00:00Let me give you some advice stranger. Leave. Now. You ain't welcome here.
00:05Welcome to Mojo Plays and what's behind that wall?
00:08Oh, the worst thing I've ever heard of? Cool, cool.
00:10These are 20 video game locations with a dark secret. Let's go.
00:14Before we continue, we publish content all week long,
00:17so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified of our latest videos.
00:22Blue Water Marsh Red Dead Redemption 2
00:25Mother, you can be so ungod.
00:28For a game that keeps both boots firmly planted in reality,
00:31Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't afraid to wander into the supernatural every now and then.
00:35One of its creepiest secrets hides deep within Blue Water Marsh,
00:38where players exploring after dark may spot the glowing spirit of a woman drifting through the fog.
00:42Instead of attacking, she calls out in haunting, echoing cries.
00:46Yeah, I'm good.
00:47By piecing together clues found around the area,
00:50you learn her name is Agnes Dowd and her tragic story unfolds.
00:53After her father murdered the man she loves,
00:55Agnes killed her father before taking her own life in despair.
00:58Apparently, even death wasn't enough to let her finally rest,
01:02making this one of the game's most chilling discoveries.
01:04Either that or my horse after a train ran through it.
01:14Shadow Temple, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
01:22Most people remember Kakariko Village as a quiet little stop filled with chickens,
01:26friendly faces and the occasional angry cuckoo-related incident.
01:30Dig a little deeper in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time though,
01:32and things become much harder to smile about.
01:34Hidden beneath the village lies the Shadow Temple,
01:37a dungeon packed with prison cells, execution equipment, stained floors and creepy hallways
01:41that seem built to make visitors question every life choice they've ever made.
01:45The game never outright explains its purpose,
01:47but the clues scattered throughout paint a grim picture.
01:50It strongly suggests that the Sheikah handled the royal family's dirty work in secret,
01:55using this hidden temple for imprisonment and interrogation,
01:58while the peaceful image of Hyrule remains safely intact above ground.
02:05Hound's Ditch Home for Wayward Youth, Alice Madness Returns.
02:16At first glance, Dr. Angus Bumby seems like the sort of person you'd trust
02:20to help children recover from terrible experiences.
02:23In Alice Madness Returns, that respectable image falls apart in a pretty aggressive fashion.
02:28Through the twisted version of Wonderland, known as the Dollhouse,
02:31Alice uncovers the horrifying truth behind his so-called therapy.
02:35Children are represented as lifeless dolls,
02:37their memories stripped away and their personalities treated like broken toys that can simply be replaced.
02:41As the story unfolds, it becomes clear Bumby uses hypnosis to control vulnerable orphans
02:46before selling them into abusive situations.
02:49Even worse, he orchestrated the fire that killed Alice's family
02:51and has spent years trying to erase her memories,
02:54turning his institution into a factory for creating silent victims instead of helping them heal.
02:59Kind of like Nickelodeon.
03:01Hatter, I must stop this infernal train and the evil force that drives it.
03:05Aunty Ethel's Tea House at Baldur's Gate 3
03:08I want a crumb left on that plate gun.
03:11Aunty Ethel, please.
03:14One more bite and this pie is going to come back up to say hello.
03:18Aunty Ethel's Tea House in Baldur's Gate 3 looks like the perfect place to stop for a peaceful cup of
03:23tea.
03:23Cozy decorations, a friendly old lady and a warm welcome make it seem harmless enough.
03:28But it's BG3, this is obviously a setup.
03:31Beneath the pleasant little cottage lies a twisted underground lair
03:34where Ethel, who is secretly a powerful hag, keeps the people she's manipulated and cursed.
03:39Victims are transformed, imprisoned or forced to relive endless misery
03:43after accepting one of her seemingly generous bargains.
03:46The deeper you explore, the more disturbing the truth becomes
03:48with every room revealing another life that has been ruined.
03:51It's a brilliant reminder that in Baldur's Gate 3,
03:53the biggest monsters are sometimes the littlest, oldest ladies.
03:56Has that wriggler eaten your brain already?
04:01Leave.
04:02Oh, you'll end up in tonight's stew.
04:05Lakeview Hotel Silent Hill 2
04:12Throughout most of Silent Hill 2,
04:14James clings to the hope that the Lakeview Hotel
04:16will somehow reconnect him with the happier life he shared with Mary.
04:20Got him, it doesn't.
04:22Room 312 completely shatters that fantasy.
04:25Watching an old videotape forces James and the player
04:28to face the truth he's buried for so long.
04:30Mary didn't simply pass away on her own.
04:33James ended her life by suffocating her with a pillow
04:35while she was bedridden,
04:37then convinced himself of a different version of events to escape the guilt.
04:40Once the truth comes out, the hotel transforms to a damp, rotting shell.
04:44It was never a place of comfort at all.
04:46It was no hotel.
04:47It was a motel.
04:48Oh, I'm kidding.
04:50It was where he brutally euthanized his wife.
04:52Moving on.
04:57The Polyhedron Pathologic
05:01The Polyhedron in Pathologic looks like something pulled straight from a dream.
05:05Towering above the town on Gorkon,
05:07it somehow defies gravity while remaining untouched
05:10by the deadly sand plague spreading below.
05:12To the children living inside,
05:14it's a safe haven and a genuine miracle.
05:16The problem is that it's on this list.
05:18Strap in.
05:19As the Harrah Specs uncovers the truth,
05:22it becomes clear the impossible structure is anchored
05:24by a massive spike driven into the living earth itself,
05:28leaving behind a terrible wound.
05:30Many believe this violation awakened the plague devastating the region.
05:33Suddenly, the magnificent tower doesn't seem so magical anymore.
05:37Preserving it could doom the town,
05:38while destroying it may be the only way to save the people who call the place home.
05:41Catch-22.
05:47Cainhurst Castle Bloodborne
05:58For months after Bloodborne launched,
06:01plenty of players had no idea Cainhurst Castle even existed.
06:04Reaching it requires collecting a hidden invitation,
06:07traveling to a seemingly ordinary monument,
06:08and waiting for a ghostly carriage to appear out of nowhere.
06:11Normal soul stuff.
06:13It's one of From Software's best hidden locations,
06:15and the mystery only grows once you finally arrive.
06:18Rather than finding a noble royal estate,
06:20you're greeted by a castle soaked in blood,
06:23and crawling with grotesque servants.
06:25Digging into the lore reveals the vile bloods were slaughtered by the executioners
06:29after experimenting with corrupted blood in pursuit of power and immortality.
06:32Queen Annalise is all that remains of the cursed bloodline,
06:35and fun fact, me and my brothers called her Queen Anal Beast.
06:38There's no reason I tell you guys that other than it makes me laugh.
06:48Pokemon Mansion Pokemon Red and Blue
06:54The abandoned Pokemon Mansion in Cinnabar Island initially feels like just another dungeon
06:58packed with locked doors, strange switches,
07:01and the occasional scientist you probably should have picked a safer career.
07:03Spend a little time reading the journals left behind though,
07:06and the building tells a much darker story.
07:08The facility was once home to secret experiments involving the mythical Pokemon Mew,
07:13with researchers attempting to create an even more powerful life form through genetic engineering.
07:18Their excitement quickly turns into panic,
07:20as Mewtwo grows far beyond their control.
07:23By the time the player arrive in Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue or Pokemon Yellow,
07:26the lab has been left in ruins and its greatest creation hasn't vanished,
07:30leaving behind the unsettling evidence of a scientific experiment that went wrong.
07:36I've had a lot of coffee today.
07:42Beacon Mental Hospital, The Evil Within.
07:44Junior Detective Kitten.
07:46Any thoughts?
07:48Nothing yet.
07:50I'm sure we'll know everything as we get there.
07:53Sebastian Castellanus heads to Beacon Mental Hospital,
07:56expecting to investigate a gruesome crime scene.
07:58Instead, he stumbles into a nightmare that makes ordinary murder seem almost relaxing.
08:03In The Evil Within, the hospital hides a massive secret beneath its walls,
08:07the STEM system, an experimental machine designed to link human minds together.
08:11At the center of it all is Ruben Victoriano, better known as Rubix,
08:15whose brain was taken by the Mobius organization after his death and used to power the entire network.
08:20Every twisted creature collapsing corridor on an impossible location Sebastian encounters
08:25exists inside this shared consciousness rather than the real world.
08:28Beacon isn't simply a haunted hospital,
08:30it's the front door to a horrifying experiment
08:33where minds are trapped, manipulated, and consumed.
08:36Yeesh.
08:41Hey, where's Joseph?
08:43Yeah, I'm sorry, but you never came out.
08:45Arc Dragon Peak Dark Souls 3.
08:55You could finish Dark Souls 3 several times without ever setting foot in Arc Dragon Peak.
09:00The area is so well hidden that players must perform a specific gesture in an obscure location
09:05before a path mysteriously appears, leaving many fans scratching their heads for weeks after launch.
09:11I didn't, but that was only because of Instagram telling me.
09:14High above Wothric sits a forgotten kingdom where worshippers abandon everything to follow the ancient dragons,
09:19believing they could transcend humanity itself.
09:22The greatest revelation comes with the nameless king,
09:24who is heavily implied to be Gwyn's firstborn son.
09:27Banished from history for siding with the dragons instead of his own family,
09:31he became a living reminder that even the gods were willing to erase
09:33anyone who challenged their version of the truth.
09:42Aperture Science Portal
09:44Hello, and again, welcome to the Aperture Science Computer Aided Admission Center.
09:50I had to mention Aperture Science, but it's such an obvious choice,
09:54I'm placing it smack bang in the middle of this list.
09:56At first, Portal feels oddly cheerful.
10:00GLaDOS cracks jokes, the test chambers are spotless,
10:02and the facility seems to run like a well-oiled machine.
10:05The only strange thing is that nobody else is around.
10:08As Shell escapes the testing course and starts crawling through the hidden maintenance areas,
10:13the illusion quickly falls apart.
10:15Dusty offices, abandoned workspaces, and messages scrawled on the walls
10:19reveal that something went catastrophically wrong long before the game began.
10:23The reason becomes horrifyingly clear during the finale.
10:27GLaDOS didn't outlive the Aperture Science employees by chance.
10:30She murdered them, flooding the facility with deadly neurotoxin.
10:34Suddenly, every sarcastic comment and upbeat instruction
10:36comes from the AI responsible for wiping out almost everyone who ever worked there.
10:41That's our future, people.
10:42Oh, I'm kidding.
10:44I got the little neurotoxin.
10:45Mt. Massive Asylum Outlast
10:57By the time Miles sneaks into Mt. Massive Asylum in Outlast,
11:01the place looks like complete chaos.
11:03Blood covers the walls, patients roam the halls,
11:06and it seems like the inmates simply snapped one day.
11:09The truth is far more disturbing.
11:11Murkoff Corporation reopened the asylum not to treat people,
11:14but to turn them into test subjects for the secretive Project Wall Rider.
11:18Who'd have seen that coming?
11:19Through horrific experiments involving the morphogenic engine,
11:22patients were pushed to unimaginable psychological extremes
11:25in the hope they could control a deadly swarm of nanomachines.
11:28Their suffering wasn't an accident or failed treatment.
11:31It was the entire objective.
11:34Get them out!
11:36The Moore Little Nightmares
11:44The Moore in Little Nightmares presents itself as a bizarre floating restaurant
11:47where impossibly wealthy guests gather to eat until they can barely move.
11:52Wander away from the banquet tables, however,
11:53and the truth becomes far more unsettling.
11:55Hidden below decks are cages full of children,
11:58enormous kitchens processing endless piles of meat,
12:01and conveyor hooks carrying suspiciously wrapped bodies throughout the facility.
12:05The game never outright tells you exactly what's on the menu,
12:07which somehow makes the mystery even creepier.
12:10Secrets of the Moore twists the knife further
12:12by revealing the runaway kid is transformed into a gnome,
12:15only for Six to unknowingly eat him later.
12:18Suddenly, the Moore isn't just exploiting children,
12:20it consumes their innocence, their lives, and perhaps even their bodies.
12:31Safehouse Gamma Starfield
12:38Space is supposed to be exciting in Starfield,
12:41but every now and then the game decides you'd probably enjoy a panic attack instead.
12:44One of the best examples is the hidden outpost known as Gamma on Ondromus 2,
12:49a planet already famous for being dark, hostile, and packed with deadly wildlife.
12:52The facility appears deserted until you step inside
12:55and hear a constant thunderous pounding echoing through the walls.
12:59Notes scattered around explain the strange noise
13:02isn't a malfunction, it's deliberately keeping something contained.
13:05Naturally, there's a room full of tempting loot
13:07sitting right beside the controls.
13:09Turn the generator off and you instantly regret your life choices
13:12as a gigantic terramorph tears through the corridor towards you,
13:16transforming a simple treasure hunt into a simple nightmare.
13:28Crookback Bog, The Witcher 3, Wild Hunt.
13:31Not allowed in here.
13:32I just want to talk to the boy.
13:34Not allowed.
13:35It's not allowed.
13:37He won't talk to you anyway.
13:39Gran don't like you.
13:41And Johnny's made up.
13:44And Stranger Steel, kids.
13:46Crookback Bog looks miserable enough,
13:49and that's before you even learn its biggest secret.
13:51The real horror waits in the seemingly harmless orphanage
13:55watched over by the mysterious crones of Crookback Bog.
13:58To the villagers, the three witches are strange protectors
14:01who keep the region alive.
14:03In reality, they demand horrifying sacrifices in return for their kindness,
14:07feeding on children and manipulating desperate people into doing their bidding.
14:10Every favour comes with a gruesome price,
14:12and the deeper Geralt digs into the bog's history,
14:15the clearer it becomes that the crones have built their power on fear,
14:18lies, and generations of chewing kids.
14:20Follow you?
14:24No choice, I guess.
14:26Statue of Happiness, Grand Theft Auto 4.
14:35Compared to games like GTA 5 and RDR 2,
14:38Grand Theft Auto 4 keeps its supernatural moments to a minimum.
14:41Apart from Roman's obsession with chasing orbs,
14:43there's not much supernatural.
14:45I'm worried that very loose joke about bowling isn't going to land.
14:48It's about bowling, guys.
14:49Anyways, Liberty City's Statue of Happiness appears to be nothing more
14:52than the game's tongue-in-cheek version of the Statue of Liberty,
14:55standing proudly on Happiness Island.
14:57Most players never think twice about it until they climb inside.
15:01Instead of finding an empty structure,
15:03they're greeted by an unmistakable sound of a beating heart.
15:06Hanging from the ceiling by enormous chains
15:08is a gigantic living heart,
15:10still pulsing away inside the statue.
15:12The game never explains what it is or why it's there,
15:16but it's a secret hidden inside a location.
15:18So enjoy being on my list, you freaky stone b***h.
15:37Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil might be the biggest example of what the heck is going on here
15:42in gaming's early days.
15:44The elegant halls and lavish rooms are all part of the illusion.
15:47Hidden beneath the estate lies Umbrella's secret Arklay Laboratory,
15:50where some of the company's earliest biological weapon experiments took place
15:53far away from curious eyes.
15:55Even the mansion's bizarre puzzles, hidden doors,
15:58and elaborate traps weren't built for entertainment.
16:00They existed to protect the research below.
16:03The tragedy extends to architect George Trevor,
16:06who was imprisoned after finishing the mansion,
16:08while his wife and daughter suffered horrific experiments of their own.
16:11By the time S.T.A.R.S. arrives,
16:13the cover-up has already fallen apart, exposing one of Umbrella's darkest secrets.
16:21Ocean House Hotel Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
16:31The Ocean House Hotel in Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines earns its reputation
16:36long before you discover why it's haunted.
16:38Simply walking through the building is enough to make you question every creak
16:42in every flickering light.
16:44Furniture launches itself across rooms, doors slam in your face,
16:47and the hotel seems determined to convince you to turn around while you still can.
16:51I wonder if there's a dark secret.
16:53Guys, there is.
16:54As you dig through newspaper clippings and old journals,
16:56the horrifying truth slowly comes together.
16:59The hotel's owner caught his wife having an affair,
17:02murdered the pair, killed his own children,
17:03then had set the entire building on fire.
17:04Why do scorned men always kill their wives and kids?
17:08Is there a memo I missed?
17:18Hacked Dirt, The Elder Scrolls 4, Oblivion.
17:21Let me give you some advice, stranger.
17:24Leave.
17:25Now.
17:25You ain't welcome here.
17:27After wandering across the map in The Elder Scrolls 4, Oblivion,
17:30you get used to villagers being a welcome break from fighting monsters
17:33and getting hopelessly distracted by side quests.
17:36Then you arrive in Hacked Dirt, and that feeling disappears almost immediately.
17:40The locals avoid outsiders, the atmosphere is painfully awkward,
17:43and something about the place just feels off.
17:46Keep investigating, especially during the quest A Shadow Over Hacked Dirt,
17:49and the villagers' horrifying secret comes to light.
17:52Beneath the settlement lives a fanatical cult devoted to the mysterious Deep Ones,
17:56with many residents revealed to be twisted fish-human hybrids
18:00who kidnap innocent people as sacrifices.
18:02Inspired by HP Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth,
18:05Hacked Dirt hides one of the creepiest stories in the entire game,
18:08and still gives me the heebie-jeebies.
18:15Vault 11 Fallout New Vegas
18:22It was hard to pick one vault.
18:25I basically closed my eyes and pointed, and I was stoked I got Vault 11.
18:30Vault 11 in Fallout New Vegas doesn't seem especially unusual when you first step inside.
18:35There are campaign posters on the walls, voting booths scattered around,
18:38and signs that residents took elections very, very seriously.
18:42The reason behind all of it is far more horrifying than you'd expect.
18:46Audio logs reveal the inhabitants believed they had to sacrifice one person every year,
18:51convinced Vault-Tec would kill everyone if they refused.
18:54Fear quickly took over, turning elections into ruthless popularity contests
18:58filled with betrayal, intimidation, and political backstabbing.
19:01The cruelest twist comes at the very end.
19:04Vault-Tec never intended to punish anyone for refusing to participate.
19:08If the residents had simply stood together and said no,
19:11the experiment would have ended,
19:13sparing countless, completely unnecessary deaths.
19:16Kissed your steady girl for the first time under the bleachers at the big game.
19:21Or when you snuck out after curfew to catch that new flick
19:24that your parents wouldn't let you see because it was too scary.
