00:07well hi there everybody we've got a lot of ground to cover i will tell you we've had a spirited
00:14uh and not spirited we've we've laughed our asses off we just watched everything
00:19wrong with college football in like one 30 second clip oh so i'm one of the monitors in
00:27the bullpen you got the mcafee show on and then you got a football player originally a kid locally
00:33here right harper woods or whatever big time wide receiver and they're up there talking about
00:37humility and stuff and it's like well hey you're on national tv to announce where he's going to school
00:43opposite of humility second of all the the kid's name is dakota and the dad's wearing a t-shirt
00:49and it says doug goat uh also not humble uh and then naturally we all know uh he goes to
00:59a big
01:0010 powerhouse oregon so yeah basically everything wrong in like one thing this is following up
01:06dante more man yeah you mean when dante made the worst choice of his life by taking ucla's money
01:12when he was ill prepared to play bombed out got benched then transferred sat out a year to repair
01:17himself and only last year became a decent quarterback yeah this may be the fastest time
01:23we can say this he's right you know all right you didn't even wait three minutes into the show
01:29no i mean it's all parody to me um okay so we love two stories in sports right now club
01:38racini
01:38and club soresby so we have what looks to be one of the final installments of club soresby
01:45because i think rico was right all along on one thing and it was this idea of the impossibility
01:53of him taking the field whether he's on legal ground or not what has come out today i want to
02:00read this to you because i was very angry like i should have put it up on the i know
02:06we had a bet
02:06we did i just never wrote it up there i i just thought texas tech going full u of m
02:11and telling you
02:13to go f yourself we'll play whoever we want i just figured i already saw how this playbook ends
02:18this decision was made with brendan and his family it's purely an output of practical analysis of the
02:24situation cody campbell said he's the big time booster who was most likely paying soresby brendan
02:29and tech stand on solid and legitimate legal ground but he faces a june 22nd deadline to be eligible to
02:36enter the nfl supplemental draft more on that in a second no practical way to resolve all various pending
02:42legal disputes and ensure his eligibility prior to that date this is the only viable and fair path
02:49for brendan and his future as well as his teammates and our university so the supplemental draft is this
02:55guys and and like when i was a kid the giants gave up a first round pick to get a
02:59quarterback out of duke
03:00named dave brown now he was a pos but certain guys oh the back page of the post the day
03:08he got benched
03:08the headline was brown bagged and they put a paper bag over his head it was tremendous
03:13the point is you love the post i do love the new york post it's sports the way it's meant
03:18to be
03:18they they spare no feeling no exactly it's entertaining maybe four newspapers took a page
03:24they'd actually not be bankrupt i digress supplemental draft gets used here and there
03:30players got a legal issue player lost their eligibility player failed out of school um you
03:37know it happens i think the giants did it again with a kid out of western michigan who sadly went
03:42missing last year a kid named sam beal he played for the team for a few years and then he
03:48was reported
03:48missing last year and he still hasn't been found um but this is one of those situations so what you
03:54do
03:55is you bid on the player and instead of money you're bidding with draft compensation so if i take
04:02him in the third round of the supplemental draft i'm giving up my third round pick in the real draft
04:07right so that's what soresby's going to do so we got to split this into two silos rico one the
04:15impact
04:15of this i'd like to think this is a win for sanity in college sports but the other side of
04:21it is this
04:23would you take him in the supplemental draft if you were a team that needs a quarterback
04:27because soresby by all accounts was going to have a huge year at texas tech he has huge arm talent
04:36he
04:36does and he's mobile now he gets kind of goofed up when teams start switching coverages and but bottom
04:45line so do most quarterbacks in college this kid was going to get drafted okay he was probably going to
04:51be
04:51a third round pick unless he went fernando mendoza mode yeah he was going to get drafted probably
04:58ahead of drew aller very fair so that's the second silo but do you want to start with the college
05:03football part of this yeah let's go with that give me i mean i feel like it's a win for
05:09sanity
05:10it's a win for common sense and sadly if you air quote call him a kid the kid made the
05:19best decision
05:19mike the adults in the room couldn't do that the adults in the room were ready to go to war
05:26with
05:26each other and finally soresby realized what i have been saying this is the worst decision you could
05:32ever make the money that you make won't be worth all of the turmoil that he's going to go through
05:37and he opted out so yes texas it's the best thing that happened to texas tech you don't have to
05:44go
05:44through the scrutiny you don't have to go through every practice every press conference every time
05:49you lose every time you don't score as many points you don't have to have the media asking you
05:55well you know your quarterback has a gambling addiction did he have anything to do with this
05:59this is the best thing for college football as of right now the ncaa can say scoreboard we we call
06:06this one we win hey we're not as stupid as you guys think that we are this is the best
06:11thing that
06:12could happen to college football because if he would have played this would have torn at the
06:19integrity and i know you think it's all boats and hoes now it is mike it would be wrestling at
06:24that
06:24point okay well here's the other part of this that i think people probably unfortunately need to get
06:31comfortable with he's not the only one who did it he's just the guy who got caught right i mean
06:36realistically we're operating in a world with sports betting and players and college athletes where
06:42it's like speeding everybody does it which is a matter of if you got caught um i and that's
06:48tearing at the fabric of the sport as well because look the nfl just has a far better handle well
06:54it's
06:54collectively bargained there's a union everything's papered uh and there's no injunctions the law is the
07:00law you are a professional you're not an amateur um and you are signing into this union and these
07:06union has rules but that brings me to the nfl side of it because this is interesting we've sat here
07:13for
07:13a long time and you have a lot of people who like jared goff and a lot of people who
07:17don't
07:18but the bottom line is jared goff's probably got two years left before a decision would happen
07:25would you dare submit a bid aka draft brennan soresby if he were available and say the third or fourth
07:33round
07:33of the supplemental draft now again i don't know that he'll be available you have the jets who have
07:38no qb no future at quarterback you have the cardinals you have the dolphins who have made a
07:42commitment to malik willis but it's not a long-term one the idea is soresby was going to develop this
07:49year in college he would develop this year in the pros he has the arm talent he has the athleticism
07:56and he was going to be drafted so look this and by the way before you pan the idea let
08:03me give you
08:03two notes you already you're already familiar with players who gambled and you celebrate them
08:08and drink their bath water it's called james and williams okay so stop right there before you put on
08:14you know the holy roller routine second of all it's impossible to get away with it pro level
08:20soresby will have no ability to get away with it it's not even plausible i mean they're tracing your
08:26phone they're tracing your family's phone they're tracing anyone you've ever run into's phone the nfl's
08:32at a different level this ain't cincinnati or indiana football yeah you can't accidentally oh i that was
08:38wrong yeah we saw what you did and in fairness to jmo i don't man he logged in in the
08:43wrong place
08:44he wasn't betting on his team right i'm making a point here if you don't have a future quarterback
08:50you don't have a backup that interests anybody would you dare and while i'm not going to die on
08:57the hill demanding they do i think it's interesting soresby for let's say a four would you dare
09:06i think i would because again his image in a year who cares and he's he will have no
09:13ability to screw around at the pro level none you're right do you say radioactive do not want
09:20no no no i would see i'm shocked because i thought i was going to be the only one who
09:26said i would do
09:27this if i were the lions because you know everything that the baggage that he comes with but you put
09:34it
09:34best golf probably has a shelf life he is almost free money and let's face it some of brad's
09:43picks lately haven't been that great so how about this brad we'll disarm you we'll just go ahead and
09:49take this quarterback no expectations you're known for drafting projects shout out uh giovanni manu
09:58so you know what tesla is kind of a project broderick martin was a project so let's go ahead
10:04take him he doesn't have to play this year you can groom him and then kind of get him ready
10:11so that
10:11because i do believe if in two years you're not in the super bowl you're going to be ready to
10:16move
10:17on from golf contract and all of that you're just going to move on but you won't be in a
10:21position to
10:21take a guy real high exactly you could take a calculated risk here now do i think he'll be
10:28available in the fourth round of the supplemental no maybe i'm grossly misreading it but i think the
10:33jets the cardinals they're the browns there are teams that are just so quarterback starved
10:38it's a higher level of justification for them but this is a principal question to you the fan
10:43would you dance well let me help you out here mike i think the biggest odds say that
10:51third round is actually the second best odds of him getting drafted best are him not being drafted at
10:59all okay interesting three to one third round seven to two well you don't know actually i guess
11:06third round is the best seven to two undrafted is the second best at seven to two so yeah no
11:12and i i was
11:13tactical and when i said three or four i didn't realize there were betting odds on such things my god
11:19help you if you're betting on this uh no pun intended yeah i know let me throw the number out
11:24though
11:25first of all the soresby thing is done we don't have to deal with the idiocy of it all he
11:30gambled
11:30on college football he can't play but it does open up something new to draft or not to draft is
11:37this
11:37kid completely radioactive partially or not at all look there are plenty of guys in the nfl do plenty
11:44of terrible things they still play so you do have to ask the question i never said he couldn't return
11:51to college football i just said he can't play this year and he can't play for texas tech but a
11:57year
11:57away get help you know not house arrest but just get help he could resume his career i don't have
12:04a
12:04problem with it i'm big on second chances but he broke one of the worst rules you can break
12:10but in the nfl the same league where leonard little drove drunk and killed a family and came back to
12:15play
12:16dante stalwarts ran somebody over do you even want to talk about tyreek hill choke slamming his
12:23pregnant girlfriend you want me to keep going i can let's be careful before we live in a john
12:29jansen glass house so i'm just throwing it out there because honestly i would brad holmes has used
12:37picks on much worse options i actually wouldn't mind it well and i'm also i admit it i'm in the
12:44interesting business that's interesting no i think it fits because let's face it you're going
12:49to be good you're never going to get that number one overall pick this is somebody you can get in
12:54your camp you can bring him along and you know what if in two years you realize it's nothing he
12:59was a
13:00third or fourth round pick and you just go ahead and release him and you move on signed g manu
13:05on
13:06rotunda 248-539-9797 and again if you want to rap about the college football aspect of it you know
13:13we're here for it it's a big win for sanity i don't think he's going to fix anything but for
13:18a moment
13:19in time a golf course retired judge didn't upend the governing body of the sport who has bylaws saying
13:26you can't do something what a novel concept common sense wins 97-1
13:31you can't do something what a novel concept common sense wins 97-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1
