00:00The temperatures are just not good for the instrument, so we always try to keep guitars inside.
00:05We actually have a locking mechanism so it doesn't fly open while we are in motion.
00:09The motor wasn't even engaging, like, what is going on? We're like, oh, we broke it, oh no.
00:30Hey, hey, come on in.
00:47Welcome.
00:48What's up, I'm Josh from Defeated Sanity.
00:50Jacob.
00:51We're on tour with Sangwasugabag, Despised Icon, Corpse Pile.
00:55This is day two, so you're catching a fresh bus.
00:58Yeah.
00:59And you guys.
01:00Still has that new bus smell.
01:01So, yeah, we're looking at two of the drivers on this tour.
01:04There's one more guy, which is Vaughn, who is able to drive this beast of a vehicle.
01:09And Lella just kind of kicks back and, you know, keeps everyone chipper with this bullshit.
01:14Indeed.
01:15So, yeah, we didn't hire a driver for this one.
01:19We're just taking shifts.
01:21Yep.
01:22Splitting it as equally as we can, you know, a little bit after the show, most of the driving.
01:26A few hours at a time, you know, really not trying to overdo every single time.
01:30Yep.
01:31Yep.
01:32Pretty easy.
01:33And, yeah, we basically make it a rule to always have a co-pilot so nobody's driving totally
01:37on their own.
01:38Just, you know, having conversation going, listening to tunes and stuff that just keeps morale high,
01:42keeps you from dozing off, you know.
01:44Yeah.
01:45Safety first, you know.
01:46We do some night drives after every show basically just to get us out of the city is essential
01:50because, you know, the clusterfuck of dealing with early morning traffic in a city, you know,
01:54absolutely has to be avoided.
01:56It's great to get out of the metro areas while it's like, say, like midnight, one in the morning,
02:00there's not too many people on the road.
02:02Totally.
02:03Just like an hour, two hours because, you know, it's high in two.
02:05Yeah.
02:06So, there's a double bed above the driver.
02:10We have the luxury to not having to share it.
02:13So, so far, it's been mine or Vaughn's.
02:16We sometimes switch off depending on who's driving.
02:18But, yeah, me or Vaughn's sleep up here.
02:20There's a TV which we haven't even plugged in yet, honestly, but it looks like it would work.
02:25It actually folds out with an arm.
02:27It's on an arm, yeah.
02:28Pretty darn cool.
02:30So, got an HDMI.
02:32So, one of these days, I'm going to hook up my laptop and watch a flick or something.
02:37Other than that, it's very spacious.
02:38A little bit hard.
02:39I'm not going to lie.
02:40A little hard, a little cold up here.
02:41We put a mattress topper on.
02:42It helps a little bit.
02:43But, yeah, two people would fit.
02:45But then again, having somebody in the back get out at night or something, rolling over
02:50the other person, we're just like, yeah, let's not deal with that.
02:53Yeah.
02:54Other than that, this is a pretty cool spot.
02:56So, this couch actually folds out into another bed, which I've kind of been taking the most of.
03:00Me and Lilla kind of share this one.
03:02And then Lainey, our sound woman for this tour, actually takes up this one.
03:06Because once this guy is folded into a bed, it's a little short.
03:10So, when one of us lays on it, we have to lay diagonally and our feet hang out into the aisle.
03:16There we go.
03:17It's kind of not too comfy if you're on the taller side.
03:20This guy's going in here and it makes a nice flatbed.
03:22Yeah, exactly.
03:23Let me do that.
03:24And this one's actually, we've been in quite a few RVs since we started doing the RV thing
03:31on tour.
03:32And this one actually probably has the best table bed out of all the ones we've used.
03:39But yeah, Lainey takes this one because she's the shortest of the bunch.
03:43So, she fits just perfectly in there.
03:45Yeah, exactly.
03:46It's pretty amazing.
03:47Like, she's maybe this tall.
03:48Yep.
03:49And yeah, otherwise none of us would be able to do this one.
03:52But yeah, it's pretty neat.
03:54And this model of RV actually has an extension on the living room wall.
03:59So, this whole wall actually pushes out, I'd say, a good like two, two and a half feet.
04:03Yeah.
04:04So, yeah, we get a nice spacious living area during the day if we're, or at night if we're
04:07parked at a truck stop or something like that.
04:09We can't send it out now because we're on the streets of Chicago and we'll probably get
04:13hit by a bus.
04:14Yeah.
04:15Funny enough, we didn't realize that the parking brake has to be engaged to do this.
04:19So, for the first night, we're complete dummies trying to slide out.
04:22The motor wasn't even engaging.
04:24Like, what is going on?
04:25We're like, oh, we broke it.
04:26Oh, no.
04:27And then I read the sign and finally like, oh, the parking brake has to be engaged.
04:30Like, oh, it goes out.
04:31Read the fine print.
04:32I believe this is all CDs right here.
04:34Yep.
04:35Pretty much CDs and like stickers and basically merch.
04:40Yep.
04:41Yep.
04:42This is all of that.
04:43All of these as well.
04:44All smaller merch items.
04:45It's all reutilized for merch.
04:46Yep.
04:47There's some like accessories, like trailer accessories up there, I believe.
04:49And now we start getting into the consumables.
04:51Yep.
04:52Advil.
04:53Salt's important for Lilla.
04:54Yeah, Lilla loves salt.
04:55Lots of salt always.
04:56Yeah, we got big brother and small brother.
04:59Yep.
05:00We got our contraption for the paper towels.
05:03Really works really well.
05:04Necessity is the mother of invention.
05:05Yep.
05:06Even the bungee cord even holds when you open this.
05:08Cereal.
05:09Special K, of course.
05:10Some Clorox wipes.
05:12Other snacks.
05:13Healthy snacks.
05:15Rice Krispies.
05:16Rice Krispies.
05:17That's Von's shit.
05:18I don't know what's up here.
05:20More CDs.
05:21More CDs.
05:22Okay.
05:23Cool.
05:24Down here, we have Lainey's suitcase, which fits in there perfectly.
05:28And more kitchen stuff.
05:29The toaster actually goes in there.
05:30Somebody left it out.
05:31So, yeah.
05:32This toaster, first of all, it only runs with the generator, which activates these plugs.
05:37Otherwise, this won't even run.
05:38Same with the microwave, by the way.
05:40Somebody left it out.
05:42Normally, it has rubber feet, but all this stuff shifts a little bit in the turns.
05:45So, normally, the toaster stows away right here.
05:48That's where it should go.
05:51And what's next?
05:52We got some silverware in here.
05:54And antacid tablets.
05:57Cool.
05:58Collection of utensils.
06:01That would never be used, probably.
06:02I don't even know.
06:03I've never seen this down here.
06:04That's the bag drawer.
06:05I've never gone down here.
06:06That's the bag drawer.
06:07Trash bag.
06:08Trash bag is the most important part, of course.
06:09And this thing is getting quite good use as well.
06:12Also needs to run on a generator or shore power.
06:14So, yep.
06:15Gas stove.
06:16Actually, a virgin gas stove.
06:18We haven't used it on this tour.
06:20Normally, literally, the only thing we do is boil water for tea and stuff.
06:24Coffee pour over.
06:25But on this tour, still a virgin.
06:28Fridge, freezer.
06:29And we actually have a locking mechanism, so it doesn't fly open while we are in motion.
06:34Let's see what we got in here.
06:35Fridge first.
06:36Let's see what we got to re-up on.
06:37All right, so basically, yeah, cold brew.
06:40We got a couple of things of milk, some oat, some 2% to represent.
06:44Venue hall, for sure.
06:46Venue hall.
06:47Some Reese's Oreos.
06:49I'm a cottage cheese guy.
06:50I like this at night.
06:52Yep.
06:53Yep.
06:54I just, we need to eat the grocery store.
06:55Avocado that was in there this morning.
06:56Yes.
06:57It's been sitting there all week.
06:58And I think there's one thing in here, which is...
07:00Ah, Laney's Uncrustables.
07:01Laney's Uncrustables.
07:02Yes.
07:03Which I may or may not steal.
07:04Late night snackage.
07:05Yes.
07:06Right there.
07:07And yeah, we got to restock, as you can see.
07:09The next Walmart trip is definitely in order.
07:11It's on the horizon.
07:12Oh.
07:13Also important, the spice rack.
07:16Which has no spices, but tea materials for me.
07:19Some goodies in here.
07:20Some goodies.
07:21Room temp order, always good.
07:23A tour's not a tour without nannas.
07:25Yep.
07:26Oh yeah.
07:27For sure.
07:28Needs to be some nannas.
07:29I hope we didn't do this.
07:30Jesus.
07:31So, one thing is, Lila's a vegetarian.
07:33Lainey is too, actually.
07:34She is, yeah.
07:35Yeah.
07:36So, Lainey and Lila are vegetarian.
07:38Lila loves to have carrots, cucumbers, and oranges.
07:42So, that's usually always in stock here.
07:45Yep.
07:46Always a carrot.
07:47Yep.
07:48Yep.
07:49He's like a horse, you know.
07:50Feed him a carrot and he's good to go for the day.
07:52I honestly just ran out of everything, but I usually have, I have bread, peanut butter,
07:56avocados, so I just make my, like, usually like an avocado bagel or peanut butter toast
08:01or something.
08:02That's like my typical breakfast, along with the coffee.
08:04Mm-hmm.
08:05That's pretty much all I eat in here.
08:06And like breakfast for me, I'll do like cereal or oatmeal, something like that.
08:09Not too much.
08:10Yeah.
08:11Actually, there is one cereal that I bought this time because I love this one.
08:14I was excited to see it.
08:15Muesli.
08:16It's Muesli, yeah.
08:17Yeah.
08:18Somewhere back here.
08:19It's a very German thing, but there's this one brand without trying to advertise, but
08:23this is really good Muesli.
08:25Available in America.
08:26So, here's the shower.
08:27As you can see, we're not using it.
08:29In fact, we secured it after our gear got showered once and it was just a matter of time,
08:35so now I'm like, no, this cannot happen again.
08:37These bungee cords are here for a reason, normally our guitar store here.
08:41So, bass, bass Enki, like dual, right, guitar Enki, and then like some minor stuff.
08:47And these Enki's, they're pretty top heavy and they're pretty tall, so what we do is
08:50just, we kind of wrap this around the handle and it kind of like, if it ever swings, it
08:54only goes this far and like bounces right back, so that's pretty cool.
08:58Also, perfect to dry show clothes on here.
09:02So the reason we're storing the guitars in here is twofold.
09:05First of all, there are babies and we don't want them out in the cold and, you know, where
09:08they are, you know, potentially getting robbed of stuff.
09:11But also, um, the, uh, the temperatures are just not good for the instrument and the tuning
09:15and everything.
09:16So we always try to keep guitars inside with us, you know, if you're cold, they're cold.
09:22So basically the same principle applies.
09:24It's also good to have them inside the RV because then while we're driving, we can change
09:28strings, you know, all that kind of stuff.
09:30Yeah.
09:31So yeah, it's good to have the stuff that's, uh, that you're using most often inside so that
09:36we can always have access to it.
09:38Yeah.
09:39And here we have ye olde lavatory.
09:41Number one only.
09:42Um, that's a trash bag.
09:44Don't mind us.
09:45Um, and yeah, so we don't really, uh, we only are allowed to pee in here.
09:50Um, but otherwise, you know, we, you know, got some mouthwash, uh, hand soap, all that
09:56kind of stuff.
09:57But, uh, yeah, it's, uh, anything of, uh, we usually actually will stop and me personally,
10:03I don't like to like brush my teeth and stuff while we're moving as you know, I bang my
10:06head on the door and stuff all the time.
10:08Um, but, uh, I'll usually do most of my, uh, daily routine when we're stopped at a truck
10:14stop or something.
10:15Cause I can just bring my toiletry bag in with me and do it with some space rather than being
10:19clustered inside of here.
10:20Um, but yeah, it's good to have when we, uh, some shows we don't have, the drives can be
10:27very long sometimes.
10:28Um, and we don't have too many chances to stop.
10:31So if somebody has to pee, we don't have to pull over and pee, you know, nobody's,
10:35nobody's, uh, schedules are synced in that regard, you know?
10:37I like this feature by the way, the magnetic door.
10:40So basically for when you want kind of privacy.
10:44So this thing is, has a little bit of a, I don't know what this is, like a little shield
10:48that's soft, but you know, this basically enables you to separate this bedroom bathroom
10:53section from the rest of the bus, which is pretty neat.
10:56Yeah.
10:57Magnetically holds it in place even while driving.
10:59Yeah.
11:00Okay.
11:01Quick comment on this.
11:02I don't know what it is with this RV, but everything is bilingual in English and German.
11:06Not Spanish, not French, English and German.
11:08I love it.
11:09So it's like, kühlt maximum 11, well, now I'm speaking English, kühlt maximum 11 Grad Celsius
11:15under Außentemperatur.
11:16Or furnace.
11:17Heizung.
11:18So if you don't know German yet, this is great because you can learn it right on these signs
11:22all over the RV.
11:23Yes.
11:24Indeed.
11:25And there's the master bedroom.
11:27Yes.
11:28This is the last kind of major section of the RV.
11:31It sleeps too, pretty comfortably actually.
11:34It's probably the most comfortable when...
11:36It's probably the most comfortable place to sleep when we're stopped.
11:39Yeah.
11:40But because...
11:41So we're actually behind...
11:42Nice.
11:43We're behind the rear wheel of the RV here.
11:45So while we're driving, if we go over bumps and stuff, this is basically a springboard
11:48for a pool.
11:49Yeah.
11:50It's a bouncy house.
11:51Yeah.
11:52We've been airborne a few times.
11:53Oh yeah.
11:54But it is the most comfortable mattress.
11:55It is.
11:56And it also is always nice and cozy warm because there's actually heat coming out down here.
12:00And...
12:01Good storage too.
12:02We usually just empty our suitcase and stuff into these cubbies.
12:05We each have one section.
12:06So this is my section.
12:07All the entire belongings that I brought on this tour are basically in here.
12:11I think those down there.
12:14One is up here.
12:15You over here.
12:16So that way we can just leave our suitcases empty in the trailer because they're always
12:20a pain in the ass.
12:21So having it, you know, kind of put away really helps our routines.
12:25Yeah.
12:26So yeah, that concludes the bus tour.
12:28Again, we're Defeated Sanity.
12:29Thank you guys for joining us today.
12:32Be sure to catch us on tour.
12:33We're always on the road or pretty damn often.
12:36Yep.
12:37You can check us out at any major social media platform.
12:40Instagram, Bandcamp, all that kind of stuff.
12:42DefeatedSanity.com
