00:00I'm the most fearful today about hoping that the red goes with my skin complexion
00:04and choosing the right outfits from here on out because you can't wear everything with red.
00:09Hi, I'm Tasha Carter and today I'm getting red hair. Growing up, my mom, she would always let
00:15me do my own hair. She always wanted to be a hairstylist but couldn't. So I've done just
00:21about every color of the rainbow from pink to blue, orange, everything. And then I went brunette
00:28and now I'm blonde and I'm ready to go red. My roots keep growing like every four weeks I need
00:33a touch up. And as a hairstylist, we don't have a ton of time for ourselves. So as much as
00:38red is
00:39still a little high maintenance, it'll be easier to maintain. I do trust that the stylists are going
00:46to do a great job. Going from blonde to red isn't as easy as just putting red on top. So
00:52it could be
00:53really tough and I want it to look natural. Hi, I'm Kat Sampson and I specialize in color at
00:58Mesh Salon. Hi, I'm Bo Stone and I work at Mesh Salon in Beverly Hills, California. I specialize
01:04in cutting, color, and extensions. I love doing redheads. I also do blondes and brunettes. I love
01:11to do natural pretty hair. Working as a colorist is really awesome because somebody can come in your
01:16chair and they're in an awful mood and they'll leave feeling like their soul is like had a makeover.
01:23Today, I'm going to take Natasha from platinum blonde to a beautiful copper redhead.
01:28I would say I'm most known for my blowouts and a lot of cutting and just styling in general.
01:36On Tasha today, I really would like to take her breakage and make it into a look. Hi, Tasha. I'm
01:42Kat. I'm going to be coloring your hair. This is Bo. Hi, Tasha. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet
01:46you both.
01:47So what are we doing today? I'm looking to do a total red transformation. With the cut, I have
01:53quite a bit of breakage from being blonde, so if we could make that cohesive. I think it'd be really
01:59nice to add some new shaping around the face and really show off the depth to the new color.
02:04We'll see you on the other side as a new woman. All right, let's get started.
02:12First, I'm going to put in the lowlights. I'm going to use two different colors. I'm going to use a
02:16darker color at the top and a lighter color on the bottom so it's a nice color melt to create
02:20some
02:40dimension and then I'm going to do her base in between. I'm going to make it a pretty gold copper.
02:54I'm going to let that process for about 30 minutes. I'm going to take her to the bowl. I'm going
03:03to
03:03rinse the lowlights separately so the color doesn't get on the ends and then I'll rinse the base out
03:08until the water runs clear. And then I'm going to apply a pretty gold copper gloss.
03:20Leave that on for 20 minutes until that processes. Rinse it out.
03:29And then I'm going to blow dry her.
03:34And then I'll add highlights to create even more dimension.
03:43Then I'll take her to the bowl. I'll re-gloss to make sure that the color really sticks.
03:59Wait for that to process. And then I'll shampoo condition and give her to Bo.
04:09So I'm going to make sure that I'm going to make sure that I'm going to make sure that I'm
04:10going to
04:10make sure that I'm going to make sure that I'm going to make sure that I'm going to make sure.
04:11When working with the hair, I usually like to start with the strong foundation of the length
04:18and then move into where the shape needs to be.
04:23A lot of times when clients come to me with broken brittle blonde, it's best to see the hair dry
04:30and really see what shape is missing and where the breakage begins.
04:45From there, I will go ahead and start with the bangs. I will shape them into the curtain
04:51that best frames her face.
05:06Often times I restyle the bangs multiple times so that way I can go in and either shorten it
05:13or add more texture to what will best frame the face.
05:19And now Kat and I will go ahead and turn her around for the big reveal.
05:25All right, open your eyes.
05:28Voila!
05:28Oh my gosh!
05:31This is amazing!
05:32You look great as a red hun.
05:34Thank you guys!
05:42I love my new hair. It looks amazing. I feel so much more confident. It was the change that I
05:49needed.
05:51Seeing Natasha's reaction in the mirror was awesome. I knew it was going to look perfect on her and I
05:55think that she should have been a redhead this entire time.
05:58Getting to see Natasha's reaction is one of the best parts about being a hairdresser,
06:03getting to see the transformation and how that really changes a person's outlook on themselves.
06:11Working with Kat and Bo was so much fun. They're both super talented. The process was great because
06:17they explained everything that was going on. It made me feel super confident in their chair.
06:22As a hairstylist, I was super impressed with the transformation. I feel like even though I kind
06:28know already what the process is, I still learned so much from them and the way that they work and
06:34I can take that too into the way I work and make it my own. Working with Natasha was really
06:40cool. It's
06:41really fun to do a stylist too. You get to talk about color, the process of it. We get to
06:46like pick
06:47each other's brains. As of right now, I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep this look for a long time.
06:53My hair feels super healthy. I feel like it looks healthy and I love how rich that it looks.
07:01Taking care of red hair is definitely a little bit more of a process. You definitely want to make
07:05sure that you're keeping up with the glosses. With Tasha's hair and the breakage from all the blonde,
07:11she's a client that I would highly recommend come in every six to eight weeks. Most women invest very much
07:19in their skincare routines and all of their makeup. Yet hair is the one thing that everybody wears
07:25every day. So I think it's a bigger piece of your confidence than what your face does.
07:34This look definitely makes me feel more bold and fiery, just like I wanted.
07:41I do wish looking back that I made this change sooner, but I'm just so happy to have it now.
07:47I'm super excited to show my clients my new look and to go out with my girls.
07:53I'm super excited to show my clients my new look. I'm super excited to show my clients my new look.
