00:00Hi, I'm Muriel and this is my first digs in Miracle Mile Los Angeles.
00:05Come on in. So I found this apartment at a really crazy time in my life.
00:11It was post Palisades fires and I was staying with friends and at hotels and my mom and I
00:16were scouring the internet of places for me to live and we found this place and I immediately
00:21called and toured and I fell in love with it. I would say this past year has been my most
00:29transformative. I feel like everything has changed and living by myself has given me more of a sense
00:35of independence. I have a new sense of confidence as well and my mindset is just like wow I got
00:40here
00:41from nothing. I mean I had so much help on the way but being here I feel like very proud
00:46of myself.
00:48This is my first apartment alone so yeah it's just like all mine and I'm obsessed.
00:54Moving into this apartment was very hectic. Throughout the week when you're balancing a job
01:02and trying to get your life together it gets a little crazy. I was running around LA trying to
01:09get pieces and furniture and rugs and a bed for like two weeks straight. I kind of found my niche
01:17spots. I love the estate sales around LA and I actually found this amazing credenza at this
01:23estate sale in Hollywood. I went really late on like the last hour they were open and I was like
01:29this is perfect. This one random thrift store in like Westwood or something had this old yearbook
01:37from my old college. An amazing find for myself. This is my TV stand. This little angel I found
01:47at a thrift store in Palm Springs and I was like okay this thing's gonna protect me and my home.
01:54These tiny little houses I got at a pottery shop in Taiwan when I went with my family. They have
02:00little
02:00stairways with them which I think are just so cute and I love anything tiny so they fit perfectly.
02:06This is a very special lamp that my boyfriend gave to me for Christmas and we'll turn it on when
02:12we're watching movies or something. It is kind of fun to just look at. I feel like the glow on
02:18my face
02:19and it kind of makes me happy. So I love having that on at all times. Now let's keep going.
02:25So this is my bedroom. My most magical place in the home.
02:31This is my most sentimental corner in the home. It basically has everything I saved from the fires
02:38including my grandmother's jewelry box that she gave to me before she passed away. I just think
02:45she was the coolest lady and just had like very expressive jewelry and I'm really happy I took
02:51that over in my life. I love wearing jewelry. I love accessorizing. I'm like I'm just so happy I have
02:57like the pieces she used to wear. It's very special to me. These are me and my sisters. They are
03:04my best
03:05friends. They're back home in Texas but we talk all day every day. They are my role models and who
03:12I look up to. I miss them every day. I also got to save my diary that I've had since
03:20I was 14 years old.
03:21Very memorable. Very sentimental and I love all of these things.
03:28Right here is one of my most adult purchases. She kind of makes me mad to look at because it's
03:36very
03:36not aesthetically pleasing. So I hide her in the closet but I use her every day sometimes multiple times a
03:41day. So here's to her. Welcome to my bathroom. I love my bathroom a lot. I tried to make it
03:50as cute
03:51as I could because you know when you're spending a lot of time in here getting ready whatever it needs
03:56to look cute. So we have all my fragrances, my matchbooks, my candles, little jewelry and of course
04:02the essentials. You know girls. I love to know what's going on with my body so I keep everything I
04:08need
04:09on hand right here. All my skincare in here. Love to wash my face with ice cold water to begin
04:16the day.
04:16I go in with my serums and my creams. I love having just like moisturized glowy skin. I feel like
04:24I need
04:25that every day to feel myself. Okay follow me into the next room. Welcome to my kitchen. I spend a
04:34lot of
04:37without chilled bottle of red wine. Friday afternoon close my laptop pop open a bottle of wine. I'm like
04:45in heaven. It's perfect. Someone's here. I cannot believe how much you've done to this space. Can you
04:52believe? In such a short amount of time. I feel like I was scrambling. Yeah. For a month straight.
04:57I didn't have anything. I was so fight or flight. I felt like I was running around town. I had
05:03to get
05:03furniture. I had to get clothes. Like everything. But I pulled it together. It's my first solo apartment.
05:10I feel like I'm a baby still so it's so weird to live alone and like provide for myself. I
05:15feel so
05:16proud of myself. So that's that. Here's the end of my little solo apartment tour. Thanks so much for
05:24coming over. And now I have to get ready. So you have to go. Bye.
