00:00My name is Andriy Kuxa. I am a creative producer of Vertical Series.
00:04For the last year, I have been working on the MyDrama project.
00:09During this time, in my opinion, short drama is not just a TikTok series or an accelerated film.
00:21In my opinion, it is a separate format, a separate genre,
00:26one might say, in which everything happens not just quickly, dynamically, emotionally,
00:33but at the same time, depth and interest in the plot are preserved.
00:40Therefore, it seems to me, in principle, that within the format of short dramas itself,
00:46the genre is not so important.
00:48Of course, there are genres that are currently more trending.
00:51But in general, it seems to me that any genre has the right to exist.
00:57The most important thing here is the form.
01:00The form and the presentation of the material.
01:04Therefore, any genre is possible.
01:06And it seems to me that the future will show us this.
01:10In my opinion, what makes a series viral is, first and foremost,
01:14the fact that people's demand for content has changed.
01:18If previously, it was cool to buy a huge book, several volumes, and read it,
01:24now it's called Long Red.
01:27People are more comfortable watching short videos, getting dopamine, quick dopamine.
01:34That is, people now even watch a movie on a laptop,
01:38simultaneously watching something else on their phone, and so on.
01:43Therefore, it seems to me that the main factor in the virality of vertical dramas
01:48is precisely people's clip-based thinking.
01:53The formula for a successful vertical series, in my opinion, is very simple.
01:58But it is not always easy to implement.
02:02I can highlight three main components.
02:05Interesting events,
02:07interesting characters,
02:09and clarity of the plot.
02:12That is, the plot should not be too complicated,
02:16and should be understood very quickly.
02:20If the viewer even turned it on, or got distracted,
02:23or turned it on not from the first episode, or missed something,
02:26they should be able to quickly connect to the story.
02:30In other aspects, the rules of big cinema also work.
02:33For example, it's better to show than to tell.
02:37High eventfulness, intrigue, suspense, and so on.
02:42And, of course, a focus on the beginning,
02:45on the first 5 to 10 episodes.
02:49You know, a little bit of an advertising rule works here.
02:52The first 3 to 6 seconds.
02:54We need to hook, to interest.
02:57But, at the same time,
02:59the viewer must understand what story they will be watching.
03:10Undoubtedly, stories about romance and love are quite popular.
03:16Now, in my opinion, society currently has a demand for two types of content,
03:21if you can call it that.
03:24Good and harsh.
03:26Good.
03:27Because it seems to me that there is not enough good and love in the world right now.
03:31And people have this demand.
03:33And harsh content works like a slap before an injection, right?
03:37That is, to prepare yourself for something.
03:39To experience some adrenaline-filled emotions that you potentially wouldn't want to,
03:44but which could happen to you.
03:48If we talk about the female audience,
03:50it seems to me that an underrated genre at the moment is true crime,
03:55especially true crime based on true stories.
03:59And it seems to me that this genre has great potential.
04:04If we talk about expanding the audience in principle,
04:07and the male audience,
04:10it seems to me that the horror and fantasy genres could be very promising.
04:16Fantasy.
04:16But again,
04:18we remember that in our niche,
04:20one of the key factors is budget optimization and fast production.
04:26Therefore,
04:27again,
04:28fantasy has great potential.
04:31But it is certainly a challenge from a production point of view.
04:35Regarding the future of the niche,
04:36it seems to me that it will develop rapidly.
04:40And I would like to see the quality improve not only in production,
04:44but also in storytelling.
04:46So that with a focus on cliffhangers and high eventfulness,
04:50we don't forget that our stories must still be strong,
04:54logical,
04:54interesting,
04:55and so on.
04:59Undoubtedly,
05:00artificial intelligence will also integrate into our niche.
05:04And a lot of content will be created,
05:07thanks to artificial intelligence.
05:10I also really look forward to a famous Hollywood star
05:13appearing in a vertical series,
05:16thereby setting an example for others.
05:20In general,
05:21I think that the niche will develop,
05:23and the format of vertical series,
05:25in principle,
05:26will become firmly,
05:28even more firmly established
05:30in the lives of our viewers.
