00:07so hello my friends I hope you're all doing well and welcome to another video
00:14another review video I should say so I was sent this camera by a company called Garda Pro
00:21trail camera and it is the e8 2.0 it's a bit of a beast of a camera I have
00:32to say and also a massive
00:37solar panel to keep it charged up so we're gonna set it up here on this trail which I think
00:49is
00:49probably used by jackals maybe badgers and foxes as well set it up on the tree here looking down
00:57this way towards the woodland the main part of the woodland this is a slightly lighter part of the
01:04woodland so I thought I'd set it up here give the solar panel a chance to get some light to
01:09power
01:09the camera so yeah the camera it is there's a cellular version of this one as well this one
01:19is not that this is a Wi-Fi version and it has an app the company has produced their own
01:28app to link to
01:31the camera and be able to view download do all your settings the beauty with this camera is that it
01:39has
01:40an inbuilt 7800 mAh lithium battery so no double A's to mess around with which will be powered by the
01:54solar panel
01:55the the setup is very similar to most cameras and when I come to collect it I'll do a screen
02:06record of the
02:08through the app and walk you through the both the setup and the viewing of the images so we'll get
02:16this on the tree set the solar panel up as well to power it and see how we go it's
02:24on about 60% battery at the minute
02:29so it'll be interesting after a couple of weeks to see what the power is that if this is kept
02:34it charged up or even if it's completely filled the battery to 100% we'll have a look and see
02:42what that's about so yeah let me set this up and I'll get back to you in a sec
03:08comes with its own mountain bracket as well which I won't use I don't think at the minute unless I
03:16have no choice
03:21too many mozes does it have a mounting point okay so it doesn't have a tripod mounting point on the
03:34actual body you can see it's quite a large panel which means I have to use
03:44the mounting bracket it comes with which means screwing it into the tree
04:18okay so the shell panel is mounted a little bit higher up where it can see a little bit more
04:28light
04:33this has to be one of the most uncomfortable setups I've done with the mozzies here I'm being absolutely eaten
04:39alive
04:41okay let me just open up the app and connect
04:57and it's one of the things I like about the cameras that you can actually view via the phone Wi
05:05-Fi because you can actually angle the camera with a live view
05:09the live view to make sure you're getting the the shot that you want
05:20okay so that's connected and let me see now the framing that I want
05:32I want to look down the crack over there
06:03That should do it.
06:12OK, so I just set the camera going and we'll be back in a week or two to check on
06:24it and
06:24see if it's got recorded anything.
06:27OK, I'll catch up with you then.
06:31I went and recovered the camera, I decided to bring it home to do this part of the video
06:37rather than in the field as I was getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes there.
06:43It's just been out a week and in that time has 51 videos on it of wild boar, jackal, badger,
06:55beach martin, that sort of thing, which is awesome.
06:58It's good to see all the wildlife is out there.
07:03Camera did really well, really robust.
07:07It survived three storms in the last week, electrical thunderstorms, without any signs of wear.
07:17No leaking or anything like that, so that's awesome.
07:22The other awesome thing was the battery.
07:25The solar panel charged it to 100%.
07:28If you remember when I put it out, it was at 60, so the solar panel did its job even
07:34being
07:35in a woodland, which is very cool and it means that you can reliably leave this out for long-term
07:43monitoring of an area if that's the kind of thing that you do and not worry about batteries.
07:50The only thing you'd have to do is make sure you have a big enough SD card in there for
07:56all
07:57the images and recordings that you're going to have.
08:01In terms of the quality, very happy with the videos, they look great.
08:10The only slight annoyance, if you like, was the fact that the solar panel doesn't have
08:19a 3.8 inch screw mount to be able to use alternate methods of mounting rather than having to screw
08:30it into the tree the whole time with screws.
08:34The only slight negative thing to do with the solar panel.
08:40I'll connect up to the app and talk you through that as well, so let me just do that.
08:47I'll just get the screen record going and open up the GardaPro mobile app.
08:56And the first thing that you'll see is like a status screen, I guess.
09:07Initially, when you first hook it up to the camera, you'll need to hit the plus sign at
09:13the top right and then choose which of the cameras that you're connecting, either Wi-Fi or
09:19the cellular.
09:20This one, like I said, is just the Wi-Fi, not the cellular version.
09:26So just tap on the camera and then you'll see the orange bar at the top, GardaPro E8, if
09:34you tap on that and then hit connect.
09:37So we'll just wait for that connection to happen, probably have to put my password in as well.
09:54Takes a moment to actually make the connection.
09:58OK, enter password.
10:03OK, and there is the bar at the top, you'll see has gone green now, so that means it's connected.
10:12And the first screen is the status of the camera.
10:16And this is where you can see the battery, SD card, temperature, etc., all the camera details.
10:23If you look at the bottom right of the screen where it says settings, if you tap on that,
10:27in this screen you can actually set all the settings of the camera that you want, basically.
10:36So camera name, password, etc., mode is either motion detection or time-lapse.
10:44Choose language, choose which mode you want it to be in, photo, video or both.
10:51Select your video quality, photo quality from there.
10:55So if I switch to photo, it changes to photo quality and you can choose the size of the image
11:11that you want.
11:12And I usually just leave it on video there and have it set to 4K.
11:18Set your video length for day and night, sound, volume, the video format.
11:27You can choose between MP4 and MOV.
11:31You can set all your delays and sensitivities below that.
11:36Select operational hours.
11:40At the moment the power source says battery, it's not connected to the solar panel.
11:52All your date information, however you want to set that up, depending where you are in
11:56the world.
11:58Degrees centigrade, I choose rather than Fahrenheit, etc.
12:02And format the SD card, which I won't do just now because I've got some images on there
12:07that I want to show you.
12:08So that's the settings, basically, which is very cool to be able to set it remotely rather
12:13than having to go through the menu system on the camera itself.
12:18Okay, bottom right, gallery.
12:20And this is where you can see all the images that the camera has recorded.
12:30So you just tap on one of the images and it will play.
12:33You can flip it over and it will play it in landscape so you get a bigger picture.
12:41And you can just scroll through them and download them as you like as well to your phones.
12:51And format the SD card if you want.
12:53If you download the images, format the card and let it run again without actually having
12:58to go near the camera itself.
13:00You can do it from a few meters away without disturbing the location.
13:06And then over on the bottom left there it says live.
13:09If you click that it shows you the live screen which means that you can compose your shot using
13:20this which is a feature I really like, really useful, making sure that you're getting the
13:25coverage that you want.
13:28And I think that's pretty much it.
13:32Oh, there's also on the first screen where you can see the list of cameras that you have.
13:40I only have the one camera, the Guard Pro E8.
13:45But there's also a maps feature which allows you to have a look at the area.
13:52And I think it might even indicate where the camera is on that map.
14:01So yeah, very cool little camera, very cool app, really like how it works and really happy
14:09to recommend it to you.
14:11I'm going to put links to the camera, affiliate links in the description below.
14:18There is a discount attached for you.
14:20I can't remember what it is, I'll write it across here somewhere.
14:25If you do order, it being an affiliate link I also do get a few pennies but it makes no
14:31difference to the price that you actually pay.
14:34So yeah, I hope you found this useful, interesting and do take a look at this camera.
14:41Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you all again soon, bye for now.
