00:10who has texted me that michigan athletic director word manual will be stepping down
00:16at the end of the calendar year oh
00:22well there you go i had wondered last week was supposed to be
00:27that meeting with the board and we were going to get something and then it was suspiciously quiet
00:33like he wasn't even really brought up at that meeting right heather you had that in the news
00:37no nothing even came up about and i'm like okay apparently he's just gonna survive this
00:44stepping down i'm assuming there's some kind of financial yeah buy out or something because he
00:51had he was his contract ran until 2030 yeah it was not been well i think it was what a
00:57year year
00:58and a half ago that he signed a new deal extension and that's why this that's why it was kind
01:02of hard
01:03to decipher because you didn't know comments that he had made comments that were reported or inferred
01:10how much of it was lobbying and leveraging to try to get the number where it needed to be for
01:15both
01:15sides to get this done but as he steps away michigan's gonna need a new ad
01:22the guy will join an athletic department that just hired a football coach
01:26and just took the interim tag off of their basketball coach
01:31although i think the jury's still out with hoops i mean if the year doesn't go well they can
01:34move on move on sure um but from the standpoint if you come in and
01:40those two programs have somebody right now right yeah you're not going to have to make
01:43any major hires and and those would be the two major hires yeah i don't know what the topic is
01:49i don't know if michigan fans have some big emotional reaction to it this kind of felt like a week

01:54like we thought we were going to be doing this last monday i think we even talked about it last

01:59the possibility that he would be fired and this is not technically a firing this is him stepping down
02:03but he's gone michigan will have a new athletic director so there you go i was actually hoping
02:11he's going to tell me the red wings had just hired a new general manager yeah i know because i

02:16thinking too i'm like well is this the dylan market news but who's there's not even anybody there to
02:21negotiate with well steve technically is still the acting general manager until they make a hire
