00:14In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
00:20We acknowledge our sins on this Feast of St. Thomas Moor and St.
00:24John Fisher, martyrs of the time of the Reformation, and we open our heart to the healing power of our
00:31God, and his healing forgiveness.
00:35Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins,
00:46and lead us into healing, and life everlasting. Amen.
00:55O God, who in martyrdom have brought true faith in its highest expression, graciously grant the strengthens through the intercession
01:05of St. John Fisher and Thomas Moor,
01:08we may confirm by the witness of our life the faith we profess with our lips.
01:14Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and
01:21ever. Amen.
01:25A reading from the first letter of St. Peter
01:28My dear people, you must not think it unaccountable that you should be tested by fire.
01:35There is nothing extraordinary in what has happened to you.
01:39If you can have some share in the sufferings of Christ, be glad, because you will enjoy a much greater
01:47gladness when his glory is revealed.
01:50It is a blessing for you when they insult you for bearing the name of Christ, because it means that
01:57you have the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, resting on you.
02:02None of you should ever deserve to suffer for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal, or an informer.
02:11But if any one of you should suffer for being a Christian, then they are not to be ashamed of
02:19it.
02:21They should thank God that they have been called one that they have been called one.
02:28The time has come for the judgment to begin at the household of God.
02:35And if what we know now is only the beginning, what will it be when it comes down to those
02:42who refuse to believe God's good news?
02:45If it is hard for a good man to be saved, what will happen to the wicked and to sinners?
02:51For even those whom God allows to suffer must trust themselves to the constancy of the Creator and go on
03:00doing good.
03:02The word of the Lord, thanks be to God.
03:06Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:11Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:16When the Lord delivered Zion from bondage, it seemed like a dream.
03:21Then was our mouth filled with laughter, on our lips there were songs.
03:26Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:31The heathens themselves said,
03:34What marvels the Lord worked for them?
03:36What marvels the Lord worked for us?
03:39Indeed we were glad.
03:41Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:45Deliver us, O Lord, from our bondage as streams in dry land.
03:50Those who are sowing in tears will sing when they reap.
03:54Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
03:59Those who go out, those who go out full of tears, carrying seed for the sowing.
04:04They come back, they come back full of song, carrying their sheaves.
04:10Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
04:14Hallelujah, hallelujah.
04:17Happy are they who suffer persecution for justice's sake.
04:21The kingdom of heaven is theirs.
04:23Hallelujah.
04:27The Lord be with you.
04:29A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
04:33Glory to you, O Lord.
04:37Jesus said to his apostles,
04:40Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.
04:44It is not peace I have come to bring, but a sword.
04:48For I have come to set a man against his father,
04:52a daughter against her mother,
04:54a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,
04:57and men's enemies will be those of his own household.
05:03Anyone who prefers father or mother to me is not worthy of me.
05:08Anyone who prefers son or daughter to me is not worthy of me.
05:13Anyone who does not take their cross and follow in my footsteps is not worthy of me.
05:19Anyone who finds their life will lose it.
05:22Anyone who loses their life for my sake will find it.
05:29The Gospel of the Lord.
05:32Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
05:39What Jesus said actually happened.
05:43We know that in our own time, in times of persecution,
05:48members of families betrayed their own families to authorities
05:53and were martyred for it, suffered for it.
05:58Today is the feast of Thomas More,
06:02a great intellectual, grand chancellor of England,
06:05who refused to accept that the king was the head of the church.
06:08He said, that's not true.
06:10The head of the church on earth is the Pope in Rome.
06:13And St. John Fisher was a bishop and did the same.
06:17He stood out where others, out of fear, gave in to the king's authority.
06:22The king was tyrannical in the way he acted.
06:26And he wanted what he wanted.
06:28He wanted to make himself head of the church
06:31because he wanted to divorce his wife and marry another.
06:36And these men said, no, we cannot accept that.
06:39We honour you as a king, but we cannot accept you as head of the church.
06:44So we're reminded that the unity of the church is very important,
06:49even in our time, of course,
06:51when the church has been able to maintain its teachings and beliefs
06:54precisely because the Holy Spirit has guided the church to unity
06:58to preserve those teachings over the centuries,
07:01that we don't end up departing and keeping part of those teachings.
07:07Also a reminder for us in our everyday life.
07:10Indeed, if we are closer we are to Christ,
07:14the more we can love people in our family, in our lives, our friends,
07:18because Christ leads us to love others more.
07:28Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
07:30for to your goodness we have this bread to offer,
07:33which your church has given human hands have made.
07:35It will become for us the bread of life.
07:38Blessed be God forever.
08:12Blessed be God forever.
08:23Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
08:25that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God our Almighty Father.
08:30May the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands
08:33with the praise and glory of God's name
08:35for our good and the good of God's Holy Church.
08:42Receive, Holy Father, the offerings we bring on the feast
08:45of the Holy Martyrs, Saint John Fisher and Thomas More,
08:50and grant that we, O servants, may be found steadfast
08:53in confessing your name through Christ our Lord. Amen.
08:58The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts.
09:03Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
09:06It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
09:10always and everywhere, to give you thanks.
09:13Lord, Holy Father Almighty and eternal God,
09:17for you are glorified when your saints are praised.
09:20Their very sufferings are but wonders of your might.
09:24In your mercy you give ardour to their faith.
09:28To their endurance you grant firm resolve.
09:32And in their struggle the victory is yours through Christ our Lord.
09:38Therefore, all creatures of heaven and earth
09:41sing a new song in adoration.
09:44And we, with all the host of angels, cry out,
09:47and without end we acclaim,
09:50Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts,
09:54heaven and earth are full of your glory.
09:58Hosanna in the highest.
10:00Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
10:05Hosanna in the highest.
10:08You are indeed holy, O Lord, the font of all holiness.
10:12Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
10:15by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
10:18so that they may become for us
10:20the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10:24At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion,
10:29he took bread,
10:30and giving thanks broke it,
10:34and gave it to his disciples,
10:38saying, Take this all of you and eat of it,
10:42for this is my body which will be given up for you.
10:52in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks
10:58he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the
11:05chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be pulled out for
11:12you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me
11:24the mystery of faith we proclaim your death of lord and professional resurrection until you come again
11:38therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread
11:44of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you've held us worthy to be in your presence
11:51and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered
11:58into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her
12:05to the fullness of charity together with leo our pope me your unworthy servant and all the clergy
12:13remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection
12:20and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face
12:27have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her
12:34spouse with blood with the blessed apostles with saint john fisher saint thomas moore and all the saints
12:43who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coerced to eternal life
12:48and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ
12:56through him and with him and in him of god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all
13:02glory and
13:03honor is yours forever and ever amen
13:09at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven
13:17hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
13:26give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
13:35and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil
13:42graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin
13:49and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for
13:57the
13:57kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ who said to your apostles

14:35Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take
14:43away the sins of the world. Grant us peace.
15:03Lord, I am not worried you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul
15:16shall be healed.
15:18My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament. I love you above
15:24all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
15:31comely, spiritually, into my heart, I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite
15:37myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
15:44Let us pray.
15:49Renew us, Lord, we pray with this food from heaven, and strengthen us by the example and
15:56prayers of your martyrs, Saints John Fisher and Thomas Moore, so that always following the
16:03voice of conscience, we may ever be good servants. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
16:11The Lord be with you. And may the peace and the blessing of the Father and of the Son and
16:17of the Holy Spirit come upon you and remain always with you. Let us go and proclaim the
16:22gospel by our lives. Thanks be to God and God bless your day.
