00:00Saudara, setiap pekan anggota Parlemen Singapura membuka waktu khusus bertemu langsung dengan warga
00:05dalam sesi yang disebut Meet the People's Session.
00:08Kopas TV berkesempatan melihat langsung bagaimana sesi ini
00:12dengan ikut Meet the People's Session bersama Menteri Pendidikan sekaligus anggota Parlemen Singapura, Desmond Lee.
00:19Ini biasanya kita ikut belusukan pejabat di Indonesia ataupun di Jakarta.
00:25Nah, kali ini kita ikut belusukan pejabat Singapura.
00:28Oke, gimana sih? Yuk ikutin terus.
00:30Pejabat Singapura mempunyai waktu khusus bertemu langsung dengan warga.
00:34Sesi ini disebut sebagai Meet the People's Session.
00:37Salah satunya dilakukan di wilayah Bunlay di wilayah barat Singapura
00:41yang berada di dalam kawasan perencanaan Jurong West
00:44oleh anggota Parlemen sekaligus Menteri Pendidikan Singapura, Desmond Lee.
00:49So, Mr Desmond, can you explain more about the session, the Meet the People's Session?
00:55Is it a member of parliament or something like that?
01:00Yeah, so the Meet the People's Session is a weekly session where we, as a member of parliament
01:08from the People's Session party, because I'm the MP for the area, we hold the Meet the People's Session
01:14in order to speak to residents.
01:18Residents who come here face issues.
01:22Some are financial issues, some are health issues, housing issues, job, illegal and so on.
01:27And they come here to raise the concerns that they have, and we do our best to try to support
01:33them.
01:33Some of this support could be in the form of making appeals to different government departments
01:37to have their issues looked into.
01:39Some of it involves us reaching out to other agencies and social service agencies to get help for the residents.
01:48And some of it is our own local assistance schemes and programs that we provide to support residents.
01:54So that's done every week.
01:55So the Meet the People session, we don't just provide assistance by making appeals.
02:02We also have other community services that we provide in the district.
02:07For example, you saw tonight, we have a group of volunteer lawyers.
02:10It's a legal clinic to deal with legal issues.
02:14We also have a jobs booth to help residents looking for jobs and skills and training.
02:21And of course, we have what we call food care.
02:23Different districts also have this, where we provide additional groceries to residents who may need extra supplement.
02:32And of course, we have volunteers, hairstylists who help our seniors who need a haircut as well.
02:38So then, of course, other services in other days of the week.
02:41How do you give the solution for the people?
02:44Well, we have a team of volunteers and myself listening to the residents' issues.
02:48We will then identify possible ways to help resolve the issues.
02:56And then seek the relevant government departments, social service agencies' help.
03:02In this digital era, we know that media social, like Facebook, email, but you directly visit the people.
03:12The residents can send a message to you.
03:14Yes.
03:15So this is a meet the people session. It's physical.
03:17They come and speak to us.
03:19Once a week, we also do house visits.
03:22That means we go and knock on doors and ask residents any issues they want to raise.
03:27That's physical.
03:28We also, on weekends, do walkabouts.
03:30That means we walk around the estate and they can always reach out to us physically.
03:34So these are three physical modes.
03:36But in addition to that, we have digital platforms as well.
03:40So residents have our email.
03:42They also can WhatsApp to an official number if they face issues.
03:47They can also talk if someone manning the phone.
03:51And of course, on social media, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms, they can write to us.
03:58And then we will then connect with them either digitally, on the phone, or physically.
04:16Di Singapura, banyak anggota parlemen menggelar Meet the People session secara rutin di daerah pemilihannya,
04:23sebagai wadah bagi warga untuk berkonsultasi mengenai berbagai persoalan sehari-hari.
04:32Terima kasih.
