00:00You and I talked about this the last time we got a chance to chat.

00:03We talked, and I'm going to be very careful about my term here.

00:05I'm not going to use the word ace,

00:07but do you believe the Mets are more likely, John,

00:10to trade for a front-end starter or sign one in free agency?

00:14Which of the two do you think is more likely for this team?

00:17I'm going to say trade.

00:18At this point, they don't seem to be at the forefront at E-Mine.

00:21They are in. They're in on everything.

00:23So, you know, to judge exactly how far in they are,

00:26it's a little difficult at this point.

00:28You know, there have been reports out there about Frambo Valdez.

00:31I'm not sure how invested they are in that one as well.

00:34So, I mean, those are the two aces that are out there, right?

00:37I would say Ranger Suarez is a very good pitcher, free agent pitcher.

00:42Is he a number one? Probably not.

00:44But he's been outstanding in October.

00:46It certainly would be a good pickup for the Mets.

00:49I don't think they're leading that one either.

00:50So that's why I'm going at trade more likely.

00:54You know, obviously, there have been some big names that are kind of floated out there.

01:00Is Skubal getting traded?

01:01Now, that would be obviously an ace.

01:02Probably the best pitcher in baseball.

01:04Certainly the best pitcher in the American League.

01:06A one-year thing.

01:08So, you know, to me, it's hard for me to see the Mets really mortgage their future for a one-year pitcher.

01:14Even somebody as good as Skubal.

01:16So I wouldn't say that one's particularly likely.

01:18But there are several trade candidates out there.

01:21They're familiar with Freddy Peralta.

01:23Certainly Stearns had him in Milwaukee.

01:26There is a decent chance, I think, that he will be dealt.

01:29Better chance for him to be dealt than Skubal.

01:31So that's a possibility.

01:32I think Gore from Washington will be dealt somewhere.

01:36I heard that Cabrera's name is out there from the Marlins.

01:40And I understand these are division rivals.

01:42But, you know, I'm not ruling it out.

01:44I do think that there is a potential for a trade for a very good starting pitcher.

01:51I would say even more so than through free agency.

01:54Than through free agency.
