00:08The Selangor Islamic Religious Council said the decision was aimed at preserving mosques as the primary centres of worship for

00:18MAIS Chairman Salahuddin Saiden said allowing suraus in shopping malls to host Friday prayers would reduce attendance at mosques and
00:26suraus in the state.
00:27He said the Sultan's decree aligns with Islamic teachings and reinforces mosques as centres for worship, education and propagation.
00:37Salahuddin said 448 mosques and 379 suraus have been authorised to conduct Friday prayers, many of which are in convenient
00:47and accessible locations.
00:49However, he said one surau in a shopping mall has been granted temporary approval to conduct the weekly prayer due
00:56to the absence of a nearby mosque.
00:59That approval will be withdrawn once a mosque is built in the area.
