00:01Oh, hi! I'm Courtney of Color v. Courtney, and welcome to My Sweet Digs! I can't wait to show
00:05you around, but first, make sure you hit that subscribe button to Refinery29. Oh, and if you
00:10have a headset, you can watch this one in virtual reality. Ooh. Just hit the icon of the play bar.
00:16Okay, let's get started. Come on in. So, I live in the West Village meatpacking area with my
00:27fiancé, Paris, and my French bulldog, Waffles. We pay about $48.50, which is expensive, but
00:34New York rent is expensive just in general. So, I think it's a pretty good deal for the
00:39space I have, which is kind of cool. Let's head to the living room. We're here in the
00:45office area of my living room. If you go that way, you go to my living room. If you go
00:49that
00:49way, you go to my closet. But here is where the Color v. Courtney magic happens. I really
00:54started my blog as a resume booster. I had just moved to New York. I had just
00:59graduated with my MBA. I applied for all these jobs, and no one wanted to hire me.
01:04And eventually, my blog got to a place where I had to choose one or the other. So,
01:07naturally, I chose Color v. Courtney, and now it's been my full-time job for about two
01:12and a half years. When we first moved into this space, we knew that I was going to be
01:16working primarily out of the apartment, so I had to have something that was super
01:20functional for Courtney as well as Color v. Courtney. And that's why we decided to
01:25create this work lift space specifically here. First stop, my blush bathroom.
01:33Well, here we are in my bathroom. I have a tub, which is, like, unheard of in New York City.
01:38And I painted it pink, which I paired with lots of red because I like pink and red. It's an
01:42unexpected color combo. One of my favorite parts of the bathroom, though, is hidden,
01:46but I'll show you because I like you. Ta-da! My rainbow medicine cabinet because everyone
01:52color coordinates their beauty supplies, right? Well, that's enough in here. Let's head to the
01:57kitchen. Come on. So, here we are in my kitchen. It's kind of a basic kitchen, so I painted it
02:07yellow.
02:08And the theme is lemons, so I have a whole bunch of lemon things going on. Yellow accessories,
02:14cute little yellow toaster, which was $80, which is too much for a toaster. Mango candy, pineapple
02:20candy, and passion fruit gummy bears. No one wants a lemon gummy bear. Over here on this lemon little
02:26rug is where Waffles eats. Waffles is my French bulldog. When I have people over to eat, I have a
02:32really cool table because this little guy here expands really long, and I have different leaves that
02:39I can put in to create different sizes. So, in case you haven't noticed yet, I live in a loft
02:49space,
02:50and this weird little kitchen corner is the space between my kitchen and my bedroom before you go
02:56down a really long hallway. But my favorite part of it has to be my butt vase. So, this maybe
03:03just looks
03:03like a normal, oddly shaped porcelain vase, but it's not. It's actually made up of a bunch of butts,
03:10which I just think is hilarious. I think we're done in here. Let's head to the bedroom.
03:17So, here we are in my bedroom, which is great except for one major issue. There's no natural light. So,
03:23it's really dark, and it can be hard to wake up in the morning, but I found a solution. I
03:28bought this
03:28natural light here on Amazon, and slowly every morning, the light will rise into my bedroom,
03:37waking me up and kind of simulating an actual natural light situation, which makes it way easier
03:43to wake up. So, I really like the color scheme in here because I think pairing blue with coral gives
03:49it like a warm, comforting, kind of cozy vibes, which that's what you want here in your bedroom.
03:54I went and painted this wall and this wall because it's kind of a funky shaped bedroom. It backs up
04:01into that kitchen nook, so we have this like weird shape. But painting these two walls and keeping the
04:06rest white brings these two closer together, so it makes it feel like less of an odd shape. And without
04:13further ado, let's go on to the living room. Another thing I really needed in this space is a huge
04:21closet
04:22because I have a lot of clothes and that's kind of part of my job. So, let's head over to
04:26the closet
04:27and see what I built.
04:30So, here we are in my closet. I know, it's kind of crazy. It's super colorful, but I love it.
04:37When we
04:37moved into this place, I knew I needed a place to hold all my clothes, my shoes, my accessories,
04:44everything that goes into being Color Me Courtney and my personal style. I keep everything here sorted
04:50by color. I have handbags all around. I keep them sorted by color because that's a huge part of my
04:56brand and it's really easy then to make new color combinations and figure out what I want to wear
05:02with what to create these really unique and inspiring outfits. All right, now let's head back into the living
05:09room. I think I've always just been drawn to color not only in my personal style but also in my
05:15home
05:16design style because that's what I grew up with. My mom was an interior designer and we had an orange
05:21living room and she would do crazy designs on my room and just help me experiment and try new things
05:27along the way. It really helped me feel comfortable with color and the idea that you could create a space
05:33with anything from a crazy ice by wall to Pantone canvases all down your hall. Growing up like that
05:40really helped influence my design style, my personal style, and my business now today. So I feel more
05:47comfortable with color probably because of my mom. Well guys, that's it for this apartment tour. I hope
05:52you enjoyed seeing how I use color in my world, wardrobe, and also in my loft and maybe it inspired
05:59you
05:59to do the same. Without further ado, let me walk you out. Thank you so much for watching Sweet Digs
06:05on
