00:00We just heard from the U.S. president there. He made some very, very bold claims about deep
00:04state cover-ups and election interference. Do the documents released by Trump provide
00:10credible evidence of Chinese meddling? Well, it's good to be with you again. And I would have to say
00:16that this is a complete and utter nothing burger. There is nothing in these documents that we were
00:22not aware of prior to the president speaking last night. Everything that I have seen that has been
00:30publicized is stuff that we have already been familiar with, that the Chinese, through their
00:35intelligence and security services, constantly monitor U.S. presidential elections. They do have
00:42favorites in those elections. They do engage with certain prominent figures. They do all kinds of
00:50things that I think any state would do in the spy game to try to persuade others to go along
00:59with
00:59what they want accomplished. And so I don't see anything different here. Now, the president of
01:04the United States wants to make this his counter to what he calls the Russia hoax from 2016. He wants
01:14to
01:14say that was fake. That was fake news. This is real, right? And here are the documents to prove it.
01:20But
01:20the evidence simply does not support his claim. What was different about the intelligence community's
01:26assessment about Russian interference in the 2016 election is that the entire community agreed that
01:34Russian President Vladimir Putin had directly and personally authorized interference attempts in the
01:41election to denigrate Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and to prop up then Republican nominee Donald Trump.
01:49And kind of like this, actually, that assessment from 2016, early 2017 does not say conclusively
02:00whether Russia succeeded. And I think what we're seeing with the current dump of documents on China
02:07for 2020, nowhere in those documents does it say China succeeded in its actions. Yet the president wants you to
02:15believe that China did somehow succeed in order to lay the groundwork for questions about the elections
02:23coming up in November and to also try to pass his Save America Act. I think this is a disgraceful
02:30move by the president of the United States.
