00:00now speaking of champs action under 16s development champs got under the way uh on
00:04monday out of dingley like you said we had tassie versus the nt and then the two vic sides going
00:09at
00:09it and it was vic country uh taking out their little derby uh scrap um in style with a with
00:15a very big win over vic metro yeah and i think it was just the intensity with which they played
00:19at
00:19um lucas kuda feed his uh cult and father-son prospect i think his game was really emblematic
00:25of the pressure that vic country applied um watching it back every time lucas kuda feed his
00:30who was the leading disposal getter got the ball he was just under so much pressure and that was just
00:34due to the way vic country played they seemed to play as a team they seemed to really reward those
00:39defensive acts and it got them to win but yeah if we do start with lucas kuda feed he's from
00:43vic metro
00:44he went through the midfield early and then um spent some time forward his competitiveness really
00:48stood out 189 centimeters he'll continue to grow and be a really really promising target for carlton
00:54fans to get excited about and through the midfield you can tell he's got that footy iq and he's got
00:58that air of class about him he wasn't always clean and yeah he was often under pressure but his size
01:04his ability to keep his hands free and try and make things happen um was what was probably the
01:09features of his game albeit yeah vic country just put so much pressure on him and the others that um
01:14yeah certainly made things difficult and yeah earned them a really well-deserved comprehensive victory
01:20now he's not the only carlton father-son featuring in this game that also caught the eye no exactly
01:25right so will thornton the son of um the son of brett thornton a former carlton player in the earlier
01:312000s uh was in action and only had the three disposals up to half time playing in an unfamiliar
01:37wing role and yeah he was basically unsighted and finished with 21 disposals a game high 21 disposals
01:44went to half back in the second half and was a real game breaker with his speed and particularly with
01:49his
01:49ball use so yeah he opened the game up and um yeah and was a big reason that vic metro
01:56were able to
01:56sort of fight the game out and i think what was really impressive his body language his willingness
02:00to play the four quarters and try to trim the margin as much as possible once the game was effectively
02:06over um he's clearly a natural halfback and i'm looking forward to seeing that on the gold coast i'm
02:11sure we'll see it more look at some of the other names from vic countries on the winning side so
02:16chase
02:16wheelham was one that obviously a lot of people had talking about but uh daniel may is another who
02:20is this week's player of the week yeah absolutely so uh daniel may has had some really strong form
02:26for geelong falcons he's made his under 18s debut and he's played in defense um at under 18s level but
02:33went through the midfield on monday and looked really really impressive as that prototype big-bodied
02:38midfielder tough and powerful and i think he was yeah pretty consensus uh if not best on ground then
02:45second best on ground and chase wheel and right up there as well kicked the four goals was a big
02:50reason why in the second half vic country were able to extend that margin out a big marking target he's
02:56been playing his footy at caulfield grammar and um been in reasonable form but took that to another
03:01level on monday so yeah four goals strong marking target he's a gwv rebels product but expect to see
03:06him play for the sandy dragons as he finishes his studies at caulfield grammar that was a heavy loss for
03:11metro but certainly they certainly didn't have certainly still had some standouts uh from the
03:16loss yeah they did so freddie hardman the the big one um and he had you know a strong reputation
03:22coming
03:22into the under 16s carnival a powerful clearance winner i think his speed to get from contest to
03:31space was what really stood out and then the ability to sort of steady compose himself and hit inside 50
03:36kicks so i think he's only credited with 15 disposals but he seemed to be the hardest worker
03:41in that midfield liam basil clearly has a level of um difference making about him and some of the
03:46things he's able to do x factor in the front half can run through the midfield too and has played
03:50some
03:51strong footy at school boy level and henry woods the ruck for or a tall target for vic metro another
03:57one who was um really impressive took some strong marks stood under some high balls and provided a
04:02contest where he needed to so that were probably the three from vic metro that um put their strongest
04:08strongest case forward despite the result the corresponding clash on monday out at dingley
04:13was tassie's 78 point win over the nc you mentioned hugo tims before as one of the standards what about
04:19on the tassie side uh i think on the tassie side lennox hazel was one that um really caught my
04:25eye some
04:26taylor burn traits about him so that powerful burst of speed that willingness to hit up at the ball
04:30carrier get high up the ground and then set up attacking chains and scoring chains um as that
04:37link player was really impressive and hit the scoreboard himself as well so one of the late oh
04:40he was tassie's leading disposal getter in the end so a really impressive showing from lenny hazel
04:46campbell barwick um another one who ran hard through the midfield jordan stevenson likewise turned up
04:51a plenty of contests and got his due reward and billy chisholm finished with the four goals so was on
04:56the end of tassie's dominance um but yeah looked really dangerous with some of his craftiness and
05:00markings so probably the the main players from tassie's point of view and have to highlight prince
05:04williams as well a raw skill set but a really really explosive and dynamic athletic profile
05:10that um is worth getting excited about and then anyone for nt outside of big hugo i think he was
05:16the he was probably the main one um on the day and to be honest with with hugo i i
05:21think yeah i think
05:22it was quite captivating to watch a game where a player or a team loses by 60 or 70 points
05:27but you
05:28still probably emerged from the game thinking he was the most impressive player on the day and
05:31that's the way it was for hugo so he kicked three goals directly set up another goal and i think
05:36they only kicked six on the day so yeah a really impressive showing and then got got up the ground
05:41as well and around the contest with his clearance winning um just looked at class above so yeah at
05:46ground level for 196 really really good and obviously yeah when he was leading out he was excellent too
