00:13Hi.
00:13Are you here for the audition?
00:14Yeah.
00:15Go ahead and have a seat.
00:24I kind of like live for these moments where I get to actually act.
00:36Sometimes I think we have a theater ghost in here.
00:39Go ahead and complete the audition form.
00:45Staple us with that.
00:47Alright, so now I'll go ahead and have you stand on stage there.
00:50You will imagine a large object traveling from a distance.
00:58Okay?
00:58It's traveling from a distance and arrives at the liquid stage.
01:01Let's go.
01:31Okay, good.
01:32That's it.
01:33Alright, give yourself a round of applause.
01:38Alright, you will be notified within 24 to 48 hours.
01:42You did a great job.
01:44Forget about it.
01:45Relax.
01:46It's on Friday.
01:47Enjoy your weekend.
01:48Alright.
01:49I'm tired.
01:51There's something in the air today.
01:54I just chalk it up to being L.A.
01:56It's L.A.
01:56And there's all types of people in L.A.
02:06I moved to L.A. three years ago to become an actress.
02:09Capri.
02:10Capri.
02:11Capri.
02:12Capri.
02:12And that's clothes.
02:15I was about to go to law school and then I interned for a bunch of lawyers and no one
02:20was like happy for me or like excited.
02:23And then I just had this huge change of heart.
02:28My mom was just like, she just couldn't believe it.
02:33In Indian culture, they really care what other people think.
02:36And so the first thing she said was like, what am I going to tell other people?
02:40Like what about our reputation?
02:41In fact, they didn't tell everybody I went to acting until like two years after I kind
02:46of chose it.
02:51I was in this play and so my dad, the last time we talked, he was like,
02:56hey, did you ever get paid for that play?
02:59And I said, yeah.
03:00And I, I don't know why I just said 300 instead of 250.
03:04He was like, wait, didn't you drive there like every day over an hour?
03:07And I was like, yes.
03:08He was like, and how long did you rehearse for?
03:11It was like a full month.
03:13And he was like, so that means now how you didn't even make minimum wage.
03:21Should I do something like Indian?
03:23I'm just kidding.
03:24It's namase.
03:27I like coming here because it reminds me of home.
03:31I kind of become the black sheep of the family.
03:35I know my grandparents just don't.
03:37I don't even talk to my one grandfather.
03:40He was like, oh, that's not a profession.
03:42How can you give up all your college education on this?
03:45He was just going off.
03:46I just let it, I just know to like let them talk and say what they want.
03:50But then he turned to my mom after like, you know, haranguing me.
03:54And he was like, but this is your fault.
03:56Like you raised her like this.
03:59So that was really hard to see that my parents were getting like the brunt of a lot.
04:04Their, their parents are a different generation who just don't even understand.
04:23They're like, you know, I don't like not knowing what it is.
04:29But.
04:30I'm famous.
04:31I'm a nice building.
04:32Hi guys.
04:33It could be amazing.
04:33I need you too.
04:52Tonight, hon.
04:52Nice to meet you.
04:53Nice to meet you.
04:53That's how you do this.
04:54That's how you do this.
04:55Yeah.
04:56After you.
04:59Do you want me to be like center?
05:01You could be wherever you want to be on the stage.
05:04Okay.
05:04And you can talk to one of us or you can just talk to the whole room.
05:09That's however you want to do it.
05:10All right.
05:14Everybody needs to own it.
05:16Everybody.
05:20because we are like this.
05:23We are like this.
05:35Thank you so much.
05:36Have a great weekend.
05:38Lovely to meet you.
05:39The life of an actor is coming out of every audition
05:42and being like, I fucked up.
05:44I'm horrible.
05:45I suck.
06:01I don't think I look high school.
06:03You know what?
06:04Submit anyway.
06:07The second audition, he was like, we liked you.
06:12Well, some of us were on the fence.
06:14And so that was like kind of awkward.
06:17But then, you know, with this, I just had to let it go.
06:22I would just like for my income solely to be from acting.
06:27I know it sounds like really bad.
06:29I really don't want to cry.
06:36I know like the best way to prove them is just to like be stable in it.
06:41That paycheck and showing my dad like I can make a career of this
06:46and I'm going to come back and prove to you that like I can do this.
07:03I ask myself every day, am I doing the right thing?
07:10Am I?
07:13Because more than anything, more than anything in the world, I want to be good.
07:21Okay, let's cut.
07:22How did you feel about that one?
07:25I felt better, but I took the lines like way.
07:31Hey, everybody.
07:32Thank you so much for watching.
07:33My name is Nina Letty and I'm the director of LA Land.
