00:07And for most of the country, high pressure means that it's more fine, settled and clear weather.
00:12It's this high here near southern Western Australia, which is the main weather system for at least 80 or 90
00:17% of the country.
00:18However, we see a shift down here in the southeast, particularly Tasmania.
00:22A succession of cold fronts and troughs crossing the southern state here, bringing some very wintry conditions across Tasmania, clipping
00:30parts of southern Victoria at times through Thursday as well.
00:34Let's fly around the states, starting in Queensland and the coastal showers from earlier in the week are clearing on
00:40Thursday.
00:41That's giving us dry, bright and mostly sunny weather, almost statewide, with the exception of a few showers in the
00:47very, very far north, north of Cooktown.
00:49For everyone else, temperatures are a little above average, including around Brisbane.
00:53High 24 degrees here. We've got 20 in Toowoomba and 28 in Longreach under sunny skies.
01:00Much of New South Wales will also be seeing a fine day on Thursday.
01:04Plenty of clear skies and sunshine here.
01:06We'll be quite a cold morning and then a mild afternoon.
01:09A moderate westerly breeze affects most areas.
01:13In terms of rainfall, we could see a couple of light showers around the southwest slopes,
01:17perhaps the snowy valleys and the Riverina, and the snow level will be about 900 metres,
01:22so perhaps a flurry of snow for anyone higher than that, but the rain and snow totals will be low.
01:28A brisk southwesterly wind across Victoria on Thursday is going to pepper southern areas with showers.
01:35It might feel like a bit of a wet day, but we won't see big amounts of rainfall accumulate,
01:39so there's no worry about anything such as flooding.
01:43That wind is really chilly. Maximum temperatures in the 10 to 12 degree range for much of southern Victoria.
01:49We could see 13 or 14 further north, but a bit of wind chill will make it feel cool up
01:54there as well.
01:55Elevated parts of the state could see a flurry or two of snowfall here above about 800 metres,
02:01but maybe only a centimetre or two of snow expected.
02:04It will be very wintry across Tasmania tomorrow. Strong cold winds blowing up from the southwest.
02:11Look, we've got some single digit maximum temperatures, and that doesn't even account for the wind chill factor,
02:17so perhaps it's feeling more like four or five degrees outside.
02:20With the cold conditions, the snow level will be quite low in Tasmania tomorrow.
02:25We could see snow above 300 or 400 metres, and that could potentially affect a couple of higher roads and
02:31passes tomorrow.
02:31So if you are planning to travel across the state, definitely check that those roads are open.
02:37When it comes to rainfall, we'll see the majority of the wet weather through western parts.
02:41Could easily see 30 to 50 millimetres out there tomorrow.
02:44Less rain in the north and the east, including Hobart, perhaps closer to 5 millimetres in those areas,
02:49but still feeling pretty wet, windy and wintry.
02:53One more thing to throw in the mix, a damaging wind warning, which will be in place for areas south
02:57of Hobart.
02:59A much lighter southerly flow for South Australia that will keep a bit of a cap on the temperatures.
03:05We're looking in the lower half of the teens in southern areas, and the upper teens for northern parts of
03:10the state.
03:11The wind coming in off the sea will bring one or two light showers to coastal parts from Mount Gambia
03:17through Adelaide, out towards the Eyre Peninsula and the far west coast, but maybe one or two millimetres of rainfall
03:23tops.
03:24And the weather that you're experiencing on Wednesday in western Australia is going to be very similar to what we
03:30see tomorrow.
03:31Very little changes in the weather pattern.
03:33That means another mostly bright and sunny day along the west coast, including Perth.
03:37High 18 degrees there.
03:38Bright and sunny, but a little breezy up around the Pilbara.
03:41We'll see a touch of cloud over the southern interior and the south coast, with one or two light showers
03:46possible down at sea level.
03:49And for Australia's north, could be a little bit of fog through some eastern parts of the Top End tomorrow
03:53morning.
03:54That shouldn't last all that long.
03:56Maybe an afternoon shower around parts of Arnhem Land, including around Nullumboy.
04:00For everyone else, it's a fresh southeast wind.
04:03So a little bit breezy, a little bit gusty tomorrow.
04:06The humidity is at the low end of the spectrum, and the temperatures in many areas are one or two
04:11degrees below average.
