00:14I want to say I'm known for pretty and really clean hair,
00:19something that doesn't look overly done,
00:21that done but undone look, if that's the same.
00:24Some of my favorite moments in my career
00:26that I've done so far would definitely be
00:29Kehlani's Coachella run in 2017
00:30where we did new hair colors every day.
00:33Another one of my favorite looks would have to be
00:35Ella Mai's Grammys moment in 2019
00:37when she won the Grammy for best R&B song for Vood Up.
00:42In February, my client and I, Kelly Rowlandhead,
00:45did this cute style on her, a bob.
00:48Me and my internet friends like to call it the Robert
00:50because bob is short for Robert,
00:52and Robert sounds a bit more sophisticated,
00:53and the bob is just too sophisticated.
00:55What I'm doing today,
00:56I'm going to recreate what I did on Kelly,
00:59which I loved, you loved, and the world loved it.
01:03Now, are you excited for what we're doing today?
01:05I'm so excited.
01:07I haven't seen myself with short hair in a long time,
01:09and I know you're gonna kill it.
01:10So the reason why I chose Brittany to recreate the style on,
01:12one, she's a beautiful girl,
01:14and I think she has the face shape
01:15that would fit this perfectly.
01:17Brittany's already braided down,
01:19and now we're about to go in and put on a wig cap
01:20just to kind of really conceal this,
01:22and then we're gonna go in with styling and cutting a wig.
01:26So first, you wanna make sure your wig cap
01:29is closer to your skin tone
01:30so that it blends seamlessly,
01:33and you don't have to add in any, you know,
01:35colored concealers or anything like that.
01:37You might see me add in a color or two,
01:40so don't pay me any mind what I'm saying right now,
01:41but also pay me mind because it's a good note to have
01:44if you're in a rush.
01:47Now we're putting on the wig,
01:49and I wanna see how it fits on her head.
01:51I'm making sure that it's seamless.
01:53I'm making sure that it's perfect,
01:54and I have this little trick that I do
01:56where I like to leave a little bit of the natural hairline
01:58out and apply the wig right behind it.
02:03I'm gonna go in with some pins,
02:05add those bad boys in there through the braids
02:07and through the cap, and while doing that,
02:09I'll cut the lace in this way
02:11where there's no excess lace to have out,
02:16so there's no need to glue it down.
02:23I use this gel, which is like a really light adhesive
02:26right at the center line where the part's gonna be,
02:29just to make sure there's no mishaps,
02:32it doesn't move, and it's extremely seamless,
02:35so you too have those questions of,
02:37is this a wig?
02:38Is this her natural hair?
02:40And then gonna take my hot comb in the front
02:43and just blend her hair on a really low heat
02:46into the hairline of the wig, so it looks seamless.
02:50Right now, I'm gonna take my blow dryer
02:52and just blow the hair out just a little bit,
02:54just to get it a tad bit straighter.
02:56I do want this to have a bit of texture to it,
02:58just because that's my thing,
02:59and it's just something that I've fallen in love with lately.
03:02And here's where we get ready for the cut.
03:05We're gonna go in with an easy, quick clipper.
03:12Now, I'm gonna go in with my scissors.
03:15It's gonna come out sharp as hell,
03:17and so I'm gonna just take it section by section.
03:19I'm gonna do two sections in the front,
03:21section it off by her ears, start in the back,
03:24and we're cutting away.
03:26You wanna make sure you're cutting to a place on the face
03:30where you feel most comfortable,
03:32and you feel like it'll be most complimentary.
03:34Don't go too short initially.
03:36Stay a little longer, and then cut up,
03:37because once you cut, you can't go back.
03:41You're gonna have to start all over.
03:42We don't have all that time, and neither do you at home.
03:48And here, I'm gonna go back in with my flat iron,
03:50and re-flat iron some pieces, just to, you know,
03:53get some kinks out, just in case it's not straight enough.
03:57We don't need it too straight.
03:58We want a little bit of texture.
03:59So we don't like perfection.
04:01Like that done, undone feel.
04:03So I'm gonna go in, give it a little pass through
04:06throughout the entire look.
04:07Make sure the front is seamless.
04:09There are no flyaways.
04:10Make sure everything is as seamless and clean as possible.
04:14And check that cut every area of the way
04:17to make sure it's ridiculously precise.
04:19You see me right here.

04:21I'm checking the cut on the right side.
04:23I'm checking in the back.
04:25For styling, I don't use much product
04:28because I don't like anything to weigh hair down.
04:30Bob's need fluidity.
04:32You know, Bob's need to flow.
04:34Now we're gonna take some hairspray,
04:36rub it in the palm of our hands,
04:38and then ease it right on top.
04:41You just want to ease it right on top,
04:44just enough to get those flyaways.
04:45You don't want to mask it into the head.
04:47We don't want it to be too tight.
04:50And then take a little bit of oil sheen,
04:52spray it all around.
04:55There you have it.
04:57A rubber.
04:58All right, it's time to take a look.
05:01Oh, my gosh.
05:04What do you think?
05:06I can't believe this is me.
05:12This was a process, but as the Prophet JZ once said,
05:17I do say it's the shit if I do say so myself.
05:21And what can I say?
05:22I did a good job.
05:23Like, I did a great job.
05:25She looks good.
05:26Are you thinking people are gonna think I cut my hair?
05:28They are.

05:30Now I can finally do this.

05:34It does look really good.
05:36To maintain this look at home,
05:37all you really need is a really good scarf.
05:40So how I would like to go in is tucking it behind the ear
05:44so it doesn't leave any bends, any marks.
05:47Taking a scarf to place it over,
05:49but make sure the scarf is tied under the bob,
05:51and then maybe adding, like, a bonnet on,
05:54just keep the bob hair in place,
05:56and then you get to go.
05:57I love this.
