see
47:24those videos or words to that effect the chief justice of india in an exclusive interview to india today has
47:29said
47:30that is not true the supreme court is open 24 7 for all petitioners the supreme court has never refused
47:38to hear
47:39any issue however he did say that there are petitions that are mentioned which are being heard on monday
47:47but then he said if you send a letter and say you must hear me that cannot happen there is
47:53a system that needs to be
47:54followed there is a procedure that needs to be followed or words to that effect um on the question
48:01that my colleague anisha mathur uh put to him that cjp or cockroach janata party was created due to a
48:08comment that was attributed to him he said no comments on that listen in to my colleague anisha mathur in
48:17conversation with chief justice of india sureka we're speaking to the chief justice of india sir
48:24there is a lot being said about the protests right now about how the courts are responding to the protests
48:30and how and the remarks made in the courts no the courts will respond only to the court cases which
48:36are
48:37filed before us the nature of the case can be anything it may be pertaining to your protest also
48:42and as i have been saying and i still repeated that the supreme court is open 24 by 7 for
48:48every
48:49consumer of justice and whosoever has any grievance they are most welcome but they need to come within
48:54the with a prescribed format and the manner in which the petitions are filed in supreme court so my request
49:00will be that people should not expect that every letter address here should be entertained as a petition that
49:05will become a very unmanageable affair but the the lawyers particularly who are well conversant with the
49:12law of pleadings and the manner in the petitions are filed in supreme court they are at least expected
49:18to file a proper petition in supreme court and we'll never say no to any such case as and when
49:23filed
49:23today itself in fact two petitions i believe those have been filed a mention was made in the court with
49:29their diary number and i have welcomed them i have listened to them already sir one in and other issue
49:34has
49:34been with regard to the comments that have been made a lot is being said about uh some uh you
49:40being misquoted
49:40that there's a lot being said yes i said in the morning i said very firmly in the court
49:45that i have been misquoted they unfortunately the correct reporting is not being made somebody start
49:52making mention of listing of a matter which he has never filed so what to do with that kind of
49:57case
49:57so i had to tell them that please don't waste your time and my time because you don't file the
50:01case
50:02what i'm going to hear i can hear only when you file a petition therefore i had to advise the
50:07council the young lawyers they should learn it they should understand the seriousness of the court
50:11processing these are very solemn postings in nature and they should respect the procedure
50:17that has been laid down under the rules so this is how i commented and that i i believe there
50:23was
50:23nothing wrong in that the question is only that when you file the petition do the supreme court
50:28registry respond to that or not and do i act promptly or not that i have assured everyone the first
50:35time it
50:35is happening in supreme court that when you file a case within two days after curing the defects the
50:40matter is automatically listed you are not even required to make a mention to me you have a right
50:44to get your matter listed before the supreme court but if there is an extreme emergency i do entertain
50:49those requests and like today only where the mentioning was made and i have listed the matters
50:54sir one more thing was that the kokto jantha party itself has gotten its name from one comment that
50:59you had made no comments on that any message that you would want to send to the students and the
51:05young people who are out on the street still protesting about what is happening well i think i
51:11will speak about this on judicial side thank you very much lordship so this was the chief justice of
51:16india saying that very clearly that any petitions that are filed properly before the court will be
51:21entertained and that he should not be misquoted and nor should anybody expect the court to take up a
51:27matter without a petition being filed in new delhi this is anisha mathur for india today
51:33that's a very important clarification that comes in from the chief justice of india uh chief justice
51:38surekan where he says all he said was that a petition has to be filed in a proper manner before
51:45a case
51:45is mentioned don't waste your time or mine and that he was misquoted half-truths
51:51is a very very dangerous in society that's a story we'll be tracking very closely
