00:14In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:20We acknowledge our sins. We acknowledge God's compassion and love.
00:24Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
00:30May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and life everlasting.
00:37Let us pray.
00:39O God, the strength of those who hope in you, graciously hear our pleas,
00:45and since without you, mortal frailty can do nothing, grant us always the help of your grace,
00:51that in following your commands, we may please you by our resolve and our deeds.
00:56Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit, God, forever and
01:03ever. Amen.
01:05A reading from the book of Ecclesiasticus.
01:11The prophet Elijah arose like a fire, his word flaring like a torch.
01:19It was he who brought famine on them and who decimated them in his zeal.
01:25By the word of the Lord he shut up the heavens.
01:28He also three times brought down fire.
01:31How glorious you were in your miracles, Elijah.
01:36Has anyone reason to boast as you have?
01:41Rousing a corpse from death, from Sheol by the word of the Most High,
01:47dragging kings down to destruction and high dignitaries from their beds,
01:54hearing reproof on Sinai and decrees of punishment on Horeb,
02:00anointing kings as avengers and prophets to succeed you,
02:06taking up with the whirlwind of fire in a chariot with fiery horses,
02:13designated in the prophecies of doom,
02:17to alley God's wrath before the fury breaks,
02:21to turn the hearts of fathers towards their children,
02:24and to restore the tribes of Jacob.
02:28Happy shall they be who see you,
02:31and those who have fallen asleep in love,
02:34for we too will have life.
02:38Elijah was shrouded in the whirlwind,
02:42and Eliza was filled with his spirit.
02:45Throughout his life no ruler could shake him,
02:48no one could subdue him,
02:51no task was too hard for him,
02:54and even in death his body prophesied.
02:58In his lifetime he performed wonders,
03:02and in death his works were marvellous.
03:07The word of the Lord.
03:10Thanks be to God.
03:13Let the just rejoice in the Lord.
03:15Let the just rejoice in the Lord.
03:19The Lord is King, let earth rejoice.
03:22The many coastlands be glad.
03:24Cloud and darkness are his radiant,
03:27his throne justice and right.
03:29Let the just rejoice in the Lord.
03:32A fire prepares his path,
03:35it burns up his foes on every side,
03:38his lightings light up the world,
03:41the earth trembles at the side.
03:44The mountains melt like wax
03:46before the Lord of all the earth.
03:49The skies proclaim his justice,
03:52all peoples see his glory.
03:54Let those who serve idols be ashamed,
03:58those who boast of their worthless gods.
04:00Let all your spirits worship him.
04:03Let the just rejoice in the Lord.
04:07Alleluia, alleluia.
04:09You have received the Spirit
04:11which makes us God's children,
04:13and in the Spirit we call God our Father.
04:17Alleluia.
04:19The Lord be with you.
04:23A reading from the Holy Gospel
04:25according to Matthew.
04:27Glory to you, O Lord.
04:30Jesus said to his disciples,
04:33In your prayers do not babble
04:35as the pagans do,
04:36for they think that by using many words
04:40they will make themselves heard.
04:42Do not be like them.
04:44Your Father knows what you need
04:47before you ask him,
04:48so you should pray like this.
04:51Our Father in heaven,
04:53may your name be held holy.
04:55Your kingdom come,
04:57your will be done on earth as in heaven.
05:00Give us today our daily bread
05:02and forgive us our debts
05:04as we have forgiven those
05:08who are in debt to us
05:10and do not put us to the test,
05:12but save us from the evil one.
05:16Yes, if you forgive others their failings,
05:19your heavenly Father will forgive you yours.
05:22But if you do not forgive others,
05:25your Father will not forgive your failings either.
05:30the gospel of the Lord.
05:32Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
05:39Two points,
05:40or many points we can use from those readings,
05:43but two of them are
05:45our Father,
05:46our sins,
05:47our, our, not mine.
05:49So there is that real
05:51teaching from Christ
05:53about our sense of belonging
05:56to community,
05:57that we pray together,
05:58that we are not on our own,
06:00we are not lone rangers.
06:03And the other one is,
06:05unless we are able to forgive
06:06and open our heart,
06:08we are not free
06:09to even accept
06:10our own healing and forgiveness.
06:13So the call
06:14to let God purify our hearts
06:16so that we can
06:18accept healing,
06:19wholeness,
06:20forgiveness,
06:21ourselves.
06:28blessed are you,
06:29Lord God of all creation,
06:30for to your goodness
06:31we have this bread to offer,
06:33which earth has given
06:34human hands have made,
06:36it will become for us
06:37the bread of life.
06:38Blessed be God forever.
06:41Amen.
06:44Amen.
06:47Amen.
06:48Amen.
06:48Amen.
06:49Amen.
06:49Amen.
06:50Amen.
06:52Amen.
06:58Blessed are you,
07:00Lord God of all creation,
07:01for to your goodness
07:02we have this wine to offer,
07:03fruit of divine work
07:05of human hands,
07:06it will become
07:06a spiritual drink.
07:08Blessed be God forever.
07:10Amen.
07:12Amen.
07:12Amen.
07:15Amen.
07:16Amen.
07:17Amen.
07:17Amen.
07:19Amen.
07:20Amen.
07:22Let us pray,
07:23brothers and sisters,
07:24that my sacrifice
07:25and yours may be acceptable
07:26to God,
07:27our Almighty Father.
07:28May the Lord accept
07:29the sacrifice
07:30from our hands
07:31to the praise
07:32and glory of God's name
07:33for our good
07:34and the good of God's
07:35Holy Church.
07:37O God,
07:38who in the offering
07:39presented here
07:40provide for the
07:42twofold needs
07:42of human nature,
07:44nourishing us
07:45with food
07:46and renewing us
07:47with your sacrament,
07:48grant, we pray,
07:50that the susteners
07:51they provide,
07:52may not fail us
07:53in body or in spirit.
07:55Through Christ our Lord.
07:57Amen.
08:02The Lord be with you.
08:04Lift up your hearts.
08:06Let us give thanks
08:08to the Lord our God.
08:10It is truly right and just,
08:12our duty and our salvation,
08:13always and everywhere,
08:15to give you thanks,
08:16Father most holy,
08:17to your beloved Son,
08:18Jesus Christ,
08:20your Word,
08:20whom you made all things,
08:22whom you sent
08:23as our Saviour
08:24and Redeemer,
08:25incarnate by the Holy Spirit
08:26and born of the Virgin.
08:28Fulfilling your will
08:29and gaining for you
08:30a holy people,
08:31he stretched out his hands
08:33as he endured his passion,
08:34so as to break
08:35the bonds of death
08:36and manifest the resurrection.
08:38And so,
08:39with the angels
08:40and all the saints,
08:41we declare your glory,
08:42as with one voice
08:43we acclaim,
08:44Holy,
08:45Holy,
08:46Holy Lord,
08:47God of hosts.
08:48Heaven and earth
08:49are full of your glory.
08:51Hosanna in the highest.
08:53Blessed is he who comes
08:54in the name of the Lord.
08:56Hosanna in the highest.
09:00You are indeed holy,
09:02O Lord,
09:02the fount of all holiness.
09:04Make holy,
09:04therefore,
09:05these gifts,
09:05we pray,
09:06by sending down
09:07your Spirit upon them
09:08like the dewfall,
09:09so they may become for us
09:11the body and blood
09:12of our Lord Jesus Christ.
09:15At the time
09:16he was betrayed
09:17and entered willingly
09:18into his passion,
09:20he took bread
09:21and giving thanks
09:23broke it
09:23and gave it
09:24to his disciples
09:26saying,
09:27Take this,
09:28all of you,
09:28and eat of it,
09:29for this is my body
09:31which will be given up
09:33for you.
09:39In a similar way,
09:41when supper was ended,
09:43he took the chalice
09:44and once more
09:45giving thanks
09:46he gave it
09:47to his disciples
09:50saying,
09:51Take this,
09:52all of you,
09:52and drink from it,
09:53for this is the chalice
09:55of my blood,
09:56the blood of the new
09:58and eternal covenant
09:59which will be pulled out
10:01for you
10:02and for many
10:02for the forgiveness
10:04of sins.
10:05Do this
10:06in memory of me.
10:14The mystery
10:15of faith,
10:17we proclaim
10:18your death,
10:19O Lord,
10:19and profess
10:20your resurrection
10:21until you come again.
10:29Therefore,
10:30as we celebrate
10:30the memorial
10:31of his death
10:32and resurrection,
10:33we offer you,
10:34Lord,
10:34the bread of life
10:35and the
10:38chalice of salvation,
10:39giving thanks
10:40that you've held us
10:41worthy
10:41to be in your
10:43presence
