00:00This is my first time contested in Tiram.
00:01Because I come from a mixed family, actually.
00:04My dad is Chinese and then my mom is Malay.
00:06So since I was a kid, my parents sent all of us, the siblings, to Chinese school.
00:12So you are from Johor?
00:14I am from Johor, from Wah.
00:15Pakatan Harapan's candidate for Tiram, Norzulailah Abdul Ghani,
00:20intends to rely on her rich Chinese-Malay background
00:23to connect meaningfully with voters
00:25as she campaigns for the July 11th Johor state election.
00:29Speaking to FMT after a walkabout,
00:32the first-time candidate attributes her fluency in Mandarin
00:35to her Chinese school background.
00:38She also said her mixed heritage has helped her
00:41connect with the constituency's diverse communities.
00:44On the campaign trail, the former Kajang Municipal Councillor
00:47has been encouraged by the positive feedback received from voters
00:51since being announced as DAP's candidate for the Johor state election.
00:56Norzulailah said she prefers to let her eight years of service
01:00as a counsellor speak for itself,
01:03despite criticism on social media over her decision to join DAP.
01:08She said she brings a three-pronged proposal
01:11known as Tiram Sejatra,
01:13which she believes will benefit her constituents.
01:16For me, I just launched a tawaran untuk tiram.
01:20So in this tawaran, basically there's three things,
01:23three major things that I'm going to push.
01:25The first one is Tiram Lestari,
01:28in which this is more on environmental education
01:31for the kids to bring them outside from their classroom,
01:34from the normal and then the second one is Tiram Prihatin,
01:40in which Tiram Prihatin for me myself as a mother for two kids
01:44and then memang I understand the challenges facing
01:48but especially for those young mother
01:50and then for under Tiram Prihatin,
01:52we are trying to promote and then to help the young family
01:57and then the third one is Tiram Makmur.
02:00Tiram Makmur, because I always say that
02:05we cannot tolak pembangunan,
02:07we cannot tolak any development.
02:09The Four Cornered Contest also features
02:11Barisan Nasional's Abdul Halim Sulaiman,
02:14Perikatan Nasional's Kirul Muntanazzar Ismail
02:17and Bersama's Harif Fakruddin Abdul Malik.
02:21Panyujur, FMT.
