00:05:24if there wasn't a concrete assurance given to him, his fast will continue. In fact,
00:05:30in about 25 minutes from now, at 8.30, Union Health Minister J.P. Nada, he will be addressing
00:05:38a press conference. Various points that were raised by leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul
00:05:43Gandhi in his press conference earlier this afternoon, around 4.30 this afternoon. Rahul
00:05:48Gandhi raised certain points, three specific demands, and I'll tell you in detail about those
00:05:53specific demands. Perhaps we'll hear the Union Health Minister respond to the points raised by
00:06:00Rahul Gandhi, because he doubled down on the Congress's attack against the Narendra Modi government.
00:06:06At this press conference, Rahul Gandhi put forward three demands to the centre. Demand number one,
00:06:12Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must step down. In fact, this has been raised
00:06:18both by leader of opposition in Lok Sabha and leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha. They said they
00:06:23can be a debate once there is an assurance that Dharmendra Pradhan will step down. Demand number
00:06:28two, action should be taken against those who targeted students and protesters, which means action
00:06:34must be taken against police personnel. Demand number three, an apology, an apology for not acknowledging

00:07:34Cockroach Janata Party's thunder to take away the credit because it's the CGP that's been carrying
00:07:39out the protests and fight against the government. The Congress is now being accused of jumping into
00:07:45this at the 11th hour and then trying to steal that thunder. Today, the Samajwadi party chief,
00:07:50Akhilesh Yadav, otherwise very close to the Congress party, Akhilesh Yadav lashed out in parliament asking if
00:07:56there was some kind of a deal between the BJP and the Congress that Samajwadi party was not being
00:08:02given an opportunity to speak. The government, however, hit back blaming the opposition for the
00:08:08current situation. The center says despite repeated offers for a full-fledged discussion on the paper
00:08:15leak on related issues in parliament, Congress and Rahul Gandhi, they continue to shift the goalposts.
00:08:21The government claims the Congress initially agreed to a discussion, but later shifted the goalposts,
00:08:27insisting first, Dharmendra Pradhan as education minister must resign. So we'll get you that story.

00:10:25discussion on the neat paper leak issue in parliament.
00:10:39The center is accusing the Congress and Rahul Gandhi of speaking in two voices. Agreeing to a discussion
00:10:54initially, only to later shift the focus to demands for resignation.

00:18:19has come from Rahul Gandhiji or from the Congress party.
00:18:23Let me make it very clear.
00:18:25Today, thousands and lakhs of youngsters have come out on the streets with the very same demand.
00:18:31This is how this protest actually started.
00:18:34And I think it's a very justified demand.
00:18:36A person, an education minister who's not only incompetent, but who's also very insensitive, he has failed to apologize for
00:18:46the death of 25 children who lost their lives due to the leak in the NEET exam.
00:18:51I think that person does not deserve to stay in his position.
00:18:55The people of India, the youth of India, the students of India have lost trust on the education minister.
00:19:02I mean, there is no question he must go.
00:19:04So, this is not a demand of the Congress party.
00:19:06This is a demand of the students of India.

00:22:52Several rounds of discussions have been proposed.
00:22:54There are back-channel discussions also happening.
00:22:56And I believe Sonam Vangchuk has himself released a letter where he has said that the government should consider the
00:23:02resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
00:23:05So this softening of the tone, if it happens from the student protesters' side and also from the government side,
00:23:10so that greater accountability is fixed, I believe that's how the culmination should happen.
00:23:15But the real problem are these political vultures who are smelling political meat here.
00:23:21This is the real problem.
00:23:22They have shifted the goalposts consistently since Monday when the parliament started.
00:23:27The question hour itself, both Rahul Gandhi and Akhile Shadalji, they got opportunity in the zero hour itself to ask
00:23:34the question and hold the government accountable.
00:23:36They also proposed that the discussion should happen there.
00:23:39But on Monday and later on Tuesday, they realized that this is fast snowballing and let's just milk maximum political
00:23:46capital out of it.
00:23:48So they are now gradually shifting the goalposts saying that we won't even join the parliament discussion till Dharmendra Pradhan
00:23:53does not resign.
00:23:54I mean, how can these people become the principal arbiter on what should be the middle ground between the students
00:23:59and the government?

00:24:01So that's a very strong, strong, strong words you've used that these are political vultures who've smelt blood or words

00:24:17Because both Treasury benches and opposition, it appears, are more interested in point scoring rather than discussing this very burning
00:24:25issue of need, paper leak and that mafia, that paper leak mafia in our country.

00:27:58that all their demands have to be looked in in the due course.
00:28:02But as far as any action against the students are concerned,
00:28:06that should not happen because what was carried out on 20th
00:28:11was largely a peaceful protest.
00:28:12So I see this as clearly an indication that at 8.30 when J.P. Nadda,
00:28:18who was the minister who engaged him,
00:28:20and the letter that was written by Sonam Vangchuk was addressed to Mr. Nadda
00:28:24and to union minister Jitendra Singh,
00:28:27saying that his demands are very clear and in public domain,
00:28:30no mention whatsoever of the resignation demand of Dharmendra Pradhan.
00:28:35So clear indication that Sonam Vangchuk's fast could end perhaps in the next couple of hours.
