00:00we have opened up the mailbag um we'll do this a few more times across the course of the year
00:04because it's always uh exciting to hear what the fans want to know what questions we can answer and
00:09and who's thinking what um so we've got a few questions let's roll through a few ali's got
00:13the first one where is gus to share sitting in the draft now you had your june rating rankings
00:19come out not so long ago i think he was sixth overall after a pretty hot start to his season
00:22yeah really hot start to his season and i think he's after maybe plateauing in the first couple
00:27of weeks of school footy i think his last three weeks have been really dominant and he's going
00:31to hit the champs with some confidence so played a really strong game for st kevin's three weeks ago
00:36was one of the better players in the metro trial on king's birthday and then on saturday led st
00:43kevin's to an upset win i think he had the 35 touches so yeah he's hitting the he's hitting
00:47the right part of the season in some really really strong form and yeah i'm comfortable having him
00:52very very much knocking on the door of the top five we're going to see him in action for vic
00:56metro
00:57this weekend we hope um paul's asks where do you see ethan draver getting drafted to certainly in
01:03that that five to ten range um hopefully at this stage when we're talking about afl clubs and the
01:08picks obviously in that bracket there's collingwood and if they do hold on to that pick you'd be a nice
01:13selection for them ruse at pick seven i don't really think so uh gws at pick eight might be an
01:18interesting
01:18one um st kilda at nine and melbourne at ten and probably the other two in that melbourne pick comes

01:23gold coast so um they're probably the clubs that are both in the probably the window for a player
01:29like ethan and then obviously have have the right pick in place absolutely and so much can change
01:33you're still half the season but yeah i mean if you hold the draft tomorrow i would have thought
01:38yeah calling order melbourne uh he's well suited to and yeah he's in that he's probably right in
01:43the middle of the first round is what i'd say yeah the dogs are right after those clubs as well

01:47they that it would be hard to see him going past them like you said if if we were hosting

01:51uh this week uh charlie talent league grand final teams and winner yeah charlie nash from the eastern
01:58rangers so the eastern rangers aren't one of my grand finalists sorry charlie um but no talent league
02:03i think it's hard to go past the northern knights this is the strongest squad they've had since the
02:07turn of the century and i've got them defeating gippsland yeah okay yeah i think i was tossing up
02:14gippsland or dandy so i might just run with dandy yeah as the runner up to the knights as well

02:18saying you've got you've always got to put sandy in there when they're going to have mcgowan to share
02:22a butler burrows um bradley and yes dimer all in the side so they're all guns even though they
02:28haven't had the season they're obviously school footy affected but you know you almost um it opens
02:34up a little bit in the second half for sure so yeah this is certainly you can't rule anyone out

02:38the race just yet but it is really hard to go past the northern knights and anthony rockers club
02:42just given what they've been able to do across all three lines this year an absolute force uh
02:47will be interesting to see how they go obviously with such a strong group in that vic metro camp
02:50um and uh and how that next line kind of steps up so uh but once come finals time if
02:56they've got that
02:56at full fitness it's it could be a one a one-way road um let's have a look uh blake
03:02asks is xavier
03:03ladbrook the best swingman in the draft well we're about to find out he played forward for vic country on
03:09the weekend obviously we know what he can do down back but if he can really get it to click
03:13together
03:13as a key forward asset it's certainly going to pique the interest of afl scouts uh keep the first
03:19goal of the game he probably couldn't have the same impact um some of the other tools did but um
03:23yeah
03:24he's certainly going to make his case harvey sport and guys another one who played more purely as a
03:29forward for wa can pinch it in the rock which isn't maybe something we will see too much just given
03:33the
03:33ruck stocks at wa have but he can also go behind the ball um so he's those are two that
03:39probably
03:39come to mind for me yeah my answer is no sorry blake i know he's one of your teammates but
03:43one of
03:43uh for me harvey sport and guy is the best swingman in the draft xavier ladbrook's playing forward
03:48because vic country out of necessity they don't have a whole heap of tall forwards um albeit they've
03:53been really impressive wilma lady jet alec and jackson o'brien when he's been up there resting in the
03:57rock with xavier ladbrook but uh yeah i think he's playing up there out of necessity i think he's a
04:02natural defender and i think harvey sport and guy is the one that's the most flexible if you look at
04:07their ability to provide equal output across all three positions yep mitch asks do you think aps is
04:13overrated yeah it's a good question i'd say no it's not overrated because i think there's actually a lot
04:18of people that don't rate aps and school footy but what i would say is i think there needs to
04:22be greater
04:22alignment between the school footy or the schools and the talent league programs because i think at the
04:29moment there's a little bit too much misalignment and sometimes that's at the detriment of certain
04:33players best interests but uh i think what you get with school footy is you certainly get player you
04:39get to see how players respond when they're sort of the leaders of their team because we know the
04:44talent pool is a little bit more diluted certainly in some teams more than others you get to see how
04:49they respond to playing the system you get to see how players respond to tags and more defensive
04:53applications so it is a very different style of footy i don't think it's uh overrated i think there is
04:59a lot more to get out of it and i think i'm embracing it more and more each year um
05:02but
05:03yeah the answer is no i don't think it's overrated no aware do arki butler and harry van haddam end

05:09well they're certainly at the the peak end um of the draft and when you take out ducky cochran and
05:15cody walker as as the two lead probably the two leading prospects and most may see and then being
05:20club tied that there's a top two open pool prospects for sure and and you're talking about
05:25what afl clubs end up it seems like richmond uh and essendon and take your pick with whoever
05:30which one lands where because i guess for both the tigers and essendon whoever runs up with the
05:35earliest selection or whoever they're going to rate higher is who they're going to take and whoever
05:39has the other pick is going to be coming away with a really good prospect and they're both pretty good
05:43list fits when you consider both with what essendon and the tigers both need in their in their list
05:48builds um whether you're getting that live wire forward who can go through midfield or a um hulking
05:54ruckman who can also play forward too i think they're both going to be a great fit for essendon
05:59and richmond if those are the two clubs with the first two picks on the board i can certainly see
06:02them both being good fits for both the clubs but i actually think that both of them are better suited
06:08to
06:08different players so i think from my point of view richmond is definitely better suited to a harry
06:13van haddam makes sense needs to bring in a rock and i think essendon is definitely better suited to
06:17bringing in aki butler yeah i agree with that but yeah they need that front half
06:21liveliness to assist the likes of isaac kako obviously they got haseen alashkar last year
06:26as well but that's the way i would go regardless of who has the top two picks but both prodigious
06:31talents geordie asks why isn't jimmy heel on the draft radar so out of glenelg uh tall ish a good
06:37size left footer yeah he is yeah so a great um great kick and great smarts probably likes a little
06:42bit
06:42of speed but what he does like in speed he makes up for with uh some of his skill
06:46execution has unfortunately suffered some injuries across the last couple of years which have
06:52prevented him from necessarily pressing his case as much as he would want stress fractures but
06:57he is one that's putting together some strong sample under 18s footy and he i don't think he
07:03isn't on the radar i think he's actually starting to attract a little bit of interest now across the
07:07last few weeks and it wouldn't entirely surprise me if it was a late addition to that sample um or
07:12to that
07:12south australia squad rather um with some of the footies playing and continues to put up big numbers
07:16so yeah he's certainly one that i've got uh an eye on but does need to continue to produce had
07:22a big
07:22performance a week and a half ago and then this could be a pretty critical period for him just given
07:26the likes of mcnichol and croker and a couple others from glen decker glenell program are going
07:32to be playing rep footy and then kobe gibson's another one who's in that mid forward mix who's been
07:36playing reserves football as well so the opportunities are certainly going to open up at the talent league level
07:40for jimmy and as you mentioned hopefully that could uh turn a few heads to get him into some
07:45rep footy himself uh last one james just wants us to speak about will antropos and why wouldn't we
07:50want to because he's been in some blistering form he has been in some blistering form i think he had
07:53an underrated game on the weekend for the country some of his ground balls his cleanliness and
07:58strength over the foot he was really good like we say they utilized him as that designated kicker and
08:02his left foot kick we know he's got but i think he's starting to show and it was good to
08:06see on the big
08:07stage some of those other elements of his game around the contest and how clean he is
08:10and quick um on show
