00:00So hello my friends, I hope you're all doing well, and welcome to another video, where today I'm going to
00:10be setting out some trail cams, one of which is a new one, from the same company that sent me
00:18the little solar camera, and they sent me this one as well, to review.
00:25And it's pretty similar specs on this one, the main difference being that the solar panel on this one is
00:35separate to the actual trail cam, which means you can mount it in a slightly better position as regards to
00:45the sun in relation to the camera.
00:48So the camera might be pointing into a darker area, a wooded area for example, and you can have the
00:57solar panel facing in a different direction, so that it gets more light and provides more power to the camera.
01:09So we're going to test that one out, I'm really happy with the other one, mostly the ability to connect
01:20with wifi, and view whatever it's taken from a distance, and download the pictures, and you can clear the card,
01:31and start again.
01:33And that is a game-changing thing, because it means you can just leave the camera in place without disturbing
01:43the location, and adding more scent to it, or what have you.
01:49It's a really good thing, and I think this one will be the same.
01:52This one I think, because the little solar panel is separate, it might be more of a faff to actually
02:02mount it, which means it's probably more suited for a location where you're going to leave the camera up for
02:11a very long time, and visit occasionally, to download images and video, what have you.
02:20Okay, I shall see you again, at the location where I'm going to set the camera up, I'll talk with
02:28you in a bit.
02:58Okay, so I've gotten to the location, the good news is that it has become so overgrown that nobody else
03:08is coming through, what I just had to basically crawl through to get here.
03:14So this is the location, so this is the location that last year I recorded the wolf, I recorded red
03:24deer, martin, and otter, at this little spot here.
03:30So you can see the path along here, that the jackals and other creatures have been using, and the otters
03:40came out of this little bit of the pond here.
03:44So what I'm going to do is set the camera up here, to overlook this spot, and as you can
03:50see there's a little bit of shadow,
03:51but I can put the solar panel a little bit higher up on the tree behind me here, to make
03:56sure it's catching the light and charging.
03:59I haven't put any battery, extra batteries in, so I'm just going to rely on the solar and see how
04:04it does.
04:05Okay, let me do that, and then I'll show you it when I'm done.
04:09Okay, so I've mounted the camera on the tree, and the cable goes up to the solar panel, which I'll
04:16show you in just a second here, which I've angled towards the sun.
04:20And it connects to the same app as the previous solar camera that I showed you.
04:27The menu system on here is exactly the same, very, very intuitive to use, but the best way to actually
04:34change all the settings is through the app.
04:37And I'm doing a screen recording.
04:39The other thing, to show you all that, the other thing I really like about it is being able to
04:44connect with Wi-Fi like this,
04:47is the ability to actually frame your composition by seeing the picture that it's producing on the app.
04:59So I can actually make that larger.
05:02And I can actually now position the camera so that it records exactly the composition that I'm after, rather than
05:11having to guess it.
05:13So I can position that to cover the trail, and the water.
05:20Let's just check and see if it's getting out of the way, if that's what it's doing.
05:24Great.
05:26So I've got in the left of frame the track, where I'm hoping the jackals and badgers, Martin, anything else
05:38might come along.
05:38And I've also got the pond where the otters came out of the water covered, composed exactly as I wanted.
05:48And then, again, through the app, as in the other one, just by clicking on the settings button, you can
05:54change all the various settings for the type of mode you want it to work in,
06:01if you want photo or video, the length of time you want it to record, et cetera, et cetera.
06:07You can format the memory card, you can have a look at the gallery, which has got nothing on it
06:13at the minute, and you can view and download those images.
06:18So we'll see what the recording quality is like in a few days, hopefully, when it will have, fingers crossed,
06:25captured something.
06:27So I shall be back then to show you whatever it's recorded, and we can talk more about the quality
06:34of the camera.
06:37Okay, so I'll probably set a few more cameras around this area and get back to you in a few
06:45days' time, so I shall see you then.
06:48Okay, so a few days have gone past, and I'm just heading into the location to check on the cameras,
07:00and hopefully there'll be something interesting on them.
07:05So I'm particularly curious to see the new solar camera as well, which I left without batteries, so it's just
07:17on the solar, and it was only on a couple of bars charged as well,
07:23so I'm curious to see if that has charged up nicely, and has had enough power to last through the
07:30night without adding in the extra batteries.
07:37So, bear with me, and I'll get back to you as soon as I'm near the cameras to check on.
07:46Okay, so I'm at the first camera, the new one, so we'll just log on to it, and see if

08:15Battery level is at 100%, so the solar has fully charged the built-in battery.

08:38Let's have a look at these nighttime ones first.
08:41Oh, and that's a jackal.
08:53Okay, so there's one of the jackal.
09:01I think it's a rat.
09:16That's a sparrowhawk.

09:22Has he caught something?
09:46So I think there's a few false triggers here from leaves and what have you moving around.
09:52I'll have a better look on the laptop when I get home and I'm able to scroll through them a
09:57little bit quicker.
10:02But the picture quality is lovely.
10:06Being able to review them back on the phone as well means I'm able to zoom in.
10:14I can set it to landscape and I can actually zoom in on the image as well.
10:22Which means reviewing the files is much easier on here as well.
10:29No water unfortunately, from what I can see that I was hoping for.
10:39So based on that, I think I'm really happy to recommend this camera.
10:49Happy to give it my endorsement.
10:53The picture quality is great.
10:56Ease of setting it up is great.
10:59I like the fact that the solar panel is separate to the camera which means you can position it.
11:07You don't have to worry that you're setting the camera in a dark spot.
11:12You can actually angle the solar panel to a position where it will gather more light.
11:19So that's a really cool thing.
11:21It is slightly more involved in terms of setting it up.
11:24Which probably means it's worth setting it up in an area where you're going to
11:29leave it up for a length of time.
11:32A good length of time that is.
11:35And it comes with all the usual bits.
11:37It comes with a 32 gig SD card, a strap and also all the mounting bits if you want to
11:47screw it.
11:48It's got little mounting plates both for the camera and the solar panel.
11:55So yeah, I'll leave a link to this one in the description below if you're interested in
12:01having a look at that.
12:02It's very reasonably priced too.
12:05And I'll also leave a link to the other solar camera that I reviewed last time
12:11where the solar panel is actually built onto the camera itself.
