00:00I'm not a WNBA guy. I don't watch it. I can only name maybe three or four of the gals
00:05that are in it.
00:06I don't dismiss the fact that they're wildly talented for women, playing basketball at a professional level.
00:12Good for them. I don't begrudge them anything they've achieved in this world.
00:16If they can make tens of millions of dollars, good for them.
00:19What I do begrudge, though, is killing the golden goose.
00:25And the WNBA has got out of its way, and I don't quite understand why, to kill the golden goose
00:31and disrespect the one woman who may not be the greatest of all time,
00:35but certainly she's the most important women's basketball player of all time.
00:38Because without Caitlin Clark, the WNBA is never talked about, still wallows in its own misery, loses hundreds of millions
00:46of dollars, and is a non-story for everybody.
00:49Along comes Caitlin Clark, all of a sudden a renewed interest in women playing basketball, and all they've done since
00:55Jump Street is to negatively impact her importance to their league and sport,
00:59and try to minimize what she has done for all the women that play and want to play professional basketball.
01:05So, this is not a conversation about, is she the best or not?
01:09Because I know you believe she's not, and I can't speak against it because I don't know.
01:12But I've heard the argument.
01:14Here's my problem.
01:14Well, we know she wasn't MVP last year, for example.
01:17Again, I'm not going to argue you're probably right.
01:20But there's nobody more important than her in the history of professional women's basketball.
01:25She's the most famous player.
01:26And I can't understand why everyone just doesn't respect that.
01:30I'm not saying you have to kiss her ass.
01:31I'm not saying she's got to play 48 minutes tonight or whatever they play.
01:35I'm not saying that you've got to give her every award because of her name.
01:38But you have to respect the fact that buildings are sold out for the first time in WNBA history last
01:44year, two years ago,
01:45because Kaelin Clark exists.
01:48And the only reason I bring it up is on my algorithm, I see like a celebration poster.
01:54It's the 30th year, 30th anniversary, there you have it, of the WNBA.
02:00There's a lot of women that should be on that poster.
02:03And they have a lot.
02:04If you want to go back to, I mean, I remember like Lisa Leslie.
02:07I know that name from 30 years ago.
02:10She's on the poster.
02:11She should be on the poster.
02:12Dawn Staley's on the poster.
02:13Great, okay.
02:14Becky Hammond's on the poster.
02:15Great.
02:16And I have no issue with any of that.
02:18Maya Moore.
02:18But you cannot put out a promotional poster celebrating the 30 years of the WNBA
02:26and not put the woman who is singularly most responsible for the popularity
02:32and the newfound money and the newfound way of travel and hotels and all the stuff that happened
02:38post-Kaelin Clark, you know, coming in like a house on fire.
02:42And I see this dumb poster and there's no Kaelin Clark on it.
02:47And I'm saying to myself, I know I can't name half the women there.
02:51I guilty as charged.
02:53I am not a fan of it.
02:54I will never watch it.
02:56I don't care about it.
02:58But I do know who Kaelin Clark is.
03:00And I've met her.
03:01And for you to celebrate the 30 years of your sport that nobody has ever cared about
03:09until Kaelin Clark became a professional and not put her face on that poster,
03:16you're either brain dead, stupid, or you hate her.
03:21But I do know who Kaelin Clark is.
03:21All right.
