00:00Officials from the United Nations and International Aid Agencies gathered in Geneva on Monday
00:06to discuss increasing trends of heat waves in Europe, an intense Ebola outbreak in Africa
00:12and an anticipated food crisis driven by weather events such as El Nino.
00:17As reported by the Minister of Health, as of yesterday there are 1,048 confirmed cases
00:24reported of which 267 deaths is the largest number of confirmed cases in the first month
00:31of an Ebola disease outbreak in Africa.
00:35It took 78 days to reach 250 deaths during the 2014 and 2016 West Africa outbreak.
00:47In the previous outbreak, 2018-19, it took 130 days, but before this outbreak it only took 37 days,
00:54just portraying the scale, the scope and the intensity of transmission.
00:59Extreme weather events are anticipated to worse in the next coming months
01:03as a hunger and malnutrition in at least 22 countries.
01:07We are anticipating what could become a strong El Nino event,
01:11one that is expected to affect millions of people across multiple regions
01:18through droughts, floods and storms.
01:21But what makes this moment particularly alarming is that this El Nino effect is not happening in isolation.
01:30Across many of the countries we are focusing on,
01:35people are already facing record levels of hunger,
01:39driven by conflict, economic shocks and repeated climate extremes.
01:45To cope with this, the World Food Programme is aiming to fundraise 202 million dollars
01:50to protect 8.8 million people living across vulnerable communities.
01:53audited by data for countries please.
01:56Hi, everybody.
01:57I want to encourage you to respond to the organization
