00:00The European Parliament has approved a trade deal between the European Union and the United States,
00:06aimed at easing tariff tensions between Brussels and Washington.
00:10Under the agreement, the United States will impose 15% tariffs on EU goods.
00:16In return, the European Union will remove duties and open up access for a range of American exports,
00:22including industrial goods and some farm products.
00:27The deal was first reached in principle last August,
00:31between U.S. President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after months of negotiations.
00:37But many legal details remained unresolved at the time,
00:40while a U.S. Supreme Court decision striking down some of Trump's tariffs also delayed implementation.
00:46Meanwhile, Trump's threats over Greenland further slowed Europe's implementation of its side of the deal.
00:52Washington later set a July 4 deadline for the agreement to be put into effect.
00:57The agreement now goes to EU member states for final approval, which is expected to be a formality.
