Transcript
00:13In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.
00:19We acknowledge our sins. We acknowledge God's great compassion.
00:24You help us to forgive each other. Lord, have mercy.
00:28You help us to never tire from loving. Christ, have mercy.
00:34Your love empowers us to do more than we can dream or imagine.
00:39Lord, have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and
00:49life everlasting.
00:51Let us pray.
00:53O God, strength of those who hope in you, graciously hear our pleas, and since without you mortal frailty can
01:01do nothing, grant us always the help of your grace, that in following your commands we may please you by
01:09our resolve and our deeds.
01:11Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and
01:18ever. Amen.
01:20A reading from the first book of the Kings.
01:24After the death of Naboth, the word of the Lord came to Elijah, the Tishbite, up, down to meet, go
01:32down to meet Ahab, king of Israel, in Samaria.
01:37You will find him in Naboth's vineyard. He has gone down to take possession of it.
01:42You want to say this to him, the Lord says this, you have committed murder, now you usurp as well.
01:50For this, the Lord says this, in the place where the dogs lick the blood of Naboth, the dogs will
01:58lick your blood too.
02:00Ahab said to Elijah, so you have found me out, O my enemy.
02:04Elijah answered, I have found you out for your double dealings, and since you have done what is displeasing to
02:13the Lord, I will now bring disaster down on you.
02:16I will sweep away your descendants and wipe out every male belonging to the family of Ahab, fettered in or
02:25free in Israel.
02:26I will treat your house as I treated the house of Jeroboam, son of Naboth, and Basha, son of Ahiah,
02:36for provoking my anger and leading Israel into sin.
02:40Against Jezebel too, the Lord spoke these words, the dogs will eat Jezebel in the field of Jezreel.
02:50Those of Ahab's family who die in the city, the dogs will eat, and those who die in the open
02:56country, the birds of the earth will eat.
02:59And indeed, there never was anyone like Ahab for double dealing and for doing what is displeasing to the Lord,
03:07urged on by Jezebel, his wife.
03:11He behaved in the most abominable way, adhering to idols, just as the Amorites used to do.
03:25When Ahab heard these words, he tore his garments and put sackcloth next to his skin and fasted.
03:32He slept in the sackcloth.
03:35He walked with slow steps.
03:37Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah, the Tishbite.
03:41Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me?
03:44Since he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring disaster in his days.
03:49I will bring the disaster down on his house in the days of his son.
03:56The word of the Lord.
03:58Thanks be to God.
04:00Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
04:02Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
04:05Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness.
04:08In your compassion brought out my offense.
04:10Awash me more and more from my guilt and cleanse me from my sin.
04:15Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
04:18My offenses, truly, I know them.
04:20My sin is always before me.
04:23Against you, you alone, have I sinned.
04:25What is evil in your sight, I have done.
04:28Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
04:31From my sins turn away your face and brought out all my guilt.
04:36Rescue me, God, my helper, and my tongue will ring out your goodness.
04:40Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
04:44Alleluia, alleluia.
04:46I give you a new commandment.
04:48Love one another as I have loved you.
04:52Alleluia.
04:55The Lord be with you.
04:57A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
05:01Glory to you, O Lord.
05:04Jesus said to his disciples,
05:06You have learned how it was said,
05:08You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
05:11But I say this to you,
05:12Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
05:16In this way, you will be children of your Father in heaven.
05:20For he has caused his Son to rise on bad men as well as good,
05:25And his reign to fall on honest and dishonest alike.
05:30For if you love those who love you,
05:32What right have you to claim any credit?
05:35Even the tax collectors do as much, do they not?
05:38And if you save your greeting for your brothers or sisters,
05:42Are you doing anything exceptional?
05:45Even the pagans do as much, do they not?
05:47You must therefore be perfect,
05:49Just as your Heavenly Father is perfect.
05:53The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
05:56Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
05:59It's a pretty tall order, isn't it?
06:01To be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect.
06:04Well, Christ is telling us to be holy.
06:06He's telling us not to settle for half measures.
06:09He's telling us to continue choosing to love again,
06:13Again, and yet again,
06:15And not to be trapped by our own idiosyncrasies,
06:19By our own egos,
06:21By our own limitations,
06:23Which weigh us down,
06:25And in fact,
06:26But make us happy at all,
06:27And hinder us being
06:30Full disciples of Jesus.
06:32They hinder the path of the Kingdom of God.
06:35Because we are called to proclaim that Kingdom
06:37Loudly by our lives,
06:39To work tirelessly,
06:41Each one of us,
06:42In our own vocation,
06:44For the glory of God,
06:45And for the spreading of the Kingdom.
06:47But when we do not love,
06:49We hinder that.
06:50We hinder that because we don't become
06:52Such a clear witness
06:55To the love of God.
06:57The love of God is what drives us,
06:59Energizes us,
07:01Is our goal,
07:02And we are called to live it with each other.
07:04So when we hold back,
07:06When we are not really listening
07:09To what Jesus is saying to us,
07:11And not trusting Him enough,
07:12That He can actually help us
07:14To overcome our limitations.
07:26Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
07:29For to your goodness we have this bread to offer,
07:32Which the earth has given human hands have made,
07:34It will become for us
07:35The bread of life.
07:37Blessed be God forever.
08:00Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
08:03For to your goodness we have this wine to offer,
08:05Fruit of divine work of human hands,
08:07It will become our spiritual dream.
08:10Blessed be God forever.
08:21Let us pray, brothers and sisters,
08:23That my sacrifice and yours
08:24May be acceptable to God,
08:26Our Almighty Father.
08:28May the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands
08:30For the praise and glory of God's name,
08:33For our good and the good of God's holy church.
08:36O God, who the offerings presented here
08:41Provide for the twofold needs of human nature,
08:44Nourishing us with food
08:46And renewing us with your sacrament,
08:49Grant, we pray,
08:50That the sustenance they provide
08:52May not fail us in body or in spirit,
08:56Through Christ our Lord.
08:57Amen.
09:00The Lord be with you.
09:03Lift up your hearts.
09:04Let us give thanks to the Lord, thy God.
09:10It is truly right and just
09:12Our duty and our salvation
09:13Always and everywhere to give you thanks,
09:16Father most holy,
09:17To your beloved Son, Jesus Christ,
09:20Your word, for whom you made all things,
09:22Whom you sent as our Saviour and Redeemer,
09:25Incarned by the Holy Spirit
09:27And born of the Virgin,
09:29Fulfilling your will
09:30And gaining for you a holy people,
09:33He stretched out his hands
09:34As he endured his passion,
09:36So as to break the bonds of death
09:38And manifest the resurrection.
09:40And so,
09:40To the angels and all the saints,
09:43We declare your glory,
09:44As with one voice we acclaim,
09:46Holy, holy,
09:48Holy Lord, God of hosts,
09:50Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
09:53Hosanna in the highest,
09:54Blessed is he who comes
09:56In the name of the Lord,
09:58Hosanna in the highest.
10:00You are indeed holy, O Lord,
10:02The fount of all holiness.
10:04Make holy, therefore,
10:05These gifts, we pray,
10:06By sending down your Spirit upon them
10:08Like the dewfall,
10:10So they may become for us
10:11The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10:15At the time he was betrayed
10:16And entered willingly into his passion,
10:19He took bread
10:20And giving thanks,
10:21Broke it
10:22And gave it to his disciples,
10:24Saying,
10:26Take this, all of you,
10:28And eat of it,
10:29For this is my body,
10:31Which will be given up for you.
10:37In a similar way,
10:39When supper was ended,
10:40He took the chalice,
10:42And once more giving thanks,
10:44He gave it to his disciples,
10:46Saying,
10:48Take this, all of you,
10:49And drink from it,
10:51For this is the chalice of my blood,
10:53The blood of the new
10:55And eternal covenant,
10:56Which will be pulled out for you
10:59And for many,
11:00For the forgiveness of sins.
11:02Do this in memory of me.
11:12The mystery of faith,
11:14When we eat this bread
11:15And drink this cup,
11:17We proclaim your death,
11:19O Lord,
11:20Until you come again.
11:22Therefore,
11:23As we celebrate the memorial
11:24Of his death and resurrection,
11:26We offer you, Lord,
11:27The bread of life
11:28And the chalice of salvation,
11:31Giving thanks that you've held us worthy
11:32To be in your presence
11:34And minister to you.
11:36Humbly we pray,
11:38That partaking of the body
11:39And blood of Christ,
11:40We may be gathered into one
11:42By the Holy Spirit.
11:44Remember,
11:45Remember, Lord,
11:45Your church spread throughout the world
11:47And bring her to the fullness
11:48Of charity,
11:50Together with Cleo,
11:51Our Pope,
11:52Meet your unworthy servant
11:53And all the clergy.
11:56Remember also,
11:57Our brothers and sisters
11:58Who have fallen asleep
11:59In the hope of the resurrection,
12:01And all who have died
12:02In your mercy.
12:04Welcome them into the light
12:06Of your face.
12:07Have mercy on us all,
12:09We pray,
12:10That with the blessed Virgin Mary,
12:11Mother of God,
12:13Blessed Joseph,
12:14Her spouse,
12:14With the blessed apostles,
12:16And all the saints
12:18Who have preached you
12:19Throughout the ages,
12:20We may merit to be coerced
12:23To eternal life,
12:24And may praise and glorify you,
12:27Through your Son,
12:28Jesus Christ.
12:31Through him and with him
12:32And in him,
12:33O God,
12:34Almighty Father,
12:35In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
12:37All glory and honour is yours,
12:39Forever and ever.
12:41Amen.
12:44In the Saviour's command,
12:45And formed by divine teaching,
12:47We dare to say,
12:48Our Father who art in heaven,
12:51Hallowed be thy name,
12:52Thy kingdom come,
12:54Thy will be done on earth
12:56As it is in heaven.
12:57Give us this day
12:58Our daily bread,
13:00And forgive us our trespasses,
13:02As we forgive those
13:03Who trespass against us,
13:05And lead us not into temptation,
13:07But deliver us from evil.
13:10Deliver us, Lord,
13:10We pray,
13:11From every evil,
13:12Graciously grant peace
13:14In our days,
13:15That by the help of your mercy,
13:17We may be always free from sin
13:19And safe from all distress,
13:20As we await the blessed hope
13:22And the coming of our Saviour,
13:24Jesus Christ,
13:25For the kingdom,
13:26The power and the glory are yours,
13:28Now and forever.
13:30Lord Jesus Christ,
13:32Who said to your apostles,
13:33Peace I leave you,
13:34My peace I give you,
13:36Look not on our sins,
13:37But on the faith of your church,
13:39And graciously grant her peace and unity
13:42In accordance with your will,
13:44Who live and reign forever and ever.
13:45The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ
13:48Be with you always.
13:49Let us offer each other
13:51A sign of peace.
13:52Peace be with you all.
13:55Lamb of God,
13:56You take away the sins of the world,
13:59Have mercy on us.
14:01Lamb of God,
14:02You take away the sins of the world,
14:04Have mercy on us.
14:06Lamb of God,
14:07You take away the sins of the world,
14:09Grant us peace.
14:24Behold the Lamb of God,
14:26Who takes away the sins of the world,
14:28Happy are those who are called
14:29To the supper of the Lamb.
14:31Lord, I am not worried,
14:32You should enter under my roof,
14:34But only say the word,
14:35And my soul shall be healed.
14:38My Jesus,
14:39I believe that you are present
14:41In the most blessed sacrament.
14:43I love you above all things,
14:44And I desire to receive you
14:46Into my soul.
14:47Since I cannot now receive you
14:49Sacramentally,
14:51Comedly, spiritually,
14:52Into my heart,
14:53I embrace you as if you were already there,
14:56And unite myself wholly to you.
14:59Never permit me to be separated from you.
15:02Amen.
15:03Let us pray.
15:06At this reception of Holy Communion,
15:09O Lord,
15:10As this reception of Holy Communion,
15:12O Lord,
15:13Foreshadows the union of the faithful in you,
15:16So may it bring about unity in your church,
15:19Through Christ our Lord.
15:21Amen.
15:22The Lord be with you.
15:24And may the peace and the blessing
15:25Of the Father and of the Son
15:28And of the Holy Spirit come upon you,
15:30And remain always with you.
15:33Let us go,
15:34And proclaim the gospel,
15:36By our lives giving glory to God.
15:39God bless your day.
15:40God bless you.
15:42God bless you.
15:43God bless you.
