00:01So, I will put it on my forehead like so.
00:05What do you mean? What do you mean you don't like Bruce?
00:08Are you kidding me? And the minute I kind of feel it, or if the
00:11tape falls off itself, because I'm acting so much with my forehead,
00:15it's like a reminder to keep this still. Are you fucking kidding me?
00:19He is my most prized possession, and if you don't like Bruce, I swear to God, you're not allowed to
00:23come into this house ever. Stay the fuck away, because I love Bruce, and if you don't like Bruce,
00:28we're not dating. Really, is that good? Joe.
00:31Joe. Joe.
00:40My name is Claire Glassford. I'm 26 years old. I'm
00:44from Nashville, Tennessee, and I am an actress. I was living
00:48in New York for six years, and then I moved out here a year ago.
00:52I currently live in Echo Park with my dog, Bruce.
00:56This is the house from Fast and the Furious, and I
00:59have not seen the movies, although, spoiler
01:01alert, I do believe it blows up.
01:04This is the
01:05thriller house.
01:08This is on your guided tour.
01:10Do you ever
01:11wear the shoulder up from the theater?
01:12They do.
01:17Yeah.
01:17Welcome to my apartment.
01:20This is my room.
01:23There's
01:23enough room for me
01:25and Bruce.
01:27I noticed that you had the
01:29poster for
01:32Collateral Beauty.
01:33Yeah.
01:33One of my favorite parts about my room is that I have a poster
01:38from Collateral Beauty, the movie I was in.
01:40I was on set with Kate Winslet, and Edward Norton, and Helen
01:48Maren was also cast in it, though I wasn't on set with her that day.
01:51I felt like I was waking up, like it was, you know, like a fairy tale, a dream was coming
01:56true.
01:57A few months after Collateral Beauty came out, I was dropped by my agents.
02:06Well, let me fill this out, and then I'll check back in. Will I give you headshots?
02:10Um, you will hand those to them.
02:12Okay.
02:14I have to look at all my character names.
02:15I have, like, four different sides with eight different characters.
02:19We got all of the, like, excerpts from the different, uh, scripts and pilots last night, like, at 4 o
02:27'clock.
02:28Great. You ready?
02:33Thanks.
02:39Wait! I can trap the dog!
02:45Pokemon!
02:46The good thing about having me as a stepmom is that I remember all the shortcuts to Westlife prep.
02:52Here we go.
02:53I didn't know you could rap.
02:55I didn't know you could be nice to me.
02:58I know. Shit.
03:02My parents are dead.
03:05Great.
03:06You were good. You were good.
03:08Thanks.
03:09Okay, thanks so much.
03:10Appreciate it.
03:11Great.
03:11It went fine, I think.
03:13I just didn't feel like I was able to tap into it right immediately at the top of the scene.
03:18You also, like, you try not to care or gauge the room.
03:21Right in the sense of, like, you have to just do what you do.
03:28I think that it would be crazy if you weren't like, what is this all for? Why? You know?
03:34You know?
03:37Yeah, but it can be hard. It really can.
03:43We are headed to, my friend Nikki Davis is, um, she wrote a play.
03:49And I auditioned for, um, the role of Jenna.
03:53And we're going to our first, um, reading of the play.
03:56Did you hear back from that Tish showcase?
03:59No, I haven't heard back.
04:01Um, no email yet.
04:05Well, hey!
04:06My theatre company, Red Stage, commissioned this play a little over a year ago.
04:11The next step is now putting a nice, solid reading together to see where we are with this draft.
04:17And to put it in front of a small, invited audience after a couple days.
04:21Scene one.
04:23Sort of sinister lighting comes up on a long wedding reception table,
04:26dressed with an elaborate floral arrangement.
04:28Look at me.
04:30Gray is wonderful.
04:31Yes.
04:32Isn't he?
04:32Gray is wonderful.
04:34See? Then how could this be a mistake?
04:36It isn't!
04:37Of course it isn't!
04:38Of course.
04:39So, that's it!
04:39Yeah!
04:40I guess.
04:41You guess?
04:41No, no, you're right.
04:42Yes, I'm right!
04:45So, now that that's out of the way...
04:50I just got out of that a little bit early so that I can make work from 4.30 to
04:5510-ish.
05:06When I was at work, I heard back from the Tisch audition and I did not get it.
05:14I was not asked to be a part of the ensemble for the other showcase.
05:20I try to remind myself that I love other things too.
05:24I love, I love where I live.
05:26I love that I get to walk to work.
05:27Although I wish I walked to work and it was a film set, but that's okay.
05:53So, imagine if I had a crystal ball and I saw everything in it and that was 100% your
06:00future.
06:00Five years from now, you had nothing.
06:03You never made it.
06:04Mm-hmm.
06:05You have less then than you do now.
06:07Would you still do it?
06:11Yeah.
06:13Fuck yeah.
06:13Yeah.
06:14I just have to keep moving, moving and maybe it will all end in like, it not working and I'm
06:21alone and...
06:24But...
06:25I don't care. I'll keep doing it.
06:33I get these chills all over my body.
06:36It makes sense.
06:38Like, it's...
06:39I'm doing the thing and it's working.
06:42I know what I'm doing and I feel confident in this environment.
06:46Gray?
06:48Is wonderful.
06:50Is it me?
06:50Gray is.
06:52Wonderful.
06:53See?
06:53So then how can this be a mistake?
06:56It isn't.
06:57Of course it isn't.
07:00Oh, so now that that's out of the way.
07:07You don't understand.
07:08I need this.
07:10I need to be here in Los Angeles.
07:12I do.
07:14Yes.
07:15At times acting can be excruciating.
07:17All I hear are no's.
07:21I sometimes drive all the way to Santa Monica in rush hour traffic.
07:24Just so that I can hear and know.
07:26And...
07:27And that can be really, really hard.
07:30Um...
07:32And it's not because...
07:33It's not because of who I am or what I...
07:35It is...
07:37Ah.
07:38Let's go back.
07:49Here.
07:52Hey everybody!
07:53Thank you so much for watching.
