00:00Holding photographs of their sons who vanished during the war, mothers in Gaza wait for answers.
00:08Thousands of people are still missing across the territory, with many lost beneath the
00:13rubble of destroyed buildings.
00:16Families' last hope is often that their relative has been detained by Israeli authorities.
00:24Every now and then, whenever a prisoner was released, we would ask, did you see my son?
00:29Did you hear his name?
00:30Some said they had heard his name but had not seen him.
00:34Others said they had seen him.
00:37Between those who said they saw him and those who only heard his name, we remain in limbo.
00:45When I see someone come out safely and their family welcome and embrace them, tears flow
00:50from my eyes.
00:52I sit and cry and say, God, may the day come when he returns, and we experience the same
00:58joy they are experiencing.
01:05Recovering the bodies of those trapped under the rubble is hampered by a lack of heavy equipment,
01:11and by the risks posed by unexploded ordnance.
01:14As time passes, it also becomes increasingly difficult to identify the victims.
01:22This year, our situation has begun to stabilise, and we have started making significant efforts
01:28to trace unidentified people.
01:31However, in the Gaza Strip, unfortunately, we do not have DNA testing, which is the main
01:37method used around the world for identification.
01:40Clothing is not enough, and personal belongings found with the bodies are not enough, because
01:46we receive many bodies as cadaver.
01:49And the killing doesn't end, despite a ceasefire still in place between Israel and the Palestinian
01:56militant group Hamas.
01:58On Thursday, Gaza authorities said four people died in Israeli strikes on the territory, including
02:04two children.
02:05.
