00:00Yeah, and the familiar name for a lot of folks with the number one,
00:02Mystic Dan, who won the Kentucky Derby last year.
00:04And Scott, while he was a Derby winner last year,
00:07right now, this year, he's probably put together
00:10the best three races in a row that he has in his career.
00:13Really strong form right now.
00:15He's going to try the turf for the first time.
00:17His dam actually won on the grass.
00:20I think from a class standpoint,
00:21it's actually a really good spot for him to try the turf
00:24because while it is a grade one, you don't have the deepest field.
00:28You have a couple horses who might be legitimate grade one horses,
00:31but if he can transfer that dirt form over to the turf,
00:35he's probably not too far out of this race.
00:37No, I mean, that's a big if.
00:39It takes a lot to be competitive in graded stakes races on both surfaces,
00:42but we have seen it before.
00:44I think what I like most, if I'm leaning towards stuff with Mystic Dan
00:48and favoring him in this race, is that he drew the inside.
00:51We know he loves that pocket trip, and he's got his pilot aboard,
00:54regular pilot Brian Hernandez Jr.
00:56I would expect that pocket trip in here as well.
00:59Next one up is the number two time song.
01:01Grade three place, but kind of feels like a big long shot in here, Scott.
01:04I could see him being one of a couple showing some early speed in this race.
01:09Yeah, without question.
01:10You have Luis Saez aboard.
01:11You see speed out in Southern California,
01:13albeit in a little bit easier races going a little bit longer.
01:16It would be really surprising if this horse wasn't involved early.
01:19It would also be really surprising if he was around late for a major share.
01:22Yeah, because what makes it tough for him is the two horses drawn right to his outside.
01:27They both also have speed.
01:30Vesting is a horse who's been in pretty good form, but he wants to be sitting close,
01:34and so he'll be at least putting a little pressure on the two time song.
01:37Yeah, I give him more of a chance, as does the morning line, not to run successfully in this race,
01:43but he's been loose on the lead in his two career wins.
01:46I don't see that happening with any chance today, and they were both against lesser.
01:51So Mike Maker, third off the layoff.
01:53We've seen upsets before, but I think he's up against it.
01:56Of the three horses here, the two, three, four, that look like they're going to be involved early,
02:01I did think the one that you mentioned right there, vesting,
02:03it has the best chance of sitting off and passing horses a little bit.
02:06He's shown that he can do that.
02:08Runway Storm is really, really quick.
02:10He's going to make the third start off the long layoff.
02:13He's a grade three winner.
02:14Now, he has come from off the pace.
02:16It was kind of by accident because he had a slow start that day.
02:19He really does want to be on the lead or sitting pretty close, Scott.
02:22Without question.
02:23Alex Ashard, not an overly aggressive jock.
02:26Haven't watched him over the years in Kentucky and elsewhere.
02:29Maybe they try, since they're drawn outside the other speed,
02:32to try a little bit of a new running style.
02:34This horse had a lot of promise last year, and then he went to the sideline.
02:38I think he's up against it as well from a race shape and class perspective.
02:42The number five is Cairo.
02:44He won three of his first five starts, but since then he's 0 for the last 16.
02:48But in that stretch of races, he has faced some of the top horses in the world overseas.
02:54He just doesn't win a whole lot, Scott.
02:56So a group three winner, multiple group one placed.
03:00I didn't really know what to do with him on the win end.
03:03I think at least in the try and an under horse, but he gets shy getting his picture taken.
03:09He sure does.
03:10Now, he'll be a lot shorter price than a lot of his better efforts over there and against softer competition.
03:17But, you know, you bring it up 0 for 12, dating back to the start of 2024.
03:21He's got nine seconds and 21 starts.
03:24So, you know, he makes a lot of sense, obviously, in many ways.
03:28Coming over from Europe, you never really know what to expect.
03:31Alice Haynes, I'm not overly familiar with, but he should be finishing well, you would suspect.
