00:00We move to Chief Wallaby.
00:01He's only three to one on the morning line,
00:03and he's been a real buzzy horse in this group, Angela,
00:07even though he only has one career victory,
00:09and he's finished behind Commandment a couple times.
00:11He was fourth, though, in the Kentucky Derby,
00:13and he ran pretty well in there,
00:15and he just has seemed like a horse
00:17who has always been a really popular horse.
00:20He trains well in the mornings.
00:22He goes out for trainer Bill Mott,
00:24who trained Sovereignty to win the Kentucky Derby
00:27and the Belmont Stakes last year.
00:29What do you think about the Chief in here?
00:32Looking at Chief Wallaby
00:34and looking at the other Derby runners,
00:36I think your opinion of the Belmont
00:39can hinge on your opinion of the Derby,
00:42and I don't think it's going to be that much differently
00:44of a run race other than a slightly slower pace.
00:47So if I like Chief Wallaby in the Derby, and I did,
00:50I'm going to like Chief Wallaby in this spot
00:52just by virtue of a smaller field and less pace,
00:55probably making it a bit easier on Chief Wallaby
00:57from start to finish,
00:58whether he is good enough to hold off some of the closers.
01:01Even with a clean trip,
01:02not sure he was going to hold off everybody.
01:04I thought maybe third was his ceiling.
01:06He got fourth, but Chief Wallaby,
01:08I don't think needed the excuses
01:09that some of his competition in the Belmont
01:11are going to need to turn the tables
01:13from the Derby to the Belmont.
01:15Now, Chief Wallaby probably has some growing up to do still.
01:18I still think that it's going to be
01:20just as good a setup in here.
01:22And again, I respected the races that he put in
01:24going in before the Derby.
01:26I hope that he got enough out of it
01:28where he can put on a good show
01:29and at least be in the fight down the stretch
01:31because I think the setup is going to work well for him.
01:33And when we're kind of looking at this whole group
01:36individually and how quick they are earlier,
01:38like what their particular running styles are,
01:40he seems like one of the horses
01:42who I wouldn't be shocked
01:44if he's a little bit closer early
01:45than we would expect.
01:46Like if he's sitting third or fourth
01:48or something like that,
01:49that would be, I think, a nice spot for him to be in.
01:52And it wouldn't shock me at all
01:53being a lightly raced horse with some upside
01:56and maybe one of the naturally quicker horses in the field.
01:59So I agree with you.
02:00I think he's in the mix.
02:01Like any of my pick fours or pick fives that I have,
02:04he's going to be on that ticket in the closing leg
02:06because I think he's a major player to win this thing.
02:09And we move right next door to the,
02:11I think, second choice
02:12to the actually morning line favorite,
02:14Chief Wallaby was the second choice.
02:15So these are your top two betting choices
02:17right next door to each other.
02:19We've got Renegade who's going to come
02:21from way out of it, Angela,
02:22but you sort of have him stacked
02:25towards the top of the division right now
02:26because every single race he's run,
02:28he's just shown up and he's unleashed that late kick.
02:31You kind of know what you're going to get from him.
02:34He'll need a little pace to run at,
02:35but he's going to drop back
02:36and he's going to come running late.
02:38He was your Kentucky Derby runner up.
02:39Oh man.
02:40And he shut me up in the Derby big time.
02:42I was a bit against him because of the post draw
02:44and because of the style and everything,
02:46put that all to bed.
02:47That was an outstanding ride by Arad Ortiz
02:49and he really did everything right, but win.
02:52And Renegade, I think probably hasn't lost too much
02:55in this interim time.
02:57He's been training up there.
02:58I mean, he's just, he's got everything that you want
03:00out of a favorite in the Belmont.
03:02He's the horse that you do have to be.
03:03He's the one you have to hold off,
03:05but things do happen.
03:06Sometimes the pace could be a little slower
03:09than I think it will be.
03:10And that'll be at the cost of some deep closers like him
03:12and the Derby winner Golden Tempo.
03:15So if you're going to make an argument against Renegade,
03:17it's that he might not have that same table set
03:20that he did at the Derby,
03:21but still with less traffic to navigate through,
03:24that can negate that.
03:25With a little bit better post, you know,
03:27being off the rail, that can negate that.
03:29He's going to be very, very tough in here.
03:31And I have to fear and respect Renegade
03:34a little bit more than I did in the Derby.
03:36Yeah, I think he's the one that will come running late.
03:38And I completely agree with you.
03:39Maybe the race shapes up a little different,
03:41but I feel confident that he's going to unleash
03:44that late rally.
03:44Angela, let's take about 15, 20 seconds on Otino,
03:48who he's kind of like a prospect.
03:50He's got the pedigree and he's got the ability,
03:53but he hasn't like put it all together for a big one yet.
03:56Do you give him a shot in here?
03:57I think the expectations on him are a little bit high
04:00because of that pedigree.
04:01You know, you have Gunrunner in your family tree.
04:03People are going to expect you to be in that ballpark.
04:07And whether or not he gets there yet,
04:08I think the price might not be right
04:10for what the horses put on the track,
04:12for the potential that comes with him.
