00:05Good evening viewers, the latest news break that is coming in in a slew of measures that the government has
00:11taken in the last 24 hours.
00:13The latest is a major announcement regarding a complete overhaul of the NTA.
00:18The National Testing Agency is going to be announced at 8 p.m.
00:22Big, massive reforms on the agenda.
00:24What we are expecting, this announcement would be made by none else but the Ministry of Education.
00:31This announcement would be made at about 8 p.m., which will entail and detail major reforms in the National
00:38Testing Agency.
00:40A full revamp is on the annual and what has already happened is massive changes where bureaucracy is concerned from
00:48the Education Secretary onwards.
00:50We are beginning to hear that lots of postings and replacement postings have taken place already.
00:59All of this after the Cabinet met this afternoon.
01:02There was a Cabinet briefing.
01:04There is an act also, which the government is hoping to table on Monday in Parliament,
01:10which is about sweeping changes where India's education system is concerned.
01:16I am joined right now by my colleague, Piyush, who has been tracking the Education Ministry very closely.
01:22Piyush, can you quickly get us up to speed on what are you picking up?
01:26Massive reforms on the annual for the National Testing Agency.
01:31Pity, NTA has been in the eye of a storm over the course of the last few months where paper
01:38leak after paper leak and then mishandling of various other exams.
01:42What's the latest?
01:44Well, Pity, you would remember that a few days back there was a meeting of government representatives with Sonam Bangsukh.
01:52In that meeting, sources are telling us that the government had assured that it is working towards bringing reforms in
02:00the education system.
02:01Now, sources are indicating that a discussion took place in today's Cabinet.
02:06After that, sources have indicated that the government has listed out the problems in NTA and all these problems will
02:13be resolved soon,
02:14sources have indicated us after the Cabinet meeting.
02:18Now, what we are now hearing from Education Ministry sources is that at 8 p.m., complete overhaul of NTA
02:26is going to be there,
02:28which means that some responsibilities will be fixed, accountability will be fixed,
02:33and some officials might also face the ire of what has happened in the last few days in paper leak.
02:41So, government now is looking forward to not only bring up reforms...
02:45You speak about some officials are going to come, possibly be removed.
02:50What are you picking up on that?
02:52Who is going to be making this announcement where this overhaul of the NTA will be announced with sweeping changes
02:59at 8 p.m.?
03:00Because, you know, why I ask you this question is, Piyush, because in the backdrop is that 24-hour window
03:07that the government has given the Kokoro Jamta Party,
03:10that they want to mull on, on the question of removing the Education Minister.
03:18Well, as far as removing the Education Minister is concerned, Preeti sources are telling us that he is not going
03:24to resign.
03:24Government is standing firm with him.
03:26Government sources have indicated that if a minister resigns, it means that he is running away from his responsibility.
03:34And resignation of a minister is the most easy task.
03:37That's what the government sources have indicated to us.
03:41But as far as bringing reforms in the education system is concerned, sources are indicating, Preeti, that the government is
03:48going to start this by bringing complete overhaul in NTA.
03:52And that is going to be announced at 8 p.m.
03:54Yes, we yesterday saw how the Education Secretary was changed.
04:00He was changed because the government now wants to fix accountability.
04:05The government wants to tell protesting instruments that, yes, we are not only very serious about your demands,
04:11but we are also bringing reforms in the government system.
04:14As far as resignation of Dharmesh Bhatani is concerned, sources are telling us that it is unlikely to happen.
04:20Piyush, will you stay with me? I want to quickly cut across to the next bit of news break that's
04:25coming in, viewers.
04:27Announcement expected any moment of a massive overhaul within the Education Ministry.
04:32What does that really mean?
04:3547 officials to be retrenched.
04:38Will the Education Minister feature as one of the replacements?
04:44But this is big news that is coming in from the Education Ministry.
04:47Any time now, we are going to get word of a massive overhaul where the Education Ministry in itself is
04:53concerned.
04:54We have been given a number by our sources.
04:5747 babus, bureaucrats, those who run the Education Ministry will now be retrenched.
05:03So, you're seeing changes at multiple levels.
05:06The government going all the way, but till now stopping short of that one demand
05:11of the Cockroach Janata Party and the protesters, which is the resignation of the Education Minister.
05:18I want to cut across back to my colleague Piyush, who is going to be joining us in just a
05:23short while.
05:24But this is big news, viewers.
05:258pm, the Education Ministry, you know, put it all together.
05:298pm, the Education Ministry is to announce overhaul of the National Testing Agency.
05:35Having said that, the news that has come in right now is that sweeping changes are going to be made
05:42and an announcement on that will happen any time now.
05:45And these changes will be made in the Education Ministry itself.
05:4947 employees, they could be bureaucrats, we're trying to get in more information of that,
05:55who work in the Education Ministry connected to the Education Ministry will be retrenched.
06:01When I say retrenched, you can look at it, very plain, simple words, as being removed.
06:08Already, the Education Secretary has been removed and replaced.
06:14There is a new Education Secretary and now 47 other replacements will happen.
06:21We are expecting an announcement on that.
06:23Then shortly after, we are expecting an announcement on the changes that are going to be made in the National
06:30Testing Agency.
06:31So at that level, viewers, the government in the last 24 hours is doing what it takes to at least
06:39communicate
06:40to the youth of this country that it's doing everything to make those changes.
06:45But everything till now short of asking for the Education Minister to resign.
06:50You know, what I'm going to do is, while we are going to be tracking the developments on this front,
06:55I'm going to cut across a report that I filed this afternoon from Jantar Mantar,
07:01which has now become the epicentre of this protest,
07:04which is being led by none else but the Kokoro Janta Party
07:08and the leader of the Kokoro Janta Party, Abhijit Dipke.
07:15So, we've come to Jantar Mantar right after the talks have happened between the CJP leaders
07:23as well as the government.
07:25The government has now asked for 24 hours to think over the demand of the CJP,
07:30which has been a non-negotiable demand of the resignation or the sacking of the Education Minister,
07:38Mr. Dharmendra Pradhaar, and there is no letting up of where the crowds are concerned.
07:43You have to actually make a full line and you have to stand and wait your turn.
07:47These are volunteers of the CJP who are trying to manage the crowds in a manner
07:55so that it happens in a streamlined manner.
08:01So, we are going to stand, Pavan and I are going to stand in this line,
08:04wait for our turns, for the volunteers here to make way for us
08:07so we can actually go on the other side of the divide and continue getting you the latest.
08:12There will be a stampede.
08:13What do I do?
08:14Just tell to go over.
08:15How? Who? Who?
08:16How do you?
08:18That's what. See, I told you.
08:21I told you.
08:26Ma'am, I'm also going.
08:28I am also going.
08:33Can we please get in?
08:35You are going to create a stampede.
08:36Do one by...
08:40What is this?
08:42All journalists, wait 15 minutes.
08:46Sir, what do we have to do with you?
08:47Amarjit Chaudhary.
08:49How are you talking about this?
08:51How are you talking about this?
08:51I'm here from 26 days.
08:5326 days.
08:54Where are you?
08:55Bihar.
08:55Bihar.
08:56Bihar.
08:57Why are you coming?
08:59We are coming.
09:01We are coming.
09:02MBA for 20,000 dollars.
09:04What are you talking about?
09:05I'm going to do it right now.
09:06I have MBA from Punjab Technical University.
09:08I have MBA from Punjab to Punjab to Punjab.
09:09Pass out.
09:10I have now.
09:1120,000 dollars.
09:1320,000 dollars.
09:1420,000 dollars.
09:1520,000 dollars.
09:1620,000 dollars.
09:22So, shortly after the meeting of the CJP and the government, I have with me Abhijeet Dipke,
09:27who has practically become the face of the campaign of the CJP at Jantar Bantar.
09:31Abhijeet, how are you feeling?
09:32You were not well.
09:33Yeah, I'm feeling pretty good. I have taken some 4-5 avids last night, so that has really boosted up
09:37my energy.
09:38So, yeah, I'm feeling better now.
09:39Because the humidity was a lot, it was getting worse.
09:42Yes.
09:43Is it better now?
09:44Yeah, now there is a little fever and weakness, but it's much, much better than what I was feeling last
09:48night.
09:49Coming to the issue at hand, Abiji, the meeting that happened today, you think it's fruitful before?
09:55Because the government has not said a hard no to your request of the sacking of the education minister.
10:03They are okay to ask for more time.
10:06Yes, I think the meeting today was really positive.
10:08They have mostly agreed to two other demands of us.
10:13One was about the compensation to the victim's family, and the other was about not filing any cases against the
10:19protesters for 20 July, or even target them later on.
10:23And also on the resignation of the education minister, they have called us back again.
10:27I think the government somewhere has realized that this protest is not limited to Jantar Mantar or just to the
10:33CJP.
10:33This protest has gone nationwide, and many of the lacks of youth of the country are coming out on the
10:39streets.
10:40And I believe that it's in the best interest of this government to listen to these voices.
10:44Because if you don't listen on Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, then the youth of this country will demand the resignation of
10:49the Prime Minister of India.
10:50So somewhere, the government needs to understand this.
10:53The question is, the government has announced a slew of measures.
10:57The Prime Minister gave out their own selfie video, which he's never quite done, talking directly to the youth that
11:03is sitting right behind you.
11:05You know the measures that the government has taken.
11:08Fast-track calls, they've removed the education secretary.
11:11They're now going to get an act which will look at the education system.
11:16The government's saying, we understand the problem, we are trying to clean it up, but will you continue to make?
11:22A lot of people are saying, the sacking of the defence minister as a token or just symbolism.
11:28We are ready to clean the system, they are saying.
11:30I want to ask you, how many fast-track courts were set up to give justice to the rape victims?
11:36And what has come out of that?
11:38Fast-track courts is just a gimmick.
11:41If you really need to send a strong message, then sack the education minister.
11:44And send a message that no such thing will ever be tolerated in this government.
11:50No paper leak will ever be tolerated.
11:51And even if one single student commits suicide, the education minister will be sacked.
11:57That is how you set accountability.
11:59Fast-track courts are just a gimmick.
12:01Fast-track courts were set up for many of the rape victims.
12:03But did they provide justice to the rape victims?
12:06They did not.
12:07It's not an ego battle.
12:09We've asked for the education minister, so now we're not going to be able to get rid of it.
12:12It's not an ego battle.
12:12It's not an ego battle.
12:14I mean, how could it be an ego battle when more than 20 students have committed suicide?
12:18For that, we are seeking justice.
12:20It's not an ego battle.
12:21It's a battle for justice.
12:23The government is saying, we are doing, we are talking to the people, we are doing all
12:26of these measures they've announced.
12:27You don't believe in any of them?
12:28The parents of the victims are coming here and telling me that Dharaminder Pradhan is
12:33responsible for my child's death.
12:35So how could I settle for anything less than that?
12:39So you will sit here till the time Mr. Pradhan tenders in his resignation or his sack?
12:45There are no two ways about it.
12:46There are only two ways.
12:47Either he resigns or they will have to arrest me, for which I am prepared.
12:52But positive meeting for now?
12:53Yeah, positive meeting for now.
12:55And we hope that the government understands what the youth of this country is trying to
12:59tell them.
12:59I hope they understand.
13:01How did you think that the government heard you?
13:03Because there has been crackdown in terms of internet, even connectivity is difficult.
13:09How did the voice of Jantar Mantar actually reach the Prime Minister's doorstep?
13:12I think because of the nationwide protest, the Prime Minister or the government has to finally
13:16take a note of the protest.
13:18And as I said earlier, no matter how much you try to curb down a movement, it will only
13:23go bigger and bigger.
13:26So, Sonam Bangchuk, who ignited this protest, ended his fast late night.
13:31You are happy that he has ended his fast?
13:33I am very relieved and I am very happy because after 12-13 days, I started requesting him
13:39to end his hunger strike.
13:40And I assured him that you end your hunger strike, we will continue the protest and will ensure
13:44that we will get the resignation of the Education Minister.
13:47And hence, I was really relieved and happy when I got to know that he ended his hunger
13:51strike.
13:52And I was like, this is what exactly we wanted.
13:55We didn't want him to lose his life because his life is far too precious for this country.
13:58But Mr. Dipki, are you disappointed that his main demand he didn't adhere to, which
14:04was the sacking of the Education Minister?
14:05No, I am not disappointed.
14:06I am relieved and I am glad and we will ensure that.
14:09We won't let his hunger strike go waste.
14:11We will fight the battle.
14:12Why do you say he was taken hostage by the government?
14:15Because J.P.
14:16Nader is allowed to meet him.
14:17None of our team members were allowed to meet him.
14:19Since how many days did you not meet him?
14:21Since he was picked up?
14:22Nobody.
14:22Since he was picked up.
14:23I tried to call him, I was not able to speak to him.
14:25I sent my spokesperson there, they were not allowed to meet him.
14:28The member of parliament from opposition parties were not allowed to meet him.
14:32You spoke to his wife?
14:33Yeah, I did speak to her and I was asking her whether can I come and meet him.
14:37And she said, no, they won't allow you.
14:38They are not allowing anybody to meet him.
14:40Was it disappointing to see him have juice from J.P. Naderji's hand?
14:44I won't say that.
14:44I was just very relieved that he has ended his hand.
14:46His life matters more than anything.
14:48Any message that came from him to you, from his wife?
14:52No, I did not get to speak to him, but Gitanjali ma'am did speak to me and she told
14:55me
14:56that Sonam sir is really proud of you and how you are carrying forward this protest.
14:59That's what she said.
15:00And would you want him to come now once he's better and join you?
15:05Of course, of course.
15:05Once he's better, I would love him to come here.
15:08Love to be here.
15:08Do you have faith in this government that they'll listen to you?
15:11I won't say that I have faith, but I hope they'll listen to us.
15:14What do you have to say?
15:15Did you know you'd be able to gather the kind of strength that you have in Namda?
15:19Not at all, not at all.
15:20I mean, I spoke to Sonal, I think, from India today, before coming to India.
15:25And I think I have told her that I don't think people will come out in support.
15:29I am not coming with an expectation that thousands of people will be coming out in support.
15:33But I am coming back because I was called a national security threat by my own country,
15:37by my own government.
15:39And that's why I had to come back.
15:40Because how can you call me a national security threat when I'm going abroad on an Indian visa
15:44as an Indian student?
15:46And my own country and my own government called me a national security threat.
15:49You didn't expect that?
15:50That really hurt me.
15:52And that's why I decided to come back.
15:53Does it hurt you when you're called an Aam Admi Party stooge?
15:56No, that does not hurt me because I worked with the Aam Admi Party in my past.
16:02That is a fact.
16:03But whether I am a stooge, more than the Aam Admi Party, it's the Shiv Sena,
16:06which is in regular touch of me.
16:08More than the Aam Admi Party, it's the MPs of Samajwadi Party who are coming here.
16:13Why isn't the Congress coming?
16:15No, Manish Shankar Iyer did came.
16:18Manish Shankar Iyer came, Shashi Tharoor came.
16:20Shashi Tharoor came and even Pawan Khedhaji came.
16:22So even they are coming.
16:24Do you have a message for Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi
16:27who are carrying on a parallel fight next to you, asking for the same demand?
16:31See, I would never claim that only what we are doing is the right way to do.
16:37I can't be that entitled because I'm just a kid who is trying to do something
16:42with the opportunity that I have got.
16:44So I believe that whoever is fighting this battle,
16:48whether it's been their own way or whether they do have to come here,
16:52it's all fine with me.
16:53Fighting is more important.
16:55Doesn't matter where you fight, how you fight.
16:58I'll ask you my final question.
16:59Do you have faith in the Prime Minister?
17:01He sent out a direct message because the kind of commentary that's come from this stage
17:06and you're smiling.
17:08He's trying to connect to the people.
17:10He's speaking to them.
17:11Do you have faith?
17:13Who have faith in the Prime Minister in India currently?
17:16Nobody.
17:17But I think he can correct that.
17:19If you want to gain the trust of the public,
17:22otherwise nobody believes you.
17:25I'm sorry because I have to ask you because the language of the kids here,
17:29the Gen Z, is so difficult to understand where the government comes into question.
17:34Don't you think it's so beautiful and it's...
17:36I agree.
17:36...and so refreshing?
17:38Where the police is doing heinous brutality against the kids,
17:42and what are the kids doing in return?
17:45They're making memes, coming here with memes and mocking the system, mocking the government.
17:48I think this is the best way to deal with this government.
17:51What about the news of certain elements from your protest,
17:55pelting stones, attacking the police?
17:58I feel bad for the police because it's the police who is...
18:00It's the police who is bringing in trucks filled with stones.
18:05It's the police who are arranging those trucks which are filled with stones.
18:08So you're saying not one of your person who has come for you here is resorting to violence?
18:14Not even one person.
18:15Who are these people?
18:16They are being sent by the BJP.
18:18The police is bringing in trucks filled with stones and not just the trucks.
18:23They are already bringing...
18:24They are bringing in damaged vehicles here.
18:27They are parking near Jantramantar.
18:29And they are claiming that it's the BJP supporters have damaged this car.
18:32I can show you the videos.
18:33I have even posted those videos on 19th of July,
18:37where a damaged car, van, was already parked here.
18:41So I think the Delhi police should get the Oscar for best clipwriting.
18:46Who's call of support surprised you the most?
18:49Nobody's.
18:50Nobody's?
18:51I'm really glad and I'm really grateful for all the support that we have got.
18:56You know, I really hope and I've learnt it from the kids here that the government shows a bit of
19:00heart.
19:02Show that you've got a heart.
19:04Mr. Modi, please show that you have a heart.
19:08I appreciate it.
19:09Sir, your name is your name?
19:10My name is Akbar.
19:12You were here on the 20th of July.
19:16Yes, yes.
19:17What happened to you with us?
19:46You are here on the 20th of July.
19:47so we have armed civilians, so they don't have any help here.
19:50Why are you here to sit here?
19:53We are all so that our people have worked hard for us.
19:58We don't have to sit in our house so we have to work hard for us.
20:03What we have sacrificed?
20:05Yes, we are all so sorry.
20:06Did your hands feel like you?
20:07Yes, yes.
20:09Did you feel like me?
20:10Yes, yes.
20:11Our people need to be aware of the peace and peace.
20:15This is why you are here to sit here?
20:16foreign
20:46And if we don't know our children, we don't know how to read or read.
20:51How old are your children now?
20:54My son is a graduate, I'm studying in the future, and my son is in the second year.
21:00Because I love them, I love them.
21:02That's why I'm here, for our children's future.
21:06And if it doesn't happen, it's the case of my country.
21:11It's the case of our country, so we support them.
21:15Why did you come here so far?
21:18I've also been here for 20 years.
21:20I ate a lot of food for that day, and after that, I came here for three days.
21:23Because I didn't have a condition.
21:25So now I came here.
21:26And I want to give Dharaminder Pradhan to give it quickly.
21:29Dharaminder Pradhan said that they will be going to passcode.
21:33But we don't need to passcode.
21:34We only need to passcode.
21:37Just passcode?
21:38Yes.
21:39Sonam Vangchuknikal passed away.
21:42Yes.
21:42They were the demand that if there was no action, they will passcode.
21:50Is that a lot or should we be able to passcode?
21:52We should be able to passcode.
21:53But we have to ask Sonam Vangchuknikal that health is also very important.
21:56Because we are very rare in such a scientist.
21:58Yes.
22:00They are all standing.
22:01What do you do?
22:01I am a dancer, I am an artist and I am a freelance work.
22:06So now it is necessary that I am doing all the artists.
22:10We are also doing BJP.
22:12We are not artists.
22:13But our mind doesn't do it.
22:15We are not doing it.
22:15We are performing for them.
22:17So we are doing it.
22:19We are doing it.
22:19We are doing it.
22:20We are doing it.
22:20We are doing it.
22:20But we are doing it.
22:22So you are doing it for unemployment?
22:26Yes.
22:26Yes.
22:27So that is why you are involved in this job.
22:30How many years are you?
22:31I am 28.
22:33Why are you here?
22:35I am the same.
22:37You are also doing it.
22:37No, but I am.
22:38You are also doing it.
22:39You are also doing it for 20 years?
22:40No, I am not doing it for 20 years.
22:41Because I did not do it for 20 years.
22:43I did not do it for 20 years.
22:45I did not do it for 20 years.
22:45So I am also doing it for 21 years.
22:47But I am a student who is not able to do it for a family problem.
22:51I am going to study.
22:53So I am not with the students.
22:55I am with the students.
22:58I am with the students.
22:58What do you want?
22:59I am with the students.
23:00I am with the students.
23:01That is what you want.
23:02Why is it?
23:04Do not know what that is.
23:05Do not know what the problem is.
23:06I do not know.
23:07Tell me.
23:08The same with the paper leaked.
23:10It is the paper leaked issue.
23:11That is why you are here.
23:13You are also asking for the students.
23:14My name is Mangalam.
23:16I am from Gundil Khan from Jhasi from Jhasi.
23:18Do you have come here from Jhasi from Jhasi?
23:19Is there a volunteer for Jhasi?
23:22Do you volunteer at Jhasi?
23:24Why did you volunteer have done this?
23:24This country is a struggle.
23:26We are from the first place.
23:27We are from the first place.
23:28We are from the first place.
23:32Why did you come here?
23:33To protect yourself.
23:35To protect yourself.
23:37If you are sitting in the country,
23:38after watching all videos,
23:40you don't have to protect yourself.
23:43You need to protect yourself.
23:45What was your intent?
23:47What was your intent?
23:49In 2024, it was leaked.
23:53It was leaked.
23:55I didn't get it.
23:56I didn't get it.
23:59I didn't know how many of my intent came.
24:01But it was leaked.
24:03It was leaked.
24:04It was leaked.
24:05You still have to stand here.
24:08I have to get it.
24:10It was leaked.
24:12But many of the people who got it,
24:14it was leaked.
24:18I had to read the notes.
24:19I got it.
24:20I got it.
24:21Then, we got to remove the flowchart
24:23and revisions it.
24:26So many people have to get it.
24:27There is a gap between one month.
24:28So many people have,
24:29you have to write in those details.
24:30So now the exam was done.
24:31You have had an exam,
24:33you have done the exam?
24:35Yes.
24:37Convisions made the exam after the exam.
24:40You have done it for the exam.
24:43the exam was done.
24:43Now you have done it for two days.
24:45foreign
25:41So he's cleared his need, but he's still back here.
25:44So he's cleared his need.
26:14So he's cleared his need.
26:19So he's cleared his need.
26:44So he's cleared his need.
26:53So he's cleared his need.
27:01So he's cleared his need.
27:12So he's cleared his need.
27:22So he's cleared his need.
27:53So he's cleared his need.
27:59So he's cleared his need.
28:18So he's cleared his need.
28:23So he's cleared his need.
28:25So he's cleared his need.
28:30from PM, but it's not addressing
28:32all the demands and problems.
28:34What's your favorite meme right now?
28:36My favorite meme right now,
28:38there is no any favorite
28:40meme of mine right now,
28:42but I'm really concerned
28:44about like
28:46Sonam Wong Chuk, he had to start
28:48for 26 days.
28:51For our PM to
28:52speak and address this
28:54question, he had to start for 26 days.
28:57And you want the
28:58education minister to?
29:00Can I see your banner?
29:04Still we don't have
29:05a single word from our education minister.
29:08Like small children
29:09of 6 to 7, 8 years,
29:12they are coming here and they are saying him to
29:13give the legislation, but he is not
29:15ready to speak or work.
29:17So we've seen how we came in
29:19and that's the line.
29:22If you can see the line that
29:24is sneaking all the way
29:26all the way there
29:28to get in.
29:32Why are you guys here?
29:33For the protest.
29:35For the protest.
29:35Where have you come from?
29:37I am from Delhi only,
29:38but my work location is
29:39Ahmedabad, so I came
29:40specifically for this protest
29:42to my home city.
29:43You've come from Ahmedabad
29:44all the way here
29:45to join the protest.
29:46What made you feel
29:48that you wanted to be a part of it?
29:49Dedication of the youth
29:50to save my next generation
29:52and get the best out of it
29:54from this particular protest.
29:56So you're going to be here
29:57till the time?
29:58Yes.
29:59Till when?
30:00Till 7, 8.
30:01Then I will come back again tomorrow.
30:04If you can see,
30:04that's the line
30:06and it's snaking in
30:08all the way
30:10where you can see people
30:11lining up
30:12to get in.
30:13This is only to get in.
30:15Have you dressed up
30:17because you're not going to get a job
30:18and that's why
30:19Shadi.com is your only option
30:21and you're dressed as a bride?
30:22Yes.
30:29The makeup artist is also here.
30:34And you are?
30:36I'm just guiding them.
30:38You're just guiding them.
30:39Alright.
30:39What made you come here
30:41in this get up?
30:42I understand you want
30:43to lodge a protest
30:43but a very interesting way
30:44of lodging your protest.
30:45The main motive is
30:46what I'm writing
30:47is that our career
30:51is falling.
30:51Now we're going to get married
30:55and we're going to get married.
30:56Now we're going to get married
30:57and we're going to get married
30:58and we're going to get married.
31:00Like I said,
31:00you look lovely
31:01and that's the makeup artist.
31:03Have you paid her
31:06for this makeup
31:06or is it a joint collaboration?
31:09My idea,
31:10my work,
31:10my display
31:11and of course
31:13we are supporting the youth.
31:14This is the collaboration.
31:16What I love about this generation
31:18what you can see here
31:19is viewers
31:20that they want to
31:21lodge a protest
31:22but it's a collab protest.
31:24A collaboration protest
31:25and it's all on Instagram.
31:28She's dressed beautifully
31:29as a resplendid bride.
31:30That's the makeup artist
31:31and she's registering
31:32a protest
31:33because if papers
31:34keep getting leaked
31:35then she won't find a job
31:37and the only option
31:38would be
31:38to get married.
31:42for those of you
31:44who don't understand
31:44the Gen Z lingo
31:46this is quite it.
31:47Well, good luck.
31:49Good luck.
31:51Save my future.
31:53Save my future.
31:54What's your name?
31:55Afia.
31:56Afia.
31:57Afia.
31:58Save my future.
32:00When did you
32:00have been a stall
32:01for this?
32:02Two hours ago.
32:03Two hours ago
32:04you have been a stall
32:04for this.
32:05Why are you,
32:06where are you
32:07and what are your goals?
32:08I'm a practicing lawyer
32:11in the Supreme Court.
32:12He's Anirudh
32:12and we all are lawyers
32:13here in Delhi,
32:14practicing in Delhi.
32:16So we,
32:16the progressive secular lawyers
32:18we have decided
32:18to support the victims
32:20who need the legal support.
32:23So this is a free legal clinic.
32:25Whoever is the victim
32:26in the police atrocities
32:27they can come forward
32:28then they can
32:30share their documents
32:31photographs,
32:33videographs
32:33or whatever the documents
32:34there are.
32:35So we will help them
32:36to file the complaint
32:37before the concern court.
32:38Has anyone come to you
32:39till now?
32:40No,
32:41one guy has come now
32:42so he will send the details
32:43he told he will send
32:44the details to this
32:45email ID.
32:46So and we are looking
32:48for some prime victims
32:49like whoever faced
32:51the girl students
32:53who were beaten up
32:54by the police officials,
32:55senior police officials
32:56in their private parts
32:57itself.
32:58So we have requested
32:59the organizers also.
33:00This is,
33:00we established
33:01with the consent
33:02of the organizers.
33:04Yesterday I spoke
33:04to Ashutosh
33:05so they are also
33:06supporting our cause.
33:08So we requested
33:09Everything is pro bono?
33:11Yeah,
33:11everything is pro bono.
33:12So we have requested
33:14the organizers
33:15to announce
33:15in their lunch also
33:17to find out
33:19the prime victims
33:20of this incident.
33:22Thank you, sir.
33:23The government has asked
33:25for 24 hours
33:26from the CJP protesters
33:29to decide
33:31on their key
33:32non-negotiable demand
33:33and that demand
33:34is that Dharmendra Pradhan
33:37resign.
33:38So we'll know
33:39in 24 hours
33:40whether the government
33:41has accepted
33:42their demand or not.
33:43Meanwhile,
33:44at Jantar Mantar
33:45there is a steady stream
33:46and you can see
33:47that continues to come in
33:49to join the protest
33:50right here.
33:51Well,
33:52you've had
33:53now in the last 24 hours
33:55with what we've seen
33:56the government understand
33:57the sentiment
33:58of the people here.
33:59They've changed
34:00their language
34:00of communication
34:01with the prime minister
34:02also in a selfie
34:03Instagram format
34:05giving out
34:05a statement
34:06and that video
34:08has seen
34:08one of the maximum views
34:10of the prime minister
34:12speaking directly
34:13to the students here.
34:14So in spirit
34:15of the Gen Z
34:16of what I feel
34:17when I have
34:18or what I felt rather
34:19since I've come here
34:21most of the people here
34:22organic
34:23they've come
34:24of their own volition
34:25they've come from far
34:26it's not just
34:27about paper leaks
34:28it's about unemployment
34:30it's about the
34:31angst of youth
34:31and the lack
34:32of opportunity.
34:34I'd like to end
34:36there's a lot of memes
34:37there's a lot of Gen Z
34:38lingo that is going around
34:39and a lot of these kids
34:40that you speak to
34:41sometimes are hesitant
34:42and one of them
34:43taught me
34:44that I'm a little
34:45this means shy
34:47so I'm a little shy
34:48well let's just hope
34:50to the students
34:51who've gathered here
34:54with
34:54who once again
34:56organically
34:57and are asking
34:58the government
34:59for change
34:59the government
35:00listens to them
35:01and shows them
35:02some heart.
35:04Reporting with
35:05camera person
35:06Pawan Kumar
35:07Preeti Chaudhary
35:07for India Today.
35:15Let's take you now
35:16to the latest news break
35:17that's coming in
35:18the Chief Justice
35:19of India
35:20has finally reacted
35:22if you remember
35:23two days ago
35:24there was word
35:25that came in
35:26that the Chief Justice
35:27of India
35:28had said
35:29that he did not
35:29have the time
35:30to watch videos
35:32this was regarding
35:32an urgent plea
35:34especially
35:35where it came
35:36down to
35:37what the
35:38police suggested
35:39was
35:40brutalities
35:41by the Delhi police
35:42on the protesters
35:43and at the back
35:44of it
35:45what was suggested
35:47is that the
35:47Chief Justice
35:48of India
35:49Mr. Surya Khan
35:50had said
35:52that he doesn't
35:53have the time
35:53to watch videos
35:54because one of
35:55the premise
35:56of that plea
35:58was that there
35:59are videos
35:59on social media
36:00which clearly
36:01seem to suggest
36:02that brutality
36:04that the Delhi police
36:06was extremely brutal
36:07in the crackdown
36:08on protesters
36:09he has now
36:10clarified
36:11and he says
36:11he was misquoted
36:12on that account
36:14he was speaking
36:15to my colleague
36:16Anisha Mathur
36:17Anisha joins us
36:18for more
36:18Anisha
36:19what was your
36:20conversation
36:20with CGI
36:22Surya Khan
36:23see Priti
36:24now remember
36:25just two days ago
36:26just yesterday
36:27in fact
36:28this comment
36:28had gone viral
36:29with the Chief Justice
36:30of India
36:31declining
36:32to entertain
36:33a lawyer
36:34who had said
36:35that the court
36:36must take
36:36this issue
36:37of police brutality
36:38as a so-moto matter
36:39at that time
36:40the Chief Justice
36:41said that
36:41I don't have time
36:42to watch videos
36:43this is
36:43you're wasting
36:44my time
36:44you're wasting
36:45your time
36:45today when we
36:46were talking
36:46to him
36:47at this
36:48conference
36:49that has been
36:49organized
36:50at the Supreme
36:51Court of India
36:51by Unicetral
36:53with the judges
36:55and lawyers
36:55from multiple
36:56countries here
36:57in India
36:57for the
36:58straight conference
36:58the Chief Justice
36:59clarified that
37:00I have never
37:01said that
37:01I will not
37:02hear the matter
37:02that the Supreme
37:03Court is open
37:04to all
37:05the Supreme
37:05Court
37:06is dedicated
37:06to doing
37:07justice
37:07but if
37:09somebody
37:10simply comes
37:11and hands
37:11over a paper
37:12the Supreme
37:13Court cannot
37:13simply take up
37:14that matter
37:15so-moto
37:15in fact
37:16the Chief
37:16Justice
37:16has clarified
37:17that petitions
37:18have now been
37:19filed on this
37:20issue of police
37:21brutality
37:22on this issue
37:23of what is
37:25happening outside
37:26in the
37:26CJP protest
37:27and he said
37:28that petitions
37:29are now going
37:30to be heard
37:30on Monday
37:31because finally
37:32proper petitions
37:33have been filed
37:34interestingly
37:35Priti we also
37:35asked him
37:36about the fact
37:37that the
37:37Cockroach
37:37Janata Party
37:38took its
37:39very name
37:40from a comment
37:41that he
37:41himself had
37:42made
37:42on that point
37:43of course
37:43he said
37:44he does not
37:44want to speak
37:45on that issue
37:46but he has
37:46repeated
37:47that the
37:48Supreme Court
37:49is open
37:49to all
37:50anybody
37:51who comes
37:51to the
37:52court
37:52with a
37:53legitimate
37:53petition
37:54through the
37:54proper
37:55procedures
37:55will be
37:56heard by
37:57the court
37:58as it
37:59is its
38:00duty
38:00to do
38:01complete
38:01justice
38:01so now
38:02with this
38:02clarification
38:03we will
38:03see how
38:04the hearing
38:04happens now
38:05on Monday
38:05because remember
38:06multiple petitions
38:07have come to
38:08the High Court
38:08as well
38:09some of which
38:09were heard
38:09today
38:10petitions have
38:11now also
38:11come to
38:12the Supreme
38:12Court
38:13so now
38:14how the
38:15courts are
38:15going to see
38:16these issues
38:16of police
38:16brutality
38:17how these
38:18courts are
38:18going to
38:18look at
38:19various other
38:20aspects that
38:21have come up
38:21we will have
38:22to wait
38:22and see
38:23back to you
38:24alright
38:25it's interesting
38:25Anisha
38:26would you
38:26elucidate a
38:27little
38:27where did
38:28the Chief
38:28Justice of
38:29India say
38:30he was
38:30misquoted
38:30because they
38:31were on
38:32two counts
38:33that were
38:33reported
38:33where he
38:34seemed to
38:34suggest that
38:35he doesn't
38:35have the
38:36time to
38:36watch
38:36videos
38:37because the
38:37premise of
38:38the plea
38:38was that there
38:39were multiple
38:40videos on
38:41social media
38:41suggesting police
38:42brutality
38:43number two
38:43he had also
38:44said don't
38:45waste mine
38:45or your
38:46time
38:48both these
38:49comments were
38:50made to
38:50the same
38:51petitioner
38:51remember
38:52advocate
38:52Narendra
38:53Mishra
38:54had approached
38:54the Supreme
38:55Court
38:55with a
38:56letter
38:57saying that
38:57the court
38:58should take
38:58this matter
38:59so a motto
39:00however instead
39:01of either
39:02sending the
39:02letter as a
39:03letter petition
39:04or filing a
39:05separate PIL
39:06the advocate
39:07concerned had
39:08mentioned the
39:09matter before
39:09the Chief
39:10Justice
39:10saying that
39:11well now
39:12you know
39:12there are
39:12multiple
39:13videos on
39:14YouTube
39:14on the
39:15media
39:15and therefore
39:16the court
39:16should take
39:16this
39:17home
39:17or
39:17the Chief
39:17Justice
39:18has now
39:18clarified
39:18that I
39:19have not
39:20said that
39:20we will not
39:21hear the
39:21matter
39:21I have only
39:22said that
39:23anything that
39:24comes through
39:25the court
39:25should come
39:26through the
39:26proper channels
39:27through the
39:27proper procedures
39:28that is what
39:29the Chief
39:29Justice has
39:29told us
39:30just now
39:31we are at
39:32the Supreme
39:32Court premises
39:33where judges
39:33and lawyers
39:35from multiple
39:35countries
39:36are here for
39:37a three day
39:38conference
39:38and that is
39:39where the Chief
39:40Justice has
39:40spoken to us
39:41exclusively
39:41thank you for
39:43joining us
39:43with that
39:43latest
39:44we will
39:44play out
39:45that short
39:47interview that
39:48my colleague
39:48Anisha had
39:49with the
39:49Chief Justice
39:50of India
39:51Mr. Surya
39:51Khan
39:51with that
39:52let's quickly
39:53dip into
39:53the other
39:53news break
39:54that we have
39:55been keeping
39:56a keen eye
39:57on viewers
39:58because about
39:59half hour ago
40:00we told you
40:01that the
40:01government is
40:02mulling sweeping
40:03changes in the
40:04NTA
40:05that announcement
40:05will take place
40:06at 8pm
40:08to add to it
40:0947 individuals
40:11now will be
40:11removed from
40:12the NTA
40:13sacked from
40:13the NTA
40:14action will
40:15also be taken
40:16against some
40:17of them
40:17the National
40:18Testing Agency
40:19will undergo
40:20now a complete
40:21overhaul
40:22the entire
40:23structure will
40:24be revamped
40:25as per the
40:25Education Ministry
40:26government is
40:27now preparing
40:28for major
40:29changes in
40:30the NTA
40:31especially with
40:33the restructuring
40:34within the next
40:34month
40:35the agency's
40:36outsourcing
40:37methods will
40:38also now
40:39change
40:39changes to
40:40be based
40:41on recommendations
40:41from an
40:42expert
40:42committee
40:43a leak
40:43proof
40:44system
40:44is going
40:46to be
40:46established
40:47I want to
40:48cut across
40:48to my
40:49colleague
40:49Maria
40:50who joins
40:51us for more
40:52Maria
40:5215 to 20
40:53examinations
40:54in this
40:54country
40:55are conducted
40:56by the
40:56NTA
40:57and now
40:57the government
40:58clearly
40:59mulling sweeping
41:00changes
41:00in the
41:01NTA
41:02what more
41:02can you add
41:03yes
41:04so Preeti
41:05the sense
41:05is that
41:05there is
41:06a need
41:06for a
41:06total
41:07overhaul
41:07of the
41:08education
41:08system
41:09and the
41:09message
41:10has to
41:10go with
41:11important
41:12decisions
41:13along with
41:14sacking
41:15of officials
41:16what we
41:16are being
41:16told is
41:17close to
41:18three to
41:19four dozen
41:19officials
41:20are likely
41:21to be
41:21removed
41:22there is
41:22a complete
41:23plan of
41:25restructuring
41:26of the
41:27NTA
41:28which is
41:28on the
41:29card
41:29the sense
41:30is
41:30that
41:31the
41:32entire
41:33examination
41:34proof
41:34can be
41:35made
41:35least
41:36proof
41:36only
41:37and only
41:38if there
41:38are
41:39certain
41:40provisions
41:41which are
41:41removed
41:42and certain
41:42individuals
41:43are changed
41:44and that
41:45is something
41:46that the
41:46government
41:46has
41:47already
41:48been taken
41:48and this
41:49is in
41:51keeping
41:51with the
41:52decisions
41:52which have
41:53been taken
41:53by the
41:53government
41:54in the
41:54last 48
41:54hours
41:55trying to
41:56send a
41:56message
41:56that they
41:57are concerned
41:58about the
41:59overall
41:59leak
42:00it is not
42:01just about
42:01the
42:01newspaper
42:02leak
42:02but the
42:03similar
42:04public
42:04examinations
42:05which are
42:06conducted
42:07by the
42:07NTA
42:07are now
42:08all under
42:08the
42:09scanner
42:10Maria
42:10for someone
42:11who tracks
42:11the government
42:12very closely
42:13what are you
42:13picking up
42:14on the
42:1424 hour
42:15window
42:16that the
42:16government
42:16has sought
42:17on the
42:17demands
42:17of the
42:18CJP
42:18with the
42:19primary
42:19demand
42:20being
42:20the
42:21removal
42:22of the
42:22education
42:23minister
42:24so maybe
42:25at the
42:26moment
42:26the
42:26clarity
42:27from the
42:27government
42:27is
42:28and the
42:28indication
42:29that
42:29the
42:30rebead
42:30exams
42:31have happened
42:31moves
42:32are being
42:33made
42:33by the
42:33government
42:34to fast
42:34track
42:34courts
42:35and other
42:36decisions
42:37with regards
42:37to legislation
42:38to make
42:39the entire
42:40punishment
42:40system
42:41also
42:41stringent
42:42so the
42:43resignation
42:43of
42:44Dharmindpathan
42:44is something
42:45that the
42:45government
42:45is not
42:46considering
42:46at all
42:47in the
42:48sense
42:48that you
42:48get
42:49it's also
42:49sending a
42:50message
42:50that
42:51perhaps the
42:52resignation
42:52the government
42:53says is an
42:53easy thing
42:54to do
42:54the tougher
42:55thing is to
42:56overhaul a
42:56system
42:57a system
42:58which has
42:58been existing
42:58for years
42:59and decades
43:00that system
43:01has to be
43:01fixed
43:02and for
43:03that it
43:04is the
43:04officials who
43:05are responsible
43:05who have been
43:06there for
43:06years and
43:07decades
43:07their removal
43:08would actually
43:09help in
43:10fixing the
43:10system
43:11so the
43:11resignation
43:12of the
43:12education
43:13minister
43:13Preeti
43:14as of
43:14now
43:15is really
43:16not on
43:17the table
43:17the government
43:18is not even
43:19considering it
43:20all right
43:21thank you
43:21maria for
43:22joining us
43:23with that
43:23quick update
43:24so maria
43:24as confirmed
43:25from her

43:27for now
43:27the resignation
43:28of the
