00:30que eles carregam. Olha só!
00:55As two veterans of horror and fantasy, how do you feel that genre stories like these help us process those
01:02hardships?
01:03That's what horror and genre has always done, right?
01:06It's always been a reflection of our times, the collective experiences that we have.
01:11Explains the unexplainable.
01:12Yeah.
01:13What we see, what we fear, it's catharsis.
01:17And it will always be that.
01:19It will always be a reflection of what we're collectively going through, you know?
01:24And a master of that is David Cronenberg, of course, who you both got to work with.
01:29Yes.
01:30In these scenes, what was that like?
01:32Were you big fans of his?
01:33Oh, absolutely.
01:34We were so fortunate.
01:35When we first found out, it was like, wait, what?
01:38And just to be able to experience that, and also to experience him as an actor.
01:41Like, he really came there as an actor, wanting to be part of the troupe and part of the team.
01:48And still, you know, told us great stories and regaled us with anything we asked, amused us that way.
01:55But he was incredible.
01:56We feel so fortunate to be able to say we got to work with him.
01:59Oh, my God.
02:00What a treat.
02:00Got to hear stories of his early career that he was so forthcoming about.
02:04Like, yeah.
02:06Very disarming, very sweet.
02:07And just like, the entire-
02:09A student player.
02:10Yeah, totally that.
02:10And our crew were so stoked.
02:13Yes, they were.
02:14We were in Canada.
02:15I mean, you can imagine.
02:16Yeah.
02:16I feel like some of our crew members had, you know, T-shirts from some of his films that they
02:20were like, anxious about whether they should show it to him.
02:23Very, very excited, you know, to work with such a legend.
02:27Oh, and I imagine both of you are also often on the receiving end of that reverence.
02:33I'm Elijah, your guest spot, and I love L.A. is a good example of that.
02:37Aw.
02:37And Sarah Catherine said she threw herself to the ground when she found out in the movie.
02:41Oh, that's so cool.
02:42Yeah, she was like, oh, God, not that girl.
02:46No, yeah, but I'm a huge Buffy fan, so what's it like to work with actors who grew up watching
02:51you?
02:52Makes you feel old.
02:53No, I'm kidding.
02:54Look, we do what we do because we love it, and so anyone tells you that they love it, whether
03:00it's your co-star or the person you meet on the street today.
03:04Like, that's why we do what we do.
03:06Sure.
03:06And that's just the bonus, right, that your work has affected someone, so thank you.
03:12Yeah, I feel grateful for it, but I also don't, I don't think either of us wear our legacy on
03:17our sleeve.
03:18It's not who we are.
03:20It's the work we do.
03:20What about that tattoo that you have that says, I am a legend?
03:22I do have a fellowship tattoo.
03:25I do have that.
03:25Oh, do you really?
03:26That's cool.
03:26I do have that.
03:27But yeah, I mean, you know, it's like, I'm aware that people know our work and appreciate our work, and
03:33that's lovely, but I don't walk onto set sort of assuming those things, you know?
03:36And how come we had a bow every time you walked on set?
03:42Also, Sarah, this role feels quite reminiscent of other great mean girls in play, especially Catherine from cool intentions with
03:49the twisted sibling relationship.
03:51Oh, yeah.
03:51What's the pleasure you find in roles like this as opposed to the heroes you play?
03:55Oh, it's all the delicious pleasure, getting to just say the things that no one gets to say and be
03:59that cruel and mean without ever having to have a conscience.
04:04Like, of course, you know, most of my characters usually at some point discover some form of humanity, but even
04:09to play one once that doesn't would be fun, you know?
04:12It's always good to be bad.
04:15There's also a moment with a rocket launcher in this film that feels like a direct reference to BuzzFeed blowing
04:20up to the judge.
04:21Yes.
04:22Oh, right.
04:23Yeah, so we joked about that on the movie.
04:25There was a picture of the rocket launcher in the hair and makeup trailer, and there was a picture of
04:30me with my rocket launcher in the hair and makeup trailer.
04:32Oh, right.
04:32You missed all the good pictures in the hair and makeup trailer.
04:34Yeah, I did.
04:36I saw a lot of the pictures, but I guess I didn't.
04:38I have a picture of the pictures.
04:39I'll send it to you.
04:39All right.
04:40Yeah, please do.
04:42And Elijah, you're playing the mediator of the violence, so you're not chasing anyone with a shotgun.
04:47Sadly, no.
04:47Yeah.
04:50I mean, it was a really fun proposition to play the one who has the challenge of articulating the exposition
04:58of the film and give the rules and try to make that interesting and fun.
05:03And, you know, I think the fun of the character is that he's probably been observing this for a long
05:08time, and there's something amusing at having that distance of not really participating in the game.
05:15But watching all of these people sort of fumble over themselves for power, and he gets to sort of, you
05:22know, he has no, there are no stakes in it for him beyond his relationship to the devil.
05:26And that's fun, you know.
05:28He's just amused by everybody.
05:30But I wonder, when you get the script for a movie like this, it's splatter horror, there's obviously going to
05:35have great special effects.
05:37Is there something you're looking forward to that you talk to Matt and Tyler?
05:40Oh, I want to be in a scene like this.
05:43What's her reaction?
05:44What special effects?
05:45They just dumped all the blood.
05:48I think from the first film, which is quite iconic for their paths, as they're called, these sort of explosions
05:55of blood as everyone explodes for having not made it, or having not survived the evening, or she survives and
06:03so they die.
06:04So that was such an incredible invention of theirs.
06:07And so for me, I was just excited to be present to see that in person.
06:12Very cool.
06:13It was messy.
06:14Very messy.
06:16We're still cleaning it up.
06:17Sometimes I still find blood.
