00:54You think about Pat Riley in the past,
00:56Pat Riley with Shaq and Pat Riley with Alonzo Mourning
01:00and Pat Riley with LeBron James and Chris Bosh
01:04and to a lesser extent, but he did steal Jimmy Butler
01:07from Philadelphia.
01:09Pat Riley always craves stars.
01:12And when we're talking about Miami,
01:14we're talking about having, at the end of the day,
01:18someone who is a calling card.
01:20We're having someone who's a face of the league.
01:22We're having someone shiny and dominant and pretty
01:25for all the celebs and the beachgoers
01:28to stay away from the beach and go inside
01:31and watch the Miami Heat play basketball.
01:34Miami is a terrific sports town,
01:36but you need that kind of calling card
01:40at the end of the day to dangle here
01:43in terms of getting the fans invested.
01:46And Giannis Antetokounmpo is still a megastar.
01:50He is still the Greek freak.
01:52This is a massive win for the Miami Heats.
01:57However, it does not make them a championship contender.
02:02And if you think that's the case,
02:04you're just not paying attention.
02:06And I want to stress, I love Giannis Antetokounmpo.
02:10I believe in heat culture.
02:12I think Eric Spolstra is unbelievable.
02:14I think Pat Riley is unbelievable.
02:16Giannis could be the best player in the NBA

02:23that when you start talking about the best in the business,
02:26we're talking about the Greek freak with this resume.
02:30We are talking about a champion, a two-time NBA MVP.

02:37in terms of defense, in terms of offense.

02:41who makes everyone around him better.

03:06However, the Miami Heat right now, to me,
03:09this is team five through eight as we speak
03:13in the Eastern Conference.
03:15The Knicks are laughing.
03:17I think when it's all said and done,
03:20the Indiana Pacers are better.
03:22I firmly believe the Detroit Pistons,
03:25I assume they're going to get a shooter.
03:26They're better.
03:27I think the Cleveland Cavaliers are better.
03:30Bam Adebayo is a terrific big,
03:33no question about that.
03:34But all the players who were part of that deal,
03:38when you look at it,
03:39going to Milwaukee for Giannis Antetokounmpo,
03:42Tyler Hero and Jaquez and company,
03:45you now have to fill those needs and voids.
03:48They have no backcourt.
03:50They have no shooting.
03:51And I want to stress,
03:53because I don't want this to get lost
03:54in the court of public opinion with my take on this,
03:56this deal for Miami is a no-brainer.

04:02Phenomenal.
04:03Giannis is unbelievable.
04:04I've argued he's elite.
04:06And I want to stress it,
04:07he could easily,
04:08because we'll get his best version of Miami.
04:11Make no mistake about that.
04:13Giannis Antetokounmpo,
04:14the last couple of years,
04:15was more focused on getting out of Milwaukee
04:18than playing basketball.
04:20He was, at the end, a bad buck.
04:23Let's be crystal clear.
04:24He was more interested in messing around
04:27with the Milwaukee Bucks fans,
04:29the great fans, and the organization.
04:31He was more interested in getting out of town
04:33than being part of it.
04:35But if you're Miami,
04:37and you trade hero,
04:38and you trade Hawkins,
04:40and you trade a center,
04:42and a young guard,
04:43and you trade three first-round picks,
04:46including one tonight,
04:47you now have to look at the rest of that roster configuration.
04:51You have to be able to ultimately,
04:53at the end of the day,
04:54make sure that you fill those voids.
04:56Again, the trade is phenomenal,
04:58but the fact that the Heat are right now the,
05:01according to DraftKings,
05:03have the third-best odds to win the East,
05:05that's nonsense.
05:07Complete and utter nonsense.
05:09The Miami Heat are not ready for prime time.
05:11The Miami Heat going from 30-1
05:14to win a championship,
05:15to 18-1 after making this trade,
05:18that is amateur hour.
05:21Look, I trust that if you're a Heat fan,
05:23you absolutely believe in it.
05:24You trust Pat Riley.
05:27You trust Eric Spolstra.
05:29You understand what these guys bring to the table
05:32in terms of being the godfather of Pat Riley,
05:35legendary coach, legendary executive.
05:37I think Heat culture is not just a cute media creation
05:42or a catchphrase.
05:43It's a way of life in Miami,
05:45but this does not all of a sudden,
05:47just because of their presence,
05:49you know, turn Miami into a team
05:51that's better than the Knicks,
05:52turn Miami into a team
05:54that can go win a championship.
05:56Putting them in terms of a legit title contender
05:59today as we speak,
06:01that's not the right take.
06:03Credit Riley, credit Spolstra for going out,
06:06putting together a package
06:07that got them the biggest available fish.
06:10They won the Giannis Antetokopo sweepstakes
06:13and they deserve a lot of credit for that.
06:14But in no way, shape, or form at the end of the day
06:17does this make the Miami Heat a title contender.

06:28made a good trade.
06:29You know, you have to remember a couple of things here.

06:33They had to trade the best player in franchise history.

06:37before Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,
06:39but when you consider,
06:40and we just showed it before,
06:41the Giannis resume,
06:42listen, he's the best player in history.
06:44And now you get Hiro,
06:46who's a Wisconsin native.
06:48Ware is absolutely terrific,
06:49and he's absolutely tremendous
06:52as a big who can defend.
06:54I love the guy who they brought in from Illinois,
06:57the 20th pick.
06:58I thought that Kasperis was a heck of a player

07:03and I think he can certainly help the Milwaukee Bucks.

09:30But now they have to trade Jalen Brown.

15:47goes to the Chicago Bulls.
15:49They're the third team
15:50in this deal.
15:51Goes from Brooklyn
15:52to Chicago.
15:54And Minnesota gets
15:56a second-round pick

16:03on a lot of different levels.
16:04I feel compelled
16:05to start with this.

16:17told you this two years ago,
16:18that that was not only
16:20a phenomenal championship move
16:21for the Knicks,
16:22but it made no sense
16:23for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
16:25I always respect
16:27Julius Randle,
16:28his game,
16:28who he is,
16:29his toughness,
16:30what he brings to the table.
16:31I'll say it again.
16:32You can't win
16:33a championship with him.
16:35He is not
16:35a championship ball player.
16:37So, Minnesota believing that
16:40was insane.
16:41It was crazy.
16:43I was struggling
16:44to find the team
16:45that can take Randle
16:46from the Knicks.
16:47I said,
16:47there's one player
16:48on the planet I wanted
16:49and that was
16:49Carl Anthony Towns.
16:50I didn't think Minnesota
16:52was dumb enough to do it.
16:54Knicks sold high
16:55on Dante DiVincenzo.

17:36had a really strong

17:39is, you know,
17:40he needs more, right?

17:46for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
17:48I'm sure they're going
17:49to be very active

17:52So, for Minnesota,
17:53this makes all the sense

18:19and with the draft tonight,
18:21and if the Nets pass
